wgemini Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 (edited) 7239 vs. 60002. Price is about the same for a used 7239 and a new 60002. Thoughts? 7239 Fire Truck 2005 60002 Fire Truck 2013 Edited February 12, 2016 by wgemini Quote
BlockLogo Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 Maybe include the actual names of the sets. Quote
Kodan Black Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I like the look of 7239 more, plus it seems to have more with the boat and the cool firemask helmet. Quote
HawkLord Posted February 12, 2016 Posted February 12, 2016 I'd go 7239 for the more detailed look and boat. 60002 looks a bit boring. Quote
ironhammers Posted February 14, 2016 Posted February 14, 2016 I'm looking at getting a Lego set tomorrow out of the following. 1) Ferris Wheel 10247 2) Fairground Mixer 10244 3) Arocs 3245 (42023) 4) Fortrex 70317 and Evil Mobile 70316 I'm looking for a lengthy build, both fun and challenging. Thoughts? 7239 Fire Truck 2005 60002 Fire Truck 2013 I am also getting 60002 this weekend. Mostly because I do not yet own a fire engine. But more important than that, the mini figures match the figures I currently own with the brown helmets and prints. It will push my fire fighter count to 8 and that I feel is a pretty decent amount of them, 2 gold helmets, 6 brown helmets. If anything I would push for a set that matches the color scheme/prints of sets you own already. I find it gives builds a more organized look. Quote

If you want lengthy build, buy Arocs, but if you want something beautiful to put on shelf and also with interesting build, buy Ferris wheel. It was by far the most looked at OOB set on our last exhibition. Quote
Cwetqo Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 And now, my question: I have option to buy one set with good discount. I already have Helicarrier and Sydney Opera and I plan to get Ghostbusters HQ on other occasion. So, for now, I set my sights on two sets: 1. 10236 Ewok Village (17 minifigs, 1990 parts, 250 euro) 2. 76052 Batman Classic TV Series Batcave (9 minifigs, 2526 parts, 250 euro). I like both very much, maybe Batcave a little bit more, but it will be available much longer, so it would be good to get EW before it. What do you think? Quote

It's very impressive on display, more so than the Batcave.Slave I or Parisian Restaurant? I'll get both eventually, but which one first? Quote
Tariq j Posted February 15, 2016 Posted February 15, 2016 Definitely Ewok Village. It's very impressive on display, more so than the Batcave. Slave I or Parisian Restaurant? I'll get both eventually, but which one first? Parisian Restaurant came out earlier (2014), so I'd get that one first as it's more likely to retire sooner. Quote

BlockLogo Posted February 16, 2016 Posted February 16, 2016 I only have the Ferris Wheel out of those and would defintely recommend it. It's fantastic. It took me about 8 hours to build spread over a couple of days and while there was some repetition, it was still so satisfying to see it come together. Comes with a ton of figs, as well. I'm guessing the mixer is in the same vein, but it's older so you might wanna pick that up first if you're interested. Quote

Airbenderfreak Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 (edited) I recently won an eBay auction and got 6401 Seaside Cabana, 6402 Sidewalk Café, and 6410 Cabana Beach. I love all of them and want to expand my Paradisa collection. Which sets would you recommend and why? Thanks in advance. Edited February 17, 2016 by Airbenderfreak Quote
BrickOn Posted February 17, 2016 Posted February 17, 2016 Assuming these are your only Paradisa sets? Then I recommend the Sand Dollar Cafe 6411 to extend your coastline and the Poolside Paradise 6461, er because it'll add some height to your collection and you get a waiter. One thing to note is that the colours of the baseplates changed with the later sets and they use a different colour green for the grass which used to annoy me. Quote
Vindicare Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 Any idea how long the minifig clocks' shelf life is? My friend is a huge Supes fan & his birthday is August. Contemplating if I should get it now or later. Quote
Airbenderfreak Posted February 19, 2016 Posted February 19, 2016 I know opinions on Friends and Elves is divided, but I happen to love both. That makes it difficult to decide between 41174 Starlight Inn and 41118 Heartlake Supermarket. Starlight Inn feels more complete as a building but Heartlake Supermarket has more useful and rare pieces. I like both quite a bit but can only afford to get one. Which is the superior set in your opinion? Quote
wgemini Posted February 20, 2016 Posted February 20, 2016 Any opinion on 70145 Maula's Ice Mammoth Stomper? I really like the look of it, but it's really expensive for only 600 pieces even at 30% off since I am not into Chima. The reviews seem to be rather meh and eurobricks does not have a review. Worth it for a non-Chima lover? Quote

Which is the superior set in your opinion? I am heavily biased in favor of anything with lots of food pieces, so my vote is naturally for the Supermarket. Plus, Friends tends to have a higher turnover rate than Elves, so it's more likely to be hard to find later in the year if you wait. Quote
DraikNova Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 What Nexo Knights sets should I get next? I'm planning on getting all of them (aside from Ultimate Beast Master and probably Ultimate Robin), I've got about 50 euros to spend, I found a shop where most products are at 90% or less of LEGO's normal prices and I already have Ultimate Macy and Moltor's Lava Smasher. Does Lance's horse ($17), the Battle Blaster ($9, I believe, although it may have been even cheaper), the Chaos Catapult (ditto) and Ultimate Lavaria (ditto) sound like a good idea? Or should I just get the Battle Blaster, the Chaos Chariot ($27) and Lavaria? Quote

DraikNova Posted February 21, 2016 Posted February 21, 2016 The King's Mech doesn't interest me that much compared to other Nexo Knights' sets, to be honest. Quote
BlockLogo Posted February 22, 2016 Posted February 22, 2016 I'm not too interested in Nexo Knights since none of the vehicle builds look very appealing to me, but I got the King's Mech because it looked like such a cool set, and it was. The mech was a really fun build, the minifigs are pretty decent (especially king Halbert) and it has some good useful parts.. It's the only Nexo Knights set I have though, other than the freebies, so I have no basis for comparison. Quote
wgemini Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) Slave 1 UCS vs. Temple of Airjizu. Toysrus is offering free bricktobers on these two sets. I have little interests in either franchise. I like the architecture of the temple as well as the shadow show. The windows look great. However, the open back really turns me off. Slave 1 is a more complete model, more iconic and less likely to be on sale, but only 4 mini figures. I would probably choose a modular over both of them, but out of the two, which is better? Edited February 24, 2016 by wgemini Quote
HawkLord Posted February 24, 2016 Posted February 24, 2016 If you really don't care about either IP, I'd go with Ninjago. And that's coming from a guy that primarily collects Star Wars. It's not that Slave 1 is bad, but if you're not at all into Star Wars it becomes a slightly harder set to justify for the minifigure selection and for being a very specific space ship. The build is fun and I really like the color palette and the ultimate version of Boba Fett is a huge selling point. The Temple has way more minifigures and much more cross-line use. Quote
