I have a chance to buy 7188 King's Carriage Ambush at Barnes and Noble. It's retail so it's $40. Does this seem like a good buy?

It's a decent price on the set. Pretty much any Castle set is great at MSRP. And Kingdoms is generally felt to be the "crowning" sub theme of the line. While the King's Carriage Ambush is not the best of the line up. It is a neat set. The carriage is a bit big, in much the same way that the LR Stagecoach feels a bit large. But it is great. 2 horses. The King. A nice mix of the Red and Gold Lions and the Green Dragons. And even some fun trees. It feels like a whole complete little story. And seems to really tell the tale of the noble Lion Knights and the more down on their luck Green Dragons who have been pretty much reduced to banditry better than just about any other Kingdoms set save perhaps the Mill Village Raid. (and if you are lucky enough to see that set at retail at Barnes and Noble GRAB IT IMMEDIATELY)

I did grab it. I passed on it last week and just had to get it this week. It was a fun build. Nothing special, but the trees are nice. And it's always good to get another king. I'm glad I was lucky enough to find it still on a store shelf.

Awesome. I think it's one of the better carriage builds, plus it comes with those nice printed horses.

^ Arkam Asylum all the way. A better build, minifig selection and you'll just have fun with it overall. I don't have it myself, but from what I've seen, it looks phenomenal.

My question is this: Cloud Cuckoo Land or Kai Fighter? I'm leaning towards Kai Fighter, but I'd like some other opinions. Thanks.

EDIT: Forgot to mention I need an answer ASAP as I'm going to the Lego store tomorrow. Thanks!

Arkham Asylum or Joker's Steamroller

Apples and oranges, those 2 sets aren't even in the same league! If you have the cash, get the asylum for sure. If you wait until tomorrow you'll get the free martian manhunter too.

We don't have the Kai Fighter, but Cloud Cukoo Land is interesting. Lots of small round plates and tiles, and some nice rare pieces like 1x2 Log bricks in white. As a whole though, the set is somewhat disappointing because it just isn't big enough to do Cloud Cuckoo Land justice. So I have mised feelings on it, I like it and will probably buy more than one copy, but by itself it may not be the best choice unless you are a big fan of the movie and want Unikitty.

Hmm, this is a tough choice but which one?

Arkham Asylum or Joker's Steamroller, Doc Ock Truck Heist and Juniors Batcave?

Arkham by far. Every part of it is a win. The others have some interesting figs. Namely Batgirl, Damien Wayne Robin, Doc Oc, and the more classic caped crusaders. But the builds in them are mostly awful. The only thing even mildly interesting of the bunch is the Jokers Steamroller. The rest, BLEAH!

Kai fighter. I was really skeptic at first, thinking it would be just another jet fighter build. But it's actually a really well designed set, very swoosh able, sturdy, yup. It's got some cool figures to! Can't beat a robot ninja!

Kai Fighter vs Cloud Cuckoo. That will really depend a lot on what you do and what you like. Overall I think Kai fighter is the stronger, unless you really desire Unikitty and the Lego movie main cast in a cheap set. The Cloud Cuckoo Palace is interesting, and has some neat and rare parts. But it isn't a good display or play piece. And it uses some strange Friends colors. Which are great, but if you are a system builder, you probably have nothing else of, and get nowhere near enough of to do anything interesting with.

The Kai Fighter is a small set. It's a decent plane with a lot of swoosh ability. Not anywhere near the league of Jays Stormfighter or some of the Star Wars stuff. But still real fun as a toy.

I'm looking for an awesome D2C set, as, in all honesty, I have never purchased any before. Even though it is a bit early, I'm already thinking about what to ask for for my birthday in September. I have a choice between MetalBeard's Sea Cow or The Simpsons House, and I can only get one of the two. Both are equally impressive and detailed sets, but I was wondering if anyone had a preference for which one I should ask for? Thanks for the help.

I'd go Lego Simpson house. The Lego Simpson stuff will have a lot of unique minifigure parts and the house itself is just gorgeous and a fun build - except all the flat tiles...

I think the Mixels are mostly about favorite color, since the builds are so small it's not like there's anything super amazing about each one. I would choose Electroids (yellow) because I like the combo build best - the arms are alittle stumpy, but it's full of character. Then the Infernites. I don't like the look of the Cragsters at all.

I would say the Sea Cow, however I may be a bit biased to due how much I hate the idea of LEGO Simpsons. Still, the Sea Cow is phenominal.

I will be buying multiples of one set for army building, What should I get, Utapau Troopers or Batte on Saleucami?

I could use some building on both my droid and clone armies.

It really depends on which one you want to build up more. Both sets are good for army building. As someone whole likes to army build clones, I would go with Utapau Troopers. I will acknowledge that Battle on Saleucami looks like a cheap way to build up on some droids, plus you get a clone as well. It may be cheaper to Bricklink droids though if you're looking for droids.

Hmm, the Asylum seems like the best option then, but the minifig selection is the major factor to me right now, I already have 3 black suited Batmans' ,2 Robins, a Poison Ivy and 2 Jokers. The new sets have new iterations and new figures like Batgirl, Damian and a more classic Robin. very difficult indeed.

Buy the Asylum. You can always buy the steamroller later as it's just been released. You will eventually get it at a lower price as well. Besides the Asylum is a way better display piece. One of my most beloved sets, next to bag-end and the black pearl.

My turn now: the Delorean + Lord Business Lair

or

The whole 2014 DC-wave

Evo XL Machine or, using the Brick's and Pieces service, 6 to 8 of every purple HF shell (there are 4 types) plus 30 or so azure bones for 30 to 40 euros?

@ Cammo - buy the Delorean and maybe some of the DC wave. Once the Delorean is gone, it's gone, but Batman will always be around.

I don't see the Delorean going anywhere until at least 2016, for obvious reasons. (Plus the money it generates for Parkinson's) If it does, it should still be reasonable.

But I do plan on getting mine ASAP.

@ B-Lister - See I'm not so sure. The Cuusoo stuff tends to sell very well and then disappear. Plus, with the Ghostbusters set coming out later this year, I don't see both sets being out together.
