Pirate Pete Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I was thinking about buying the "Agents" turbocar chase. Is it really worth it or should I save my money. Quote
Natman8000 Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 Hmm, maybe you should give some more info on your motif for wanting to buy it. Its a nice set, kinda chunky buy really fun and has lots of fun parts. For sure worth the price. Quote
Bartram Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 It all really depends on why you want to buy it. Do you only want it because it has a specific item your looking for? Because if that's the case you can always check bricklink for the items. However, it all comes down to you. You have the final say and it's your money. Quote
Ricecracker Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I believe this belongs in this thread . Personally, I really love this set, especially for parts. Quote
WhiteFang Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I was thinking about buying the "Agents" turbocar chase. Is it really worth it or should I save my money. I had merged your topic into here. I am not very sure about this set, but it does provide some sort of playability, I believe. Quote
Holodoc Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I am sort of having trouble deciding what to get for my birthday. I want either the Emerald Night w/ Power Functions and Track, the Green Grocer, or the Town Plan.... What do you like to add the set to? If you´re planning to build something modular and big, you should choose Green Grocer. If you´re having a small town layout, Town Plan would be a nice addition and if you´re into trains, the Emerald Night is a "must buy". It all depends on money, too: Town Plan is at 105€ (amazon.de), Green Grocer will cost you ~50€ more and the most expensive set in that triangle is the EN with PF (around 190€). Quote

Darth_Legois Posted June 28, 2009 Posted June 28, 2009 Sorry to necro post. Vaders Tie vs Helicopter transport They're both on sale, Vaders Tie is $37 and the Transport is $46, I cant get both since I'll be getting alot of other sets (SP3 stuff) so which should I get? Im thinking of getting Vaders tie since its cheaper and its been out longer then transport but is the Transport exclusive and wont be around long? Thanks. Quote
Commander Flash Posted June 29, 2009 Posted June 29, 2009 Although I am partial to star wars, i would get the transport. Its exclusive, and 's tie will be out for a while Quote
Luke McAwesome Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I was thinking about buying the "Agents" turbocar chase. Is it really worth it or should I save my money. I got it, and it is sweet. There is a lot of Technic in the Turbocar, though... Now, if somebody can help me out, I'm having a couple of hard choices as far as impulses, and sets. Impulses 8399 K-9 Bot? 8398 BBQ Stand? 5969 Squidman Escape? The way I see it, I either get K-9 Bot and BBQ Stand, or I get Squidman Escape as far as impulses go. Sets 8402 Sports Car? 7638 Tow Truck? 5970 Freeze Ray Frenzy? I can only get one of these at the moment. Large Sets Now before I make a list, you should all know that before I get any of the following, it will be at the LEGO Store in Bellevue Square when I go to Seattle for BrickCon. M'kay? Good. 7641 City Corner? 10194 Emerald Night? 10193 Medieval Market Village? I really want all of these, but I probably will only have enough money to get two. --------------------- So, can anyone help me out? Quote
Natman8000 Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Striker- For impulses, go for the Squidman set. K-9 is a good set, but the squidman set also comes with a cop. The bbq set is also good, but squidy's is better And for the medium, the tow truck, as you will have the SpIII parts from the the impulse. And the sports car isn't worth $10. And for the big, the MMV is better than those two, its a great set. Quote
ILikePi Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 (edited) Impulses8399 K-9 Bot? 8398 BBQ Stand? 5969 Squidman Escape? I don't really know which ones are the best for these three, since usually all impulses/$6 USD sets are pretty good, and these are no exception. Sets8402 Sports Car? 7638 Tow Truck? 5970 Freeze Ray Frenzy? I wouldn't recommend getting Sports Car, since it is (IMO) really overpriced and has nothing special. Large Sets7641 City Corner? 10194 Emerald Night? 10193 Medieval Market Village? If you can get only two, I would recommend Emerald Night and MMV. Edited June 30, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
legolandia Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 I collect Lego Star Wars figurines only. The two new sets that have just come out (Pirate tank and Home One...) have 7 figurines in them which i dont have. Both cost £125 to buy. I was wondering if it is worth buying the two sets (keeping the figurines and selling the rest on ebay) or waiting for a bit and buying the figurines from Ebay or elsewhere? which one do you think would work out cheaper? I bought the previous two sets (Battle of Endor and Separatist Shuttle for £110) but they worked out quite cheap because they had 11 figurines that i needed. However I am not quite sure about the latest two sets? Quote
Commander Flash Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 (edited) If you do not really want the set, I would suggest Bricklink. If you want the sets, then buy them. I would get Home One, but not the pirate tank. Its not very memorable. Edited June 30, 2009 by Commander Flash Quote
legolandia Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Well i am not bothered about the sets really. I am only interested in the minifigures only. I have checked the Bricklink but it confuses me and I cant work out how to buy from there (i feel thick now ). I would buy the whole thing but am not sure if the set without the minifigs will have a good resale value? (if i can get half of the original price for it then i would be happy). Quote
Spyder Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 THis should belong in the "What Should I Buy" topic. I just can't find it right now to give you a link. Quote
SWMAN Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 From what you have said, Bricklink seems to be your best option. Quote
Drock Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 I doubt the sets would have very high resale value if you try to sell them without the minifigs. The Home One looks like a pretty weak set (the minifigs are its main draw), and as mentioned above, the Pirate Tank isn't an iconic vehicle and isn't well-known. On the other hand, because the figs are exclusive to these sets, it may actually cost more to buy each minifig separately (just look at the bricklink prices for the Separatist Shuttle) than to buy the whole set. If I were you, I would probably just sit on this decision for awhile and see what happens to bricklink/ebay prices after the sets are more readily available everywhere. Quote

Luke McAwesome Posted July 1, 2009 Posted July 1, 2009 Thanks for the help guys. I've decided that I will, as far as large sets go, be getting the Emerald Night and MMV. (Thanks, Pi! ) I'll just ask my family for City Corner for Christmas. As far as impulses, I think I may go with Natman's idea of Squidman Escape, but I'm also iffy because I want the BBQ Stand and I'm more into town than Space. I'll get whatever I see first as far as impulses go. And sets, I will probably get either Tow Truck or Freeze Ray Frenzy, because I like FRF better than K-9 Bot and Squiddy's Escape. Thanks for the help guys! But if anyone else has any other suggestions, I would be happy to take them! Quote
samthelegoman1 Posted July 3, 2009 Posted July 3, 2009 I like Freeze Ray Frenzy, too. I'm starting a neigborhood and need a good modular building. Should I get Cafe Corner or Green Grocer. I'd rather get CC, but I already have a bar and would need to take a lot of peices from my MOC to fill in the interior of the CC. On the other hand, GG looks kinda cramped inside for a kitchen and bathroom, say on, one floor. Quote

It has detailed interiors, while Cafe Corner doesn't, and you only need to pay $10 USD extra (they're both the same size). Also, GG has some detail on the back (fire escape, foliage, and some tools).
