ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Is a Hogwart 1st edition $60 worth a trade for a complete AT-TE w/o figs? Is the AT-TE even worth it, for that matter. Quote
sok117 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 (edited) I have a very broad question. I have about $50 USD to spend on a lego set. any suggestions on a good one? I like to collect starwars and City. I personally really enjoyed building the new GG starfighter, but it is a little more then what you have, Plo Koon's jedi starfighter looks pretty good, and I've heard from a lot of people that it is a really great buy, but I don't speak from experience. I don't know much about city, since I am A diehard SW fan. Oh shoot, sorry everybody, didn't realize this was on a page that has already been covered, My Bad Edited September 17, 2010 by sok117 Quote

He also offered me Slave 1 with only Boba (2006) and Brickbeard's Bounty. Quote
Clone OPatra Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 What do you mean by Hogwarts 1st Edition $60? What does that "$60" mean? If you just mean trading the original Hogwarts, I would say it depends what you want. That first Hogwarts was pretty lame in my opinion, so I think trading for some of those sets listed could be fine. Did he offer you all three for the Castle, or just one of the three? Quote

It's incomplete and I was asking for $60. BB is the only one I would really like and would want, but I also have to think about what could be worth the most.I might trade/sell one of those. He's offering any one of those three. Quote

Well I got the BB, personally it's not that spectacular when compared to other ships, I did a heavy overhaul on mine which I am surprised I havn't posted yet, maybe on the weekend, but anyways, I'm a big fan of SW, and I'd go with the Slave 1, but I may just be trying to live my dreams of finally owning that awesome set through you. The AT-TE isn't that great by itself, I did some modifications on mine as seen here, as the official one is lacking a lot, I'd personally go with Slave 1 or BB. Hopefully I could be of assistance! ThatGuyWithTheBricks Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Thanks for the suggestions. I actually already own the Slave 1, but it may hold more power. I'll let other people weigh in. Quote

Canada_7 Posted October 2, 2010 Posted October 2, 2010 (edited) Alright, I'm back in this thread with yet another question: Option 1: 7642 Garage, 5891 Apple Tree House, and 21006 The White House all three together for a grand total of $191.45 Canadian. OR Option 2: 10197 Fire Brigade or 10211 Grand Emporium (likely Fire Brigade as it's the older one and will end production sooner) for $225.99 Canadian? Edited October 2, 2010 by Canada_7 Quote

Daniel Williams Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 Hi, I'm not sure if I should get the Fire Brigade or should I get the Grand Emporium, I was thinking of saving the money for the Grand Emporium (163.10 after taxes) and than found out that the Fire Brigade is the same price. So anyway, I want a fire station that looks cool, but I'm not sure if it's worth the price, can someone tell me what the pros and cons are for both sets? Thnks in advance Quote
prateek Posted October 3, 2010 Posted October 3, 2010 You should read reviews on this site. There are some really awesome ones of the sets you're looking for. I'd go with GE, because IMO, it's way cooler than FB. Quote
sok117 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 Should I get clone army battlepacks, or the republic swampspeeder? I really want Barriss and the ship doesn't look half bad itself, but I do want more clones, but I really dislike the walker? What should I do, or should I get the corprate alliance tank droid, and one or two of the clone battle packs? Quote

Personally I would get some clone battle packs and use walker for parts The swamp speeder does have two exclusive figs but Barris is in a magnet pack here. But if you want the clone thats exclusive to the swamp speeder than get the swamp speeder Edited October 9, 2010 by Darth Jar Jar Quote

Buy a lot of the Clone BPs, sell the walkers for $1-2 each and use that money to compensate the price of Bariss on BL Quote
sok117 Posted October 9, 2010 Posted October 9, 2010 hey thanks, those are all great ideas, but I can't buy things online, let alone sell them. And I would either have to go across the border, or all the way to calgar to get that magnet set, and I can't drive, let alone buy a plane ticket. I guess Barris and I just weren't meant to be Quote

