November 23, 201113 yr Personally, I'd go with a pair of the Imperial V Wing Fighters. It's a nice little set, makes a good escort fighter (better as a pair) and it's unlikely LEGO will do a re-make of this - any further V-Wing remakes are likely to be of the more commonly seen Republic variety, I'd imagine. It's a pretty obscure version of the fighter. Alright thanks for your reply. I think you made up my mind.
November 26, 201113 yr Battle of Endor+ V-wing or Tantive IV? Battle of Endor = Awesome.Tantive IV = Average. Enough said. V-wing? Who cares about that.
November 26, 201113 yr I need to make $149 to get 10% off Get a couple Ewok Attacks to go with Battle of Endor.

November 26, 201113 yr Maersk Train/Emerald Night or Imperial Flagship Both are sold out in Canada I'd say Emerald Night
November 26, 201113 yr Maersk Train/Emerald Night or Imperial Flagship Imperial Flagship was $25 off at my store. And I have all three and I have to say Imperial Flagship, such a monstrous set with lots of playability.
November 26, 201113 yr Battle of Endor = Awesome. Tantive IV = Average. Enough said. V-wing? Who cares about that. Endor for sure. Great set- at-st, figs, the bunker... Unreal. Second the ewoks...
November 26, 201113 yr Maersk Train/Emerald Night or Imperial Flagship IFS all day long. That ship is just so impressive. If you're a Pirate fan/collector, you'll definitely regret it. Even if you're not a Pirate fan you will. The only complaint I have, as with other ships it seems, is the lack of cannons. Get it! Everyone should!
November 26, 201113 yr Imperial Flagship is currently niggling at me, particularly with it now not showing up at some stores. Just how good a build is it? I posted here a while ago, and IF was on my list then, but I ended up buying the rest of my list instead (Grand Emporium and Emerald Night). I also have Tower Bridge, MMV and Fire Brigade - so most of the current "big" sets. Traditionally, I've been a classic Pirates collector, but with the quirk that all I have are islands/bases and I don't own any ships from the classics line, the POTC line or the recent revived line (bar the little rowboats). I've loved building the modulars, and I've ordered a train set for Christmas so I can motorise my Emerald Night as well. I feel that the way my Lego collection is going is towards buildings and trains...and I can't decide if by letting the Imperial Flagship go I'm making a huge mistake, or if I'm concentrating my collecting in the right way (i.e. I can't buy everything; buy what interests me most). I don't want to miss out on a fantastic build, but I can't help but feel that the Imperial will dwarf the rest of my Pirates collection. With the sale, it's around £130 for 1664 pieces, compared to Pet Shop being circa £110 for 2032 or either of the cargo trains being £120 for 800-ish pieces. Or how about the Winter villages sets? I know there have been rumours about them disappearing for a while, but all 3 are available now - is this the best time to snap them up? (I hate Lego decisions!)

The winter village sets are fantastic, and you will not go wrong with them, but do not underestimate the Imperial Flagship. It's a magnificent ship, and probably the greatest of all the pirate ships, in that Lego decided to make a version without the many compromises they usually have to make when making sets for the kids. Remember that this will most likely be your last chance to get this set, it's already marked as sold out in the US so whatever they have left in the S@H stores in Europe is it. I absolutely loved the build personally, and it's a magnificent display piece. Don't worry too much about being a town/train collector, this ship is a lot easier to incorporate into a town layout than the pirate ships. The two sets you should get as soon as possible of your options is the Toy Shop and the Imperial Flagship, and I'll give the advantage to the IF for the reasons above, and the fact that you're probably going to have some more time to pick up the Toy Shop, which is the one Winter Village set that is most likely to disappear first.

I don't recall the build aside from it taking about 6 hrs. When I bought mine, I was buying City and Castle, for the most part, so I wouldn't worry about that. At the price it is, I would be kicking myself not buying it. A definite buy to anyone. If you haven't already, go look for the review of the set, I'm sure that will decide which to buy. November 27, 201113 yr Imperial Flagship is currently niggling at me, particularly with it now not showing up at some stores. Just how good a build is it? The ship is an overall solid and sturdy build. The only complaint I have with it is its weak bow. If you apply a little too much pressure anywhere on the bow, it completely shatters. Nothing a little modding couldn't fix. I fixed it within an hour and now its quite strong even if i applied a lot of pressure on it.
November 27, 201113 yr In a pickle with myself. The Death Star 10188 is a really great looking set. My only problem is that I'm not a huge Star Wars fan. In fact, I enjoyed the movies growing up, but I haven't bought a LEGO Star Wars set yet, and don't really follow it. I have been eyeing Tower Bridge 10214 for some time now. While I realize the collectors value in the Death Star, I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth buying if I don't really enjoy the theme a lot. Build, pieces useful/unique for MOC, etc Help/input?

I wouldn't get it if you aren't really interested in the theme, while Tower Bridge you don't need to be interested in a certain theme. The Death Star is a better set if you're interested, but if not, I think Tower Bridge is the way to go.

But again, it's the theme that I'm concerned about. As awesome as the Death Star is, for $400, it's hard. Is there a lot of unique pieces that aren't available in any other sets?

I seem to have all the same sets as you and made the call to pick up the IF during the current Lego shop sale. Worst case, save it for a year and if you don't open it, you'll probably be able to sell it at double the MSRP. The set is huge and appeals to the AFOL as well as the spoIled kids. All my pirate sets are from the classic era and broken down into pieces awaiting future rebuild and display, including the Black Seas Barracuda and Caribbean Clipper. But, like you, I'm more into the city/trains spectrum right now and for the foreseeable future. The Pirates just don't seem to go well with my current setup. November 27, 201113 yr Thanks for all of the responses - you've convinced me...I plumped for the Imperial Flagship! I realised that I had £20 stored up in VIP points, so it made it a rather tasty £108 so I think there's no arguing for that price.

December 10, 201113 yr Should I get 3815 Heroic Heroes of the Deep for my little sister for Christmas? She is a big Spongebob fan, but isn't really into LEGO. She has the Spongebob pineapple house, a mosaic set, and a small Belville set, but she doesn't play with them too much. Is the 3815 a good set for a non-Lego fan, or should I get something else?

I'd say get it; if she's into Spongebob then it would be a great set to get for her, even if she isn't into LEGO that much. Besides, Spongebob contains alot of big, blocky pieces (such as the minifigures), so sometimes it doesn't look a great deal like LEGO.
December 12, 201113 yr I would actually say for a Sponge-Bob fan the slightly dearer Glove World set since it comes with Sandy would be better than the one you were considering 'Sid Sidious'. Plus she's not into Lego too much, that might change next year with the new Friends theme.
December 14, 201113 yr So, do I get 6860 The Batcave, or 6857 Funhouse, or 6864 The Batmobile and the Two-Face Chase. I'm leaning towards the Funhouse set but for 10 bucks more I get a black batman....
