prateek Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 You should've got it before. But there are some used ones on eBay for $20 BTW I think this topic should be pinned like the "What did you buy today?" topic in the Community Forum Quote
-JD- Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Mon Calamari or the RBR? I suppose I have plenty of time to decide, but I could do with some input. Quote
Oky Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Hm, good question. The Home One has lots of great figs and a cool A-Wing, while the Tantive is better as a set IMO. It probably has more useful parts too since the Home One is mostly made out of plates and <insert that tiresome argument> pieces. Plus, the ship can be used for OT and PT (when modded). I'd say, get the RBR and wait for an Ackbar magnet set to come out. Quote
The Who Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 (edited) I am incredibly indecisive, so: A---Temple Of Doom and Neomodian Shuttle B---Two of the Fighter Plane Attack and one Indy Cairo Marketplace or C---One F.P.A., one Canal Chase, one Cairo Marketp., and the Ne. Shuttle? Can anybody *cough*Oky Wan*cough* give advice, suggestions, or completely different alternatives here? Thanks. EDIT: Btw, money is not the problem here. It's the limited space, plus I have other things to buy. Edited August 1, 2009 by booger540 Quote
-JD- Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Definitely 'C'. But they take up a bit of space.... Quote

prateek Posted August 1, 2009 Posted August 1, 2009 Mon Calamari or the RBR? I suppose I have plenty of time to decide, but I could do with some input. What's RBR? Quote
Oky Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Did I hear somebody say cough my name? I'd go with C as well. For me somebody to suggest a completely different alternative, we would have to know what you already have. Quote
Glacarcheo Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Thank you so very much for all the help Oky, but now I must ask for help on one more theme that you know so very much about... Republic Attack Gunship AT-TE Walker Republic Dropship with AT-OT V-19 Torrent Republic Fighter Tank Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser Republic Attack Shuttle Armored Assault Tank Hyena Droid Bomber Corporate Alliance Tank Droid Separatist Spider Droid Droid Gunship Magna Guard Starfighter Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid ... yeah, I need to cherrypick like, 5-8 or something... Quote
ILikePi Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 If you have to take 5 off: Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid (a bit small for a $20 set IMO, but a pretty good battle pack) Separatist Spider Droid (nothing good except for Commander Fox) Droid Gunship (no good figures, but the set looks pretty good) Corporate Alliance Tank Droid (too small and overpriced) Hyena Droid Bomber (looks odd) and if you have to take 8 off: Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid Separatist Spider Droid Droid Gunship Corporate Alliance Tank Droid Hyena Droid Bomber V-19 Torrent (pretty overpriced, and only comes with one minifigure) AT-TE Walker (a bit overpriced and color is bland IMO) Republic Attack Shuttle or MagnaGuard Starfighter (no comment ) I would listen to some other people before you kick some sets off your list, though. Glacarcheo Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I kinda meant I wanted to eliminated them all except for 5-8... Quote
salty tbone Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 I kinda meant I wanted to eliminated them all except for 5-8... My 5 would be Republic Attack Gunship AT-TE Walker Armored Assault Tank Separatist Spider Droid Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid Those five will give you a great mix of clone commanders and droids (plus all but the AAT are older and therefore closer to being OOP). Oky Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 (edited) Oh boy. This is a tough one. Well, let me break these down into categories for you: Bad - Mediocre: Hyena Droid Bomber - Generally, I would never call any SW set bad, but this one is an exception. The set looks almost nothing like it's "real-life" counterpart in either mode (as I pointed out here), it's made out of almost only plates and <insert that tiresome argument> pieces, and has lots of stickers. The rocket droids are kinda nice, but certainly no must-haves. Droid Gunship - Aside from the fact that I doubt that you can still find this for a reasonable price, it's nothing all that special. The figs are pretty basic, and a third of the set is made up of those big <insert that tiresome argument> quarter circle pieces. It's not bad though, and probably a nice addition to any Separatist army. Magna Guard Starfighter - The set is nicely designed, but is nothing too fancy, and the price is a bit high. Plus, it's not the most known or seen vehicle in SW. If you want MagnaGuards, I'd recommend getting the Solar Sailer instead because you get Dooku with that one. In conclusion, I wouldn't recommend these. Good, but not great: V-19 Torrent - A nice set, but very overpriced IMO. It has high swooshability and a very cool wing folding mechanism, but only one fig. Venator-Class Republic Attack Cruiser - Well, aside from the fact that it's completely out of scale and would therefore look out of place next to any other ship, it's overpriced