LEGO AFOL Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Whitefang, I lived in same country as you. Does toy r us still sell the 8404 ? Is there any hotline I can call the toy r us shop to ask. The 8404 is so cool, It even have a road sweeper. I like that set so much but I went to a few toy r us outlets in paragon and forum, I did not see any 8404 there. Same for the Toy r us truck. ( the blue one similar to LEGO yellow truck). I am seriously looking for 8404 and blue toy r us Truck. That shouldn't be too hard. I own both sets and I really think the exclusive TRU 8404 Public City Transport appeals to me the most. Not because of its exclusivity but for the fact, that this set boost a greater and stronger presence of LEGO public transport system to cater for your City population growth and at the same time, it can always be revamp and integrated into your City layouts very easily. For the Farm, the selling point could be its unique cows. If you own the current City Farm collection, then this is the main highlight and you shouldn't miss it for anything. Of course, if you are planning to build a countryside, this is also a good set to start with. But I couldn't really bother with this set, if you only have just one choice. If I was you, the 8404 Public City Transport System is the one for me. I really need the 8404 public transport and toy r us blue truck. I cant find them in two toy r us outlets that I went to at forum the shopping mall and Paragon shopping centre. Sad. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 I couldn't find any Toys R Us set in Michigan, at 3 different stores. My parents who went to Toronto last fall found them there and got me one. It's odd that Canada store seems to have more of Lego sets not found in USA stores. Like those crossover train tracks that I got $30 each, just before they were discontinued and jumped to over $60 used. Quote
Zeya Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Fire Brigade will surely be there until september and most likely even longer, until nex spring or even later. Green grocer just disapeared around half year ago, almost after 3 years on market, Cafe Corner was also present for two and a half years, so I expect similar for Fire Brigade. Ify you want to go modular then of course start with Fire Brigade, even if its not your favorite set. Believe me, you will be sorry if you dont get it after its gone, because prices will just rise. I wil never forget myself for not getting Market street (only one which I dont have). You will have at least one year to get Grand Emporium and at least two years for Pet Shop. I also realized something this morning. I saw my "early summer" product catalog on my coffee table, and looked to see all 3 current modular buildings in there, which implies that they will likely be around until the next product catalog comes, at least. Next catalog would probably come in about 3 months or so. Quote
Canada_7 Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 (edited) I'm considering between 21005 Fallingwater or 21009 Farnsworth House. Not necssarily getting them immediately but just prioritizing them. I do realize that Fallingwater came out earlier than Farnsworth House. Which of the two would you guys prefer? Edited May 21, 2011 by Canada_7 Quote
minifig_gal Posted May 21, 2011 Posted May 21, 2011 Right. I have a £50-ish budget with which I can buy whatever set I like, but my husband has also said he'd like me to review said set and post it here for everyone (he's been reviewing software etc for years and thinks I should have a go at reviewing something that I'm interested in, and I'd love to give it a shot). I'm going to restrict it to either City or Creator, but beyond that I'm fairly openminded. I'm usually all about houses but fancy a change of scene/theme but not sure what way to go. Any suggestions? A couple of smaller sets would do either. Sorry for giving you so little to go on! Quote
Zyniker Posted May 22, 2011 Posted May 22, 2011 I think Fallingwater looks better and seems to be the more pleasant build, so IMO you should get that one first. Quote
Vindicare Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 It's not a which to buy set, rather a convince me to buy or not. So, I like the looks of the Earth Defence HQ from Alien Conquest. For some reason I just can't push myself to get it. So, I'm leaving it to you guys. I'm on the fence and can't decide which way to jump?! Quote
Fraden Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 Hi, I need help deciding what to buy: 7930: Bounty Hunter Assault http://www.amazon.co...JN2Y1J9JAC0WPR8 Good for the characters, and the dark green Or 7931: T-6 Jedi Shuttle http://www.amazon.co...JN2Y1J9JAC0WPR8 Good characters again, and I like the cockpit. Quote
RileyC Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Fraden I had the same choice as you. I chose the Bounty Hunter Gunship because I thought it was a better looking set and its also quite a unique set. With 3/4 minifigs being all new and being all Bounty Hunters come from just one CW episode is pretty odd. And being an all green ship is a refreshing change to the grey we always get. Im glad I chose it over the Shuttle because the minifigs are amazing. Aurra Sing and Embo are beautiful and Sugi rounds off the set well. While the Assassin Droid is a bit of a let down its better than getting another Anakin. Quote
Masked Builder Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 (edited) So I want to get 4867, which I cen get this weekend, or I can wait to get 7959 when it come out in the US. Both sets I plan on getting, I'll get which ever one I don't get now later, and then reviewing. Any thoughts? Edited June 2, 2011 by Masked Builder Quote
prateek Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Then get the Hogwarts this weekend and review it ASAP! Quote
Piranha Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 going to the LEGO Store soon, only enough cash for one Maersk Train or Emerald Night Quote
Lego Otaku Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Emerald night for sure, it's been out long and could get discontinued any time. Maersk set is new, only a couple months old and won't get discontinued anytime soon. Quote
Nebsirob Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 (edited) I have a "In which order should I buy these sets?"-problem. Until the end of the year, I want to buy: 8404 Public Transport, 7939 Cargo Train, and 10194 Emerald Night. For the Cargo Train, I have to save money for 4 months. As for the other two sets, the corresponding period would be 2 months. Since I have already saved money for 2 months, I need another 6 months for all three sets (thus, ending my acquisitions in december). Therefore, I could get the Public Transport, or the Emerald Night this month, or wait another 2 months, and buy the Cargo Train. As, mentioned in other posts, the Cargo Train may soon be replaced with a new one, the Emerald Night's shelf-time lasts already longer than expected, and the Public Transport's days as a "2010" Fan-choice-set may be over, too. So, which is the best order, to ensure, that I get all 3 sets, before they are gone for good? Edited June 6, 2011 by Nebsirob Quote
Vindicare Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 I think you should definitely get 8404 Public Transport first. As far as the trains, if you're making a city scene, go with the 7939 Cargo Train. It has a more modern city feel/look to it. If you're getting them just to get them, go with10194 Emerald Night. Quote
Nebsirob Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Thanks, Legocrazy81. So my buying-order looks like this: June: Public Transport October: Cargo Train December: Emerald Night (if still available) Quote
Mrlegoninja Posted June 6, 2011 Posted June 6, 2011 Thanks, Legocrazy81. So my buying-order looks like this: June: Public Transport October: Cargo Train December: Emerald Night (if still available) I disagree with Legocrazy81. I think you should get the Emerald Night first as it is an exclusive is is probably going to be replaced by some other Exclusive (Like the supposed VW van). Then, get the Cargo Train. It'll most likely get canceled by the other one coming out. Last, get Public Transport. It'll be there for the most time, both from TRU and LEGO. So, Emerald Night, Cargo Train, and then Public Transport. I hope I was helpful to you. Quote
Nebsirob Posted June 7, 2011 Posted June 7, 2011 I think you should get the Emerald Night first... Get Emerald Night first! Hmm, seems to me, that Legocrazy81 is outvoted. I guess, I'll proceed, according to Mrlegoninja's list. Thank you for the replies. Quote

