Canada_7 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Another quick question...is the 10212 Imperial Shuttle considered out of production? I've been contemplating getting that set but it's quite pricy...plus the fact it's all white makes me fear that it will discolour. I feel like it'll be one of those sets I'll miss out on getting but regret later on. Quote

On LEGO.com/US, it is also listed as retired and ebay prices are heading north of the RRP. If I were a collector of SW or UCS, this would have definitely been on my list. It wouldn't hurt to try and pick one up ASAP. At least you'll have it without dropping some major bucks Quote
gundamz Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 Which $12.99 set to buy? Background: Already bought this year: Battle of Alamut, MMV, Iron Man Extremis Port Battle, 4x Knight CMF, 2x Patriot CMF, 1x Judge CMF. I like historical sets the most, but am also interested in Superheroes. I am neutral with regard to most other themes, except that I don't like fantasy themes (e.g. goblins, ghosts, monsters, etc.) I plan to buy the 70404 King's Castle, as I have wanted a LEGO Castle for a long time. In addition, I also plan to buy 1 or 2 other $12.99 sets. The Contenders: * Lone Ranger: Cavalry Builder Set -Pros: Interesting minifigures, historical, great weapons/props (cannon, horse, rifles) -Cons: Not interested in any of the other lone ranger sets (though I'm OK with Western in general), Very few pieces in the set * Upcoming $12.99 Castle set (featuring, I think, a couple knights fighting a couple villains. The set has a dog and a treasure cart.) -Pros: I'm also getting the King's Castle, so this would be a nice addition. The figures look good. -Cons: Concerned that King's Castle's minifigures would make this redundant, as I do not stage massive battles. * Gandalf vs. Saruman -Pros: King's Castle lacks a wizard, so I could get Gandalf and pretend he's Merlin. -Cons: I don't like LOTR, though this set is OK to me as it is more realistic and less fantasy. * Batman vs. Catwoman -Pros: Batman's my fave superhero. -Cons:The Batman in that set has no cape. Rest of the set looks rather boring. * Superman vs. General Zod - Pros: Good piece count, interesting looking scene - Cons: Not a big Superman fan; don't know who General Zod is * TMNT Michaelangelo vs. Kraang - Pros: I like turtles (I count them as superheroes) - Cons: I don't plan to buy the other TMNT sets, and having Michaelangelo without any of his brothers seems a bit pointless. Which set(s) would you recommend that I get? Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I would go with the Calvary Builder or Gandalf vs. Saruman. Both of them are great sets. Enjoy! Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I think Gandalf vs Sarumon would the best. It has a little build to go with two wizards (one good/one bad). It could tie into what you want to do anyway. The LR set is good, but you're right, it's mostly for the figures and they won't tie into your castle theme as much. And as far as Super Heroes go, those are nice starter sets, but if you don't care about the set or the figures, you will just be disappointed. I love Batman, but that particular version of Batman isn't my favorite. And I'm not a huge Superman fan, but with it involving a vehicle and aliens you've never heard of, probably not the best to tie into your more historical theme. Same goes for Turtles. The Turtles are really well done and I have enjoyed the figures, but I haven't built any of the sets. I say get something you will actually use the most. LOTR sounds like a winner to me. Quote
Leo604 Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I would go with the Calvary Builder or Gandalf vs. Saruman. Both of them are great sets. Enjoy! Seconded; Cavalry Builder has a ton of minifigures and accessories, like you pointed out. I wouldn't be too worried with not knowing anything about The Lone Ranger, the pieces can be reused for a lot of other things too. Gandalf vs. Saruman is good just cause LOTR. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted May 15, 2013 Posted May 15, 2013 I have the Catwoman set, the LR set, and the Ninja Turtles set and I think you should go with the Turtle set. The figs are great and the pod is cute. Quote
Sah Posted May 17, 2013 Posted May 17, 2013 Hey guys. I'm a LEGO fan from years back looking to rekindle my passion. To start off, I want to buy a modular building in two weeks but just can't decide! I'm looking towards Palace Cinema, Town Hall or Emporium. I'm more of a detail fan but I also like high piece counts. Can someone suggest which of these three would be best for me? Quote

I'm more of a detail fan but I also like high piece counts. Can someone suggest which of these three would be best for me? Of those three I would go with Grand Emporium as the first choice. It is the oldest and the closest to retirement. It has some great details and construction techniques. Quote

Don't ever let a set go by so close to retirement. Quote
Luke_likes_Lego Posted May 18, 2013 Posted May 18, 2013 Hi Artifex...and welcome back to the hobby, Can't go too far wrong with any of those choices.....Emporium will probably be the first that starts to become 'hard to get'.... so less chance of regret whilst you save up for the other two !! Cheers, LLL Quote
october Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I have the opportunity to change the first 3 winter village sets and the hp burrow, all sealed for Palace cinema and horizon express also sealed. I always wanted a lego train and I already have 2 modulars which I like, the ge and ps. I would like to change that. Do I made a mistake? is it a reasonable change? I usually don't buy sets for investments, I didn't opened the winters beacouse of no space in my house. thanks, Quote

In other words, Hang on to it Quote
october Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Hi, I am not really interested in HP. I just can pick this up in a local store ona a 35% discount which is 50% less than the cheapest sealed price on bl. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I personally love the Burrow and the Winter Village sets, but I also like the Modulars. I don't have much desire for trains. But it sounds like you love trains and Modulars, and don't care about the other sets as much. I'd say that your answer is already made up. I think you'll be happier with the train and Modular. Quote
october Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 thanks @thelegodr. You got the point. I will be happier with the modular and train. I am only uncertain if this is a good deal. And also, this is maybe the last time that I am in possesion of the winters. But unfortunatelly i dont have money for both options. Quote
Infernum Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 I'd say do it. If you want the winter sets just pick them up after Christmas this year. I got one for 50% off from a LEgo Brand store. Quote
bekindsorewind Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Heartlake School or the Yacht? At this point I'd say the school, but they aren't out yet so I can't make a fair and concrete decision. Quote
just2good Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 At this point I'd say the school, but they aren't out yet so I can't make a fair and concrete decision. Yeah, that's what I'll most likely go with. I do say, June 1st is going to be one heck of a day! Quote
october Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 So people what do you think, Palace cinema vs Haunted house? I have 2 modulars and I love them (ps and ge). I also have some smaller Monster sets and I faund them really great. But I am a little undecided between pc and hh. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Well, I don't have the Palace Cinema, but I love my Haunted House. I have 3 Modulars and love all three of them (FB, PS, GE) so I will definitely get the Palace Cinema, but I would not pass up on the HH. I loved the Monster Fighter line though. I didn't get the castle in favor of the HH and I don't regret it at all. You get a large scale build in a rare color with some exclusive figures. I think the main question is: Do you plan on displaying, playing, or MOCing with the pieces? I originally bought the HH to MOC the Green Grocer, but ended up building it instead. I instantly fell in love. And it looks great on a shelf as a display piece. And my daughter loves opening it up to play inside, unlike the Modulars that are harder to include play value. Either way you won't be disappointed I'm sure, but my vote goes for the HH. Quote

october Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 i like to display my modulars, so yes also the hh will go on the shelf. On photos and videos the pc looks more appealing to me. but I know everiting change when you have your set at home. Quote
