I've been thinking about this for a while, and I've finally decided to ask it: What HP set should I get first? The Knight Bus (2011), or the new add-on to Hogwarts (I have the castle set from last year, and I'm interested in seeing how they go together)?

Amazon still has 10213 shuttle set at regular price. Do I get them and get the service pack to fix the faulty tank construction, or wait for 10231 when it's available?Piece counts seems very close with the older one having slightly more after service pack comes in.

There are a list of differences between the sets. See here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=54861&st=15

From what I understand, the new version is to make it more playable and easier to build for kids, not to fix a fault in the old set.

I'd go with Hogwarts first. I haven't put it with my castle, but there's a picture of it in the review I believe SuperChris did.

I've really been looking at the upcoming large Star Wars sets, and have found an easy way to get two of them. I'm not as worried about the Frigate, which leaves one- likely the Falcon. My local TRU still has the Juggernaut (at least last time I checked) so I was wondering if I should get that now, or wait and get the Falcon.

Both have pretty nice pieces, average design, and a couple exclusive minifigs, so I think it really comes down to whether you want CW or OT. And there's always the issue of time of retirement, in which case you'd go with the CTT since it's the older set.

As a Train nut I got the Cargo Train and City Transport using TRU's BOGO. Threw in a Caillou doll for my daughter. Last time I felt so guilty when we got the Lego box and it was all stuff for me. WORST DAD EVER!

I would like to buy one of the big ships available at the moment. It's a choice between the Imperial Flagship or the Queen Anne's Revenge. Which is the better set in your opinion, and was it worth the price for you?

Thank you!

It is going away sooner, and it is a better all around ship. In my opinion the only thing QAR has going for it is the figs.

I don't have the QAR, but I would definitely go with 10210 Imperial Flagship. It's such an impressive ship and a pretty good build.

And of course, there's the going into retirement soon, in which case the Flagship would also be the way to go. Even though it is quite a bit more, you won't be disappointed when you see the finished model up on your shelf.

I can only speak as an owner of the Imperial flagship having purchased it last year at the Myer sale. It's an extremely long and rewarding build and is the most beautiful ship to display. As I love pirate ships before I saw pics I always wanted the QAR as well. However after downloading the instructions so I could study every detail of it I was a bit underwhelmed particularly in comparison to the Imperial Flagship. Perhaps you could download the IF instructions and see if it's the sort of ship you'll like. The little touches that aren't always obvious from the big pics are brilliant.

So if you can get the IF at the current cheap price at Myer, go for it. You won't regret it, and even if you do, it wouldn't be hard to sell later on at a decent price.

I'm not even a really big fan of Pirates theme, only having 6242(always was a fan of the soldier faction). But when I first saw pictures I really liked it. Then, after visiting a Lego store and seeing it displayed just completely sold me. I think, even if you're not a fan/collector of pirates, you'll love this set.

What kind of question is that?!? Of course get the Imperial Flagship.

Well, since the votes are overwhelmingly in support of the Imperial Flagship, it looks so obvious now. default_classic.gif

I'm also looking at another set, but I'm not sure if it's a fair comparison. Would you the Imperial Flagship or the Shuttle Adventure?

I'd still go with the IF. While the Shuttle Adventure is a really cool set, it can't match up with the IF. Aside from the modulars and 10195, that's at the top of my collection for the wow factor. When I had my IF on display, some people had to look twice to see that it was in fact Lego, after I told them.

Not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but US ToysRUs is having a "Buy 2 get the third 90% Off" Sale.

I was thoroughly disappointed with their online store shipping on my last purchase (both items in stock, one took two weeks to arrive) but I may go see what the local shop has in stock.

I just came from my local TRU, and was totally suprised about the sale. I got the Pharaoh's Quest Pyramid and Sphinx... then the Cobra set for $3! I might go back for more...

I'm stuck about what sets to buy. I have a very low LEGO budget; around £20. So here's the sets I want:

The Captain's Cabin

Dobby's Release

The Forbidden Forest

Isla de la Muerta

I'd be willing to pay more for Isla de la Muerta because it has the most parts I want. I'm interested in treasure, female minifigure parts and bottles.

What do you think? Help would be appreciated :sweet: !

Does everybody buy direct? Ever heard of sales and Bricklink? :hmpf_bad:

If you have a budget you could try a cheaper alternative, but if you just want a set, then yes go with Isla de la Muerta because it has the most parts you want and there is tresure and bottles but mostly because there are female minifigure parts.

jk Have fun!

I know about Bricklink etc., but I just don't buy online. I've had bad experiences previously, that's why I only trade or buy direct.

I would buy Isla de la Muerta because it has all the things I'm interested in besides bottles. However, the Forbidden Forest also has a female, and both Freeing Dobby and Captain's Cabin have female hairpieces, and the Captain's Cabin also has bottles. If I got the Isla de la Muerta I would only get one female fig/hairpiece, but if I got two of the cheaper sets I'd get two.

So what do you think now?

Eh...I don't know about Lucius Malfoys hair being used as female hair, it would just look weird...only because the front would look really strange because there's no bangs, just a high part. But, I've ne er seen it done, I just imagine it'd be weird, maybe not though.

To answer your question. I'd get Isla de la Muerta set because Elizabeths hair is just ao cool. And you get tye new gold bars in shiny gold(2).

Thanks. I think I'll just get Isla de la Muerta then, it seems to be the smartest option.

About Lucius' hair being used on a female, they used it on Poison Ivy and a few chess queens, and I think it looked quite good. But I think I'd rather have Elizabeth's hairpiece, anyway.

EDIT: I went it Argos this morning, and they had no Isla de la Muertas in stock. Earlier, though, I'd found £5 worth of coins lying around my room, and I had a spare fiver. So I went to ASDA and bought te Captain's Cabin. I think I should still be able to get Isla de la Muerta when it's back in stock, and if not I'll just get the Forbidden Forest or Dobby's Release.

EDIT #2: Here's a picture to show you how it looks on a female:

I think it looks alright. How about you?

I'm torn between a few items:

Grand Emporium

Emerald Night

Imperial Flagship

For reference, I only have one modular building (Fire Brigade) although ideally, I would like to get both GE and Pet Shop in time (but as Pet Shop has only just been released, I'm not thinking about that yet). I do not have any trains or track, but I like the look of Emerald Night and have heard positive reviews about the build. I am a classic Pirate collector (all of my sets are from the 80s/90s), but I was never tempted enough to buy ships - I have nearly all the bases, but not a single ship.

So with all that in mind, you can probably see why I'm stuck what to get.

Is there any information about set retirement out there? I know all 3 are probably nearing the end of their lifespan, but is one nearer the end than the others?

Thanks for any help!