You should get the EN first, followed by either of the other two next. They'll be around for awhile, as they both came out at about the same time. Quote
Stegoceras Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 So the problem is this, there are two sets that currently have my attention. 8098 Clone Turbo Tank for 99,99 Euro - Very good price per piece ratio, I can only presume it's on discount at this time (looking at the price and comparing it with other stores) - Impressive vehicle which would look nice in the collection - Some nice minifgures (don't even have an CW Ahsoka and Anakin yet) or 8038 Battle of Endor for 99 Euro - Very positive reviews on this one - Might go out of production soon - A excellent collection of Minifgures with regular faces, (sadly not all pupilled which i like better, but at least noy CW faces which are pretty ugly most of the time) So as you can see I'm locked in my decision here, want to know what you guys think and what your main reason would be to pick one over the other. I'd very likely try my best to get the other set as well, but it might take a few months before I get the chance. Quote

But, then you get 3 Jedi(well, 2 + padawan) and the AT-RT is a cool little walker. Plus, price wise, it's cheaper than it should be, which may not last. Quote

The price of both sets is almost the same so it's not really a factor for comparison. Stegoceras, I say go for the Battle of Endor because it has the shorter shelf life. This set has been out since 2009 and is on its way out. In most cases, buy the set that is going out of production soon to avoid overpaying MSRP on the secondary market. Quote
Masked Builder Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I can really reccommend the Clone Turbo Tank. And I do agree, it looks very good on the shelf. Quote
