samthelegoman1 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I'm leaning toward Market Street, but of course, there is also THe Medieval Market Village set coming out, the new Pirate ships, and also some Indy stuff... Quote
SWMAN Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I just bought my first Castle sets today and really like them. I bought the Catapult, the Prison Carriage, the Crossbow Attack, and one of each BP. I want to get a few more and I just want to focus on the Skeleton's. Are the King's Castle and Skeleton Castle worth the money? I want to know before I buy. Thanks. Quote
Zorro Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 King's castle: Yes, barely, but still yes. Enough minifigs, a lot of playability and accessories. Sceletons castle: IMHO: NO, I would buy a number of smaller sets to build me a skeleton army, but I wouldnt buy the castle, I think it looks bad. There are better suited castles and/or building for the "skellies" Quote
hewkii9 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I say yes for the King's Castle - big, good number of figs. But I also say yes for the Skeleton Tower - it's considerably cheaper, has a different dragon and the same barding as in the King's Castle, and is the only set with the Princess and the Wizard [apart from the chess sets]. Matteo Kenobi Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Well I personally own the Kings castle and I like it, its very good, It has a lot playable parts and looks like a castle should (well, lego castle) When it comes to the skeleton castle, I honestly don't know, I don't own it. However I would think it would be a nice base for your skeleton army, if thats what you are focusing on. Quote
NewRight Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I'd say hold your money. Possibly wait for some of the early released '09 sets. (You know we'll see theme early). If you know you can get more money before then buy a set that completely interests you and holds some rare elements for cheap. I'm flat broke, but hoping to buy the Advent calendar soon. Quote
Siegfried Posted October 6, 2008 Author Posted October 6, 2008 Okay- now, I have a hundred dollars, I'd probably buy anything. What should I buy? Wait for Christmas sales! Quote
samthelegoman1 Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Yeah- I really want to save up for... Lets see- Indiana Jones Castle and Pirates. I might buy a little brickarms zombie defense pack, though Quote
SWMAN Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 So, I just bought the King's Castle off S@H. I decided that after spending $65 before the the Castle and another $120 after shipping and tax, I will take a break. I was shocked that they didn't have it at the Lego Store at Downtown Disney (where I bought the other stuff today), considering that they had 10 of every other set. Quote
darkrebellion Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 (edited) Hi, with my birthday just at the corner (November 1) I need to decide what I should buy. I have a totally confirmed list but there are two sets that I want, but probably will just get one (At least at the moment I think the other will come in christmas ) and are the new AT-TE 7675 or the new Republic Attack Gunship 7676, so which one I should buy ? I have both and I'd buy the RGS over the AT-TE... but the AT-TE is cool too and is fun to mod! Quote
Matteo Kenobi Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 Well I think thats a smart choice, haha sounds like that was a fun little shopping spree =P Honestly, I would suggest the Dwarvin Mine as your next set, it really is a great set! Quote
KimT Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 All castle sets are worth the money Personally I do not buy more than one set if it has skellies. I do not like the skeleton faction. As for the rest, when I see them and if they are on sale. Then they go into the shopping bag to join the evergrowing army of mine. Quote
SWMAN Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I decided on just focusing on the Skeleton Army for two reasons. One, I have limited space so if I focused on both the Skeleton's and Orcs or even just the Orc's I would run out of space buying every set. Second, I really wanted the Castle, which is Skeleton, and there are more smaller sets to build an army with if I focus on the Skeletons. You can close this thread now if you like. I already bought the Castle. Thanks for the advice everybody. Quote
samthelegoman1 Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Okay- I have about thirty bucks (don't worry, I didn't spend the 100). I really want to buy the Beach House. Does anyone own it it and can tell me if its a good set? Quote
Doom Saber Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 imo, the undead set is not worth your money in regards to the tower. If you like me and only care about the minifigs, then the set is great. You get 2 unique mini and a dragon to boot. Quote
Teddy Posted October 8, 2008 Posted October 8, 2008 Dear all, I bought the skelleton tower for the female minifig and the dragon. I think it is a good set for children with high playability. That said, currently I've shelfed mine to be honoust. I bought the King's Castle mainly as an army builder and parts pack. I was verry pleased and it was so good that I actually bought another one. So if you find one on a discound I would advice to buy one or two even if it is just for the parts. Hopefully this is of help to you. Kind regards, Teddy Quote
SWMAN Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 I went ahead and bought all the sets that I wanted to. Thanks for the advice. Quote
Siegfried Posted October 9, 2008 Author Posted October 9, 2008 Okay- I have about thirty bucks (don't worry, I didn't spend the 100). I really want to buy the Beach House. Does anyone own it it and can tell me if its a good set? I have it and I think it's a great good value set. Quote
jamzee Posted October 9, 2008 Posted October 9, 2008 (edited) hi everyone, fascinating thread. ok, i'm torn between expanding my LSW collection, or MM with the hypersonic ops aircraft OR diversifying into castle pending the stunning market scene etc any advice would really b appreciated friends. such a great hobby Edited October 9, 2008 by jamzee Quote
Squeaker Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Hi, I have $170 (I don't want to spend it all) and since I'm a teen who volunteered for th LEGO store event, they didn't need me, so now I get 30% off and a free t-shirt. What should I get? Quote
Trexxen Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 (edited) Alright, so...this is all tentative, but I may have up to 100 dollars to spend this weekend or soon in general. I don't want to use it on Bricklink; I want recent sets. I'll be going to TRU, and tax can be covered by parents (^.^). I'm mostly interested in Space, Castle, and Pirate MOCing; and though I also like Bionicle, I have tons of parts from that. Any ideas for me? ~Trexxen (Oh, and if this doesn't work this weekend, I'll take advantage of the phone sale instead...actually I may just do that period, but just incase.) EDIT: Jamzee, I'd say that if you plan on buying the Market Square then yes, now is the time to buy some Castle - ALTHOUGH, if you plan on buying any Pirates next year, then you can use those instead and should buy more Star Wars. The Marketplace seems it could go great with the Pirate era too. Squeaker, what themes do you like? If your lego store has it, do the thing where you can take bags that didn't make it into sets and put them into a bucket for $100 (Do stores still do that? I've heard about it many times, but have never even been to a lego store D=) ; otherwise, buy sets in the themes you like - or, if you're into MOCing, hit up the Pick-A-Brick wall. hollisbrick Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 Well the other day I saw the creator spider, when i saw pics of it on the web I wasn'r too interested but when I saw it in the shop it grew on me. Has anyone done a review on it? Would anyone recomend it? Thanks Quote
Inigo Montoya Posted October 25, 2008 Posted October 25, 2008 I find myself in a bit of a dilemma. I've recently sold some things on ebay, and have about $150 set aside for my next set of lego purchases. Lego space (classic, specifically) is where I first got into lego long ago and always have wanted the 918, 924, and 928 sets. Should I buy the 2 smaller sets (which I can pick up via bricklink for about $110 or so), or buy the bigger one (which runs about $135). Ultimately I want all 3, but for the time being this is the question I find myself presented with. One other thing: why does the 928 set sell for so much less than the US version (497)? Same for the 924 (497)? I know the 4-- were the ones released here in the states, but myself, personally, I'd rather have the set that matches the piece numbers on the bricks themselves. I'd love any and all feedback, and which of the 2 purchases you'd make. Quote
