ziljin Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 I am looking to make Warhammer 40k tanks, bikes, trucks, walkers and maybe helicopters/aircraft. Any suggestions on sets that have useful bricks that would lend to those constructions. I am guessing I should get at least one of those basic brick boxes to get filler bricks. Quote
Oky Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 The only downside is no Ackabar! Stop calling him that! I am guessing I should get at least one of those basic brick boxes to get filler bricks. Actually, it would make more sense if you buy the bricks individually from Pick-A-Brick. That way, you can get all your bricks in the colors and sizes you need them in. And I'm sure that you can find some other useful parts there as well. I'm not familiar with Warhammer 40k, but since it seems to be about a sci-fi/fantasy war, how about some Star Wars or Castle sets? Maybe even Indiana Jones? And I'm sure that you can find some useful technical-looking parts in Bionicle sets such as this one. Quote
-JD- Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Here is a new one: Chaucilla Cemetary or Camper Quote
Oky Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 (edited) Chauchilla for sure! Any Indy set is better than any City set! Honestly, the only interesting thing about the camper is the hot chick, but she's not worth getting the whole set. Besides, you have quite a few "chicks" already, if I recall correctly! Well I figured pick a brick would be more useful when I get better at building my own creations, so buying sets would help me expand creativity. Having a nice variety of parts, and maybe copy/adapt techniques that are found in those sets. Well currently purchased a few castle sets. Getting some power miners, city and space police. I was thinking of bionicle/exo-force for more technic parts. Then expand into other ranges later. I was just wondering if there were any sets that partically stand out to be great for building military type vehicles. Quote
Oky Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 I was just wondering if there were any sets that partically stand out to be great for building military type vehicles. 7626 Jungle Cutter has lots of great parts for building a (dark green) tank. 7625 River Chase also includes some dark green parts for creating a military vehicle. 7622 Race For the Stolen Treasure includes a grey military jeep. Some Space Police sets, like 5973 Hyperspeed Pursuit and 8400 Space Speeder, have interesting parts, particularly for making weapons. That's all I can think of right now. Does that help? Quote

The Who Posted August 7, 2009 Posted August 7, 2009 A---Temple Of Doom and Neomodian ShuttleB---Two of the Fighter Plane Attack and one Indy Cairo Marketplace or C---One F.P.A., one Canal Chase, one Cairo Marketp., and the Ne. Shuttle? Went with both A and C, but no Fighter Plane Attack. Did I hear somebody say cough my name? I'd go with C as well. For me somebody to suggest a completely different alternative, we would have to know what you already have. Yes.Thanks to you also, and sorry for replying to this a little late. As for another alternative, that could have been anything. I buy doubles of sets all the time for the parts. Quote
JCC1004 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I'll probably get RBR around Cristmas time but in between I had a few ideas. I'm interest in Solar Sailer and Sep. shuttle.I'm leanig more toward Solar Sailer becasue it looks better and was in EP. 2 but it has no landing gear. I lve the figs in the Shuttle and the shape of it, Solar Sailer's shape is very cool. I really only like Dooku and the ship but I like the figs and the ship for the shuttle. Which one should I get first? Both? None? Any help? Quote
The Who Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) ...but it has no landing gear.Yes, it does. It's just hard to see. If you have the money, I would suggest just going for both. The Shuttle is a lot more 'fun' and more worth the price, I think. Though the sailer has been on the shelf longer and will be out of stock sooner. EDIT: As the owner of one of each of the sets, I find the Shuttle to be a little more interesting, with the most awesome figs in a long time. I'd say go for that one. JCC1004 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I still leaning toward the sailer but the shuttle has the feet like landing gear. The sailer also has his speeder, the interior of the shuttle is a little crappy. Quote
The Who Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 You can see the landing gear on the sailer in this pic, which is borrowed from Brickshelf. If you'd rather buy the sailer, I'd say go for it. Or you could always just get both. Quote

It's a great set IMO, especially with the alien figs. Quote
JCC1004 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 (edited) I'll probably get the sailer first then the shuttle since it's newer. Wasn't there a production error where the dome was changed? Edited August 13, 2009 by JCC1004 Quote
Oky Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I'll probably get the sailer first then the shuttle since it's newer. Although the Shuttle is a better deal IMO, I guess that's a good reason to get it second. The Solar Sailer came first and is an exclusive, so it may be discontinued even sooner than the other January sets. Then again, I remember a lot of people not liking the Sailer and therefore not getting it, so it may not sell out that fast. In fact, there is a good chance it'll go on sale before it's discontinued. I guess it's up to you. Quote

JCC1004 Posted August 13, 2009 Posted August 13, 2009 I don't have much cash now after TOD so I'll wait a little longer and hope it goes on sale. I know it's overpriced but the ship has a vey nice shape and will probably look nice on display. I'll prbably find room for both. Thanks guys. Quote
