Okay, looking to exploit the BOGO50 at TRU, and have some decisions to make. I'm looking to spend about $85USD, and can go these routes depending on my want list:

  1. I can do the 7189 Village Mill Raid and get the 7052 UFO Abduction for 50%. Abduction is almost a must for this round of buying.
  2. I can get the 7188 King's Carriage Ambush and get the 7052 UFO Abduction for 50%, and still have enough to get the POTC 4192 Fountain of Youth and the 7051 Alien Tripod Invader for 50% with just a few more dollars. That's quite a lot of sets and 12 figs total-- but I am going over my own limit.
  3. I can get the 4193 POTC London Escape and the 7052 UFO Abduction for 50%, and actually leave $15 in my wallet. Or I could grab the King's Carriage as the 50% set for just $5 more, but then I don't get the UFO. Either way it saves some money for the coming wave of Series 5.

Decisions, decisions... any thoughts?

I'd go with option 1. Both sets are great. The Mill set has chickens, goats, buckets and is a cool set overall. UFO set is just as good, the abduction feature is great and comical. Lots of good figs as well.

I'm SO torn between all of these sets. I want to finish this year's castle line, but the UFO and the London Escape tempt me as well. Thanks for your take!

Is the 10188 Death Star worth getting, I love collecting OT Star Wars, and UCS sets, but is it as great as everyone says. Also there are a few things I really want to buy this year including the 10221 Super Star Destroyer, VW Van, the two exclusive system range Star Wars sets 7877 and 7879, Winter Post Office and series 5 minifies, so is the Death Star also worth getting.

I would say it is a great set, and since you already like Star Wars I would really have to say I recommend it. It's a pretty fun set to build, and you can use it as a pretty cool display piece, as it comes with pretty much all the important minifigs to recreate every Death Star scene in the Trilogy. I know it's really expensive, but it was worth it to me, and I'm certain it will skyrocket in price when it's discontinued, which could happen soon. I'd read a few of the reviews on this site to see if you like the details of it, I know it's a pretty big decision.

Also, with the new Tie Fighter, we will get new Death Star Troopers that I'm really excited to add to my Death Star, that's another slight plus for the set.

Hi all,

I have a problem. I stopped collecting lego until last October when the new Harry Potter series came out. So far, I have all the sets apart from the Diagon Alley. Now, my problem is that I no longer buy big, expensive sets. However after seeing the Alley set at the convention, I was wondering whether or not it is worth it.

Because it's an exclusive, does that mean it only stays for a certain length of time. My other problem is that I think it is a very expensive set for what it's worth.

Please help, I'm not sure. But I am trying to slow down collecting lego these days :sadnew: sorry

So I recently got back to LEGO after 15-16 years, but my budget's really tight right now. I really want both the flatbed truck (8109) and unimog U400 (8110). The flatbed truck is wicked looking and will look nicely next to container truck (8052). But the Unimog is about the size of a minivan and will be an awesome conversation piece (not to say the motorized excavator (8043)). Or I can simply wait and not buy anything since I already have 12 technic sets...

I'd say yes it's worth it. While there's a few figs that are repeats, the selection is really good. All the buildings ate really neat and it's a pretty fun build. Plus, it's a pretty good value for the money, 3 buildings, a lot of good pieces if you're into MOCing(glow in the dark pieces).

Jet Copter. It's got them awesome flick fires  .

Seriously though I do think it's the better set, because as Masked said the pieces are great and the design is nice. Also $/piece is better.

Get 'em both!

There is a BOGO 1/2 off at TRU on all Lego.

Seriously though, that is a really hard decision. I'd have to go with Jet Copter too, but the Carriage is also awesome. I think it would be best to get Jet Copter now, and then wait for a sale on Kingdoms, since I always see them for sale.

Well yeah, BOGO is the plan! I guess the real question at this point would be:

  • Jet Copter AND the King's Carriage for $60.00 USD,
  • Jet Copter and UFO Abduction for $55.00 USD,
  • or King's Carriage and UFO Abduction for $55.00 USD.

Been struggling with this all day... and will be leaving shortly to make the purchase and STILL haven't decided!!

Option B. Alien Conquest is just a great theme and both those are good sets. Plus, you can't have an air battle with a carriage...

any army builders?

Would you prefer to buy say 100 of the same torso or horse barding because its cheaper than the rest. Or get say 50 of each despite the other one(s) being more expensive? Like Lion Knight Horse bardings the one in the prison tower rescue is a little cheaper than the one in the king's castle. pay extra for the variety?

There's a 8421 set up for sale for €50 / $71 near to me. I already have one, but thinking about the large number of parts you get in this set, I'm thinking of picking it up.

Good deal or still overpriced?

I can't find the ad on the homepage but lots of Lego kits on ToysRUs' website are coming up "Buy One Get one Half Off". Every City and Pirates set I checked was.

Considering the Imperial Flagship and the new Cargo Train set.

Then get both, since it's BOGO 1/2 off. If you only picked one, it wouldn't be BOGO, now would it?

Ha! I meant I am considering whether to buy that pair. :classic: Wasn't asking for help choosing, just writing out my thoughts as I try to justify the purchase. I promised to limit myself to one big purchase a month and the new month is just a few days away!

Okay so for today I'm looking into getting one or two of the following sets. 7868 Mace Windu's Star Fighter, 7067 Jet Copter Encounter, 3858 Waldruk Forest, 2232 Raw Jaw, or 2254 Mountain Shrine. I'm looking to spend under $50 so feel free to mix and match these!

Well, if you like/have/want droids, Windus JSF is good since you get 2 STAPS. I know a lot of people don't care much for them, but I like them, and his is alright. It could use a little more color though.

The Jet Copter is an awesome set, very cool copter and a fun build. The figs are cool.

I looked up 3858 and 2232. I'm not into the Lego games, but 3858 does look pretty cool, as does 2232, which I'm also not really into.

Don't have 2254 Mountain Shrine, but it doesn't look like too bad a set.