If I were you, buy the Swamp Speeder during Bricktober so you get something a "reward" for getting it, and save up money for some Clone BPs, since they are relatively cheap and really easy to come by. (my Wal-Mart has more Clone BPs than both Hoth BPs combined.) Quote
Darth Baboon Posted October 14, 2010 Posted October 14, 2010 Is the Grand Carousel 10196 a great set to get? My wife is attracted to it, plus I am not sure when it would be discontinued. Thanks! Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 I'm going to place a Shop at Home order in the next few days that will get me the Winter Village Bakery, aaaaaannnd... something else. Unfortunately, I'm always short of funds and can't get all the sets I wants right away (I'm sure this sounds familiar to most of you), so I find myself in a constant state of "LEGO set acquisition triage," getting various sets at different times, trying to time things so I can get as many of the sets I want before they're gone. Sets I'm currently thinking about including with my Winter Village Bakery order: 9247 - Community Workers 6243 - Brickbeard's Bounty 10193 - Medieval Market Village 10185 - Green Grocer 10198 - Tantive IV I want all of these, so I'm not asking which I should get based on what's a more desirable set; I'm asking based on which is/are likeliest to become unavailable the soonest. I'm hoping to eventually get all of them, but I'm afraid I can't just go order all of them at once right now. In the opinions of EB's better informed members, what should I go for right now in order to best ensure I get it? Quote

In the opinions of EB's better informed members, what should I go for right now in order to best ensure I get it? I would get Brickbeards bounty and MMV. Community workers has been there forever, and Green grocer should stay with the other buildings for a while. As for the tantive IV, I'm not sure. I hoped this helped. Quote
prateek Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 (edited) If I were you, I'd get MMV and GG. These two are gonna be discontinued very soon. Plus, these will start getting expensive once they are. Brickbeard's Bounty won't be as expensive on the aftermarket as the MMV and GG sets. Edited October 23, 2010 by prateek Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted October 23, 2010 Posted October 23, 2010 MMV and GG together (alongside WVB, remember) are a bit much for me at the moment; I was thinking of $150 or so aside from the WVB (so, say, GG, or T4, or Community Workers and either BB or MMV). If not for my spending limits, GG and MMV together would make for a delicious purchase, but I'm not sure yet if I can do both (though I'll continue to review my funds over the next few days, and perhaps I'll decide I can do both after all). It's conceivable I might decide $250 is too much on these sets (in addition to the $55 for WVB, which I'm getting regardless of whatever else I get), but $200 is acceptable for now, in which case I'd be choosing between either MMV and BB together, or CW and GG, or CW and T4. Argh - decisions, decisions! May I at least safely assume Green Grocer is likely to go away before the Tantive IV does, and therefore remove T4 from consideration for the moment? I know Community Workers seems perhaps a little out of place with the others, but I was thinking it might not be long for this world, since it's a set concept that does get updated from time to time (the current one is actually the second such set with that set number), and this current version has been available a few years, plus it's people entirely with folks with classic smileys, who seem to be mostly on the way out (the classic smiley even disappeared from the PAB selection recently). Am I wrong to be concerned about it? Will it still be around in a few months? Quote
Follows Closely Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 (edited) I would pass on the Community Workers as you can get figs off from bl for a reasonable price. The MMV and GG will not be around many more months. Edited October 25, 2010 by Follows Closely Quote
autobrick Posted October 25, 2010 Posted October 25, 2010 Hello All! I am currently looking to expand my OT Star Wars collection and I am considering buying the 10188 Death Star. Right now the only OT sets I have are the Hoth battlepacks, Wampa Cave and Echo base. I do not have any other Star Wars minifigs and I would love to pick up some other characters (Darth Vader, R2-D2, Yoda, Chewie, etc.). What I like about the 10188 Death Star is the fact that it includes many of the significant characters from OT, all in one set. Also, each section of the set is like a mini-vignette, which is really cool. However the price is $500 CAD + $65 CAD tax. If it was $300, there would be no question, but at $500? I could buy a lot of Lego for the money. A lot. However, if I don't buy the Death Star, I will have to buy from the current line-up in-store, which I am not so keen on. The 6212 X-wing has nice figs, but I never was a big fan of the ship from the movies and it seems pretty expensive ($80 CAD for a four year old set with only 415 pieces?!). 8017 Darth Vader's Tie Fighter has Darth Vader, but again, I never really liked TIE fighters either. Slave I is too expensive considering I would be buying the set just for Boba Fett. The AT-ATs (motorized and not) don't have the 'must-have-it' factor so I will pass on those. I do like the 8092 Landspeeder, so I will get this if I don't get the Death Star. But what else to get? I would rather not buy all of the minifigures from Bricklink. Maybe a couple (Ackbar!) but I really do want some sets. At this point, I am leaning towards not getting the Death Star, but what would I get otherwise? Quote
