Lord Embo Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I have another dilemma; should I(next year, of course) buy Diagon Alley, buy some of the PotC sets or buy some of the Star Wars Summer sets? This is a very difficult dilemma as I won't have as much money in the Summer of next year than in January because of the sets coming out around that time of year. So what do you think I should do? Lord Embo Can someone reply to this? This is a dilemma I want to get around quickly so as to be able to plan my spendings for 2011. Lord Embo Quote

yumiyoshi Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Here's my dilemma: Imperial Flagship or the At-At ? Two completely different sets, still, 2 amazing sets in my opinion. It's gonna be a sort of present, and the receiver is torned too between the 2 choices. He didn't like the not-motorized At-At, but as def pointed it out to me there are a lot of minifig on that set! def Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 Keep in mind that, since PotC is out next year, Pirates are coming back in vogue Quote
vexorian Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I'd go for the AT&T simply because it is more iconic. That increases its appeal to me at least, and I think that also makes it more likely to become harder to find later. Quote
Lord Embo Posted November 30, 2010 Posted November 30, 2010 I would wait till we get pics for the PotC sets and the summer sets first Good point. That may make deciding on what I'm going to get a lot easier. Thanks for the tip. Lord Embo Quote
Pazoozoo Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 (edited) Hi everyone, I have just ordered today the 3 following sets for my Christmas present before it's sold out: - 10199 Winter Toy Shop - 10216 Winter Village Bekery - 10193 Medieval Market Village ... All in double. Fred. Edited December 1, 2010 by Pazoozoo Quote
Lord Embo Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Here's my dilemma: Imperial Flagship or the At-At ? I'd go with the AT-AT. Mind you, in any case I would go with Star Wars. Also, I'm not really a fan of Pirates(save PotC) but it is all down to which theme the reciever likes most; that should be a pretty good way to make the final decision. Lord Embo Quote
estephano (DE) Posted December 1, 2010 Posted December 1, 2010 Usually I'd always got for City as it's my favourite theme but as for the 2010' calenders I recommand to buy the Kingdoms calenders simply for it's mini figueres and some really nice extra pieces that are quite unusual Quote

I'd go with the Flag Ship. IMO, it's a more complete set, and it is way cooler. It all depends on the receiver's interests though. Quote
WhiteFang Posted December 2, 2010 Posted December 2, 2010 I'm completely torn between between the two Lego advent calendars on offer. Normally I would go with City as my preferred theme, but the Castle/Kingdoms one has a few good and uncommon parts in it. Which would you recommend? I had merged your topic into this discussion since the agenda is pretty similar. Quote

That increases its appeal to me at least, and I think that also makes it more likely to become harder to find later. I just noticed Imperial flag ship and not Imperial shuttle. It is the Imperial Flag ship 100%. If you like LEGO boats (And I bet you do else you wouldn't be giving it) then the Imperial Flag ship is a unique chance. The AT&T on the other hand, will most likely appear in shelves again in a couple of years and possibly in a better version... Quote

It is inevitable that another AT-AT will appear in the near future, but that's for another topic. Lord Embo Edited December 4, 2010 by Lord Embo Quote
yumiyoshi Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I got the Imperial Flagship, which I don't regret per se. What I regret it's not buying the green grocer in time before it went sold out everywhere. I stupidly thought "let's buy it after Xmas Lego expenses since the grocer it's just a guilty pleasure of mine", without remembering the topic "Green Grocer will stop production on December the 31" Anyway, the Flagship has already been shipped and it should arrive next week. Can't wait to start building it!!! :D Ps. it's a present, but I'll help :P Quote
Follows Closely Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 GG is still reasonable on bricklink. It will be in the $300s soon. Quote

Search around on the Internet ASAP; prices will probably skyrocket very soon. Lord Embo Edited December 5, 2010 by Lord Embo Quote
RoryoCox Posted December 7, 2010 Posted December 7, 2010 Not to be one to use this topic I am stuck as too what to buy. I have an extra £40 pounds and I want to buy a set. I was looking at something Star Wars or anything which is a good deal. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? It would be really helpful in helping me make my decision. Quote

You could buy the Hoth Wampa Cave; that's only £30-£35(yes, it varies among places) which will leave you with an extra £5 to save up for 2011 sets. Lord Embo Quote

I am an adult collector so these would be for playing with!! It seems the mini figures with home one are unique to the set, whereas the at at has lots of recycled figures. The at at looks a great build though. Maybe an impulse purchase is the answer- decide in the shop. Thanks, Ed Quote

Blackknight112 Posted December 10, 2010 Posted December 10, 2010 I have a chance to pick up 2 UCS AT-ST for 160€ (about 210 US$ a guess?), the sets are new, but the boxes are in bad condition. Do you guys think I should pick them up, or just one? Quote

It's a good build though. Quote
freeedrik Posted December 13, 2010 Posted December 13, 2010 A whole box of CM3 or all the unique CM3s figs + the new police hellicopter? Quote