and a bit thrown-together looking. However, it can certainly be modded to look better. Also, it has some neat figs. Hailfire Droid and Spider Droid - This set is pretty neat. Many describe it as a large droid battle pack. A good addition to any CIS army. Separatist Spider Droid - Another large battle pack, although a more expensive one. But the inclusion of that lovely Commander Fox fig makes up for the high price! The Homing Spider Droid tends to lean over, but never falls over. Awesome: Republic Attack Gunship - This set has been voted by EB members as the best SW set to date, even better than the Death Star! It has many great exclusive figs and is very well designed. Even the speederbike that comes with it is very cleverly designed. The only downside of this set is that it has no pilots. AT-TE Walker - One of the most iconic Republic vehicles and the only set to include Captain Rex to date. The interior might need some modding, but the fact that it is compatible with the dropship makes up for it. Plus, it comes with a cool new STAP. Republic Dropship with AT-OT - Isn't it obvious? Aside from the fact that the AT-OT has only six clones to transport, this set is pure win! Republic Fighter Tank - This is one of the best looking vehicles in the entire SW line IMO and TLG executed it very well! Believe me, you wont regret getting this! Republic Attack Shuttle - Even though it's a bit underscaled, this is a nice looking set with good playability. Plus, it comes with Mace freakin' Windu and one of the semi-rare clone pilots. Armored Assault Tank - Come on, it's got Yoda! Besides, it's one of the most iconic CIS vehicles, and I found the build of it quite enjoyable. Corporate Alliance Tank Droid - Aside from the fact that this is also a great addition to any CIS army, it comes with those awesome Jet Troopers! It's just a bit overpriced. So yeah, you should start saving up. My Top 5: Republic Fighter Tank Armored Assault Tank Republic Dropship with AT-OT Republic Attack Gunship Republic Attack Shuttle That's just my opinion of course. Hope that helped. May I ask why you didn't list Anakin's/Ahsoka's Starfighter, Anakin's Y-Wing, Solar Sailer, and Pirate Tank? (It's obvious why you didn't list the Twilight. ) Edited August 2, 2009 by Oky Wan Kenobi Quote
Glacarcheo Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 (edited) Thank you very much, I haven't narrowed it down yet but it will now be much easier! Also, I didn't include those cause I'm more into the clones/droids, I don't really dig the whole Jedi scene and was fairly happy to see them massacured... You can have my Yoda..... Not. Yesterday I was at my nearest Lego store MOA, and they had the Twilight on sale for $50... And I was almost tempted to buy it, but I got the Taj Mahal instead. prateek Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 You should get: Republic Attack Gunship AT-TE Republic Attack Shuttle Republic Dropship with AT-OT Republic Fighter Tank (Clones FTW) Quote
Glacarcheo Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Thanks to everybody for the extreme amount of detailed help. I have the finalized wishlist in my sig, and if someone thinks something should, without a doubt, be changed, please mention it. Thanks! Quote
JCC1004 Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Mon Calamari or the RBR? I suppose I have plenty of time to decide, but I could do with some input. I'm in the same position Jammiedodger. Quote
Glacarcheo Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I'm in the same position Jammiedodger. I personally think that the RBR looks much more interesting to build, and is part of the UCS, so it will have much more attention to detail. The Mon Calamari Home One looks somewhat boring and has a lot of <insert that tiresome argument> pieces and the "Death Star" hologram is simply a Tridax Pod from Bionicle. But then again, I'm not the biggest OT fan, so it might be best to get someone else's opinion aswell. Quote
Spyder Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 I'm in the same position Jammiedodger. Go with the RBR. You may only get one exclusive fig, but for all the pieces, it's worth it. However, if you only collect minifigs, then go with the Home One, because that has just amazing figures going for it. Quote
ILikePi Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) I agree with Spyder. It all depends on what you want more: a good set, or good minifigures. The Home One has new, amazing, and currently exclusive minifigures, but is pretty overpriced. The RBR's price is on the spot, and the set looks really good. However, there seems to be only a small amount of space inside the set, and only comes with one exclusive figure. Good luck on picking a set! Edited August 3, 2009 by ILikePi Quote

-JD- Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 (edited) Dang, it is so hard to some to a decision! I will most likely (using my pychic powers) get the RBR, because it is a whole ship and not just a crappy control room and awesome hanger. Thanks a lot for your input! Anyone else going to help me and JCC1004? Glacarcheo- If I were you, I would get: HSD AT-OT and Dropship RGS AT-TE Clone Fighter Tank Snail Tank RAS and the AAT. I don't know if there accutaly is a sixth Indy set this year. If there is I'll probaly pass or go toward Home One. RBR would look nice on a shelf and reconizeable but Home One ha awsome must have figs. Quote
