Vindicare Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 My next debate after the pet shop - Fire Brigade vs. Imperial Flagship.... thoughts? Wow, very hard choice here, seeing as you've got most(if not all) of the modulars, but the flagship is just so great a set. The Flagship is such an impressive set, whenever I tell people who are looking at it that it's Lego, there jaws hit the ground and are shocked, it looks that good. But, the Fire Brigade is a great set too. But, I have to give my vote to the Flagship, I'm not even into Pirates, but I jumped on this the day it came out. One thing though, it doesn't come with enough cannons; which is an ongoing problem with ships it seems. Quote

Have had the IFS for about a year and am building the Fire Brigade at the moment. If I had to choose, I would go with the IFS. It's big and really stunning to look at (and play with). I've got a bunch of large sets nicely displayed in my study, and most eyes just naturally gravitate to the IFS. And it stands alone very nicely, like a focal piece of art in a domestic library. 50missioncap Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Any thoughts on the robie house? Falling water was an excellent set... But 200 seems steep. Quote
prateek Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Any thoughts on the robie house? Falling water was an excellent set... But 200 seems steep. I have a hunch that the price of Robie house is gonna drop, so I'd hold out. Quote
L@go Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Any thoughts on the robie house? Falling water was an excellent set... But 200 seems steep. I've got all of the Architecture sets so far, and I have to say that Fallingwater is still my favourite, even after building Robie House. The colour of Robie House is lovely, but it's quite a repetitive build with all those 1x2 plates. Still, it looks good sitting on the shelf :) Quote
Masked Builder Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 So, do I buy some LEGO with that 20% off coupon at my ToysRUs or wait till next Friday? Quote
Darkdragon Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 So, do I buy some LEGO with that 20% off coupon at my ToysRUs or wait till next Friday? Why wait? Buy some today with the coupon and next Friday with the sales. Quote
Masked Builder Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Why wait? Buy some today with the coupon and next Friday with the sales. Well I want the $50 Dino set as well as the $30. But, I don't have enough for both days. Quote
Darkdragon Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Are you putting Food and Shelter about buying the LEGO sets you want? What's the point of a full belly if you have nothing to do all week? Quote

nicoga3000 Posted November 19, 2011 Posted November 19, 2011 I just grabbed the new VW and the Lighthouse Creator Set. I'm kind of trying to decide in if the Tower Bridge (10214) is worth the high price tag. The set looks nice, has a lot of pieces, but in terms of MOC use - how viable is it? Are there better options for that price point? I want to take advantage of the double point thing they have going on today at S@H. I'd maybe wait for some crazy sales or whatever, but I hate shopping Friday after Turkey Day...I'll probably miss out on some crazy good deals on Lego, but it's the price I pay I guess, haha. Quote

Black Friday deals are kinda weak this year, actually... Target's offering the Pharaoh's Quest Pyramid and the Portal of Atlantis for $65USD. TRU's offering 40% off Lego Games, 35% off PQ Flying Mummies, PQ Sphinx, and City Airport & City Corner. Amazon's deals have been pretty great, obviously. Otherwise pretty slim pickin's... we'll have to see if 'Cyber Monday' offers anything special. Quote

That being said, I'll still try and sort o it my Tower Bridge dilemma! Quote

I'm no MOCer, so I can't help you in that department. But, I say, if you have the money and want it, get it. It makes one helluva display piece. Quote

I visited the new store yesterday, and that's where I saw it [again]. I wanted the new VW, so that came first, the Lighthouse Creator set was just too good of a deal to pass up (500 pieces for $40? Yes please), so I passed on the Tower Bridge. But the more I think about it, the more I sort of want that thing. My family is always wanting to get me things for Christmas (even though I'm a grown man lol), so I may just tell them to get me a Lego gift card so I can apply it towards a nice purchase like that. 382nd Legionnaire Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 Is Lego doing anything for Black Friday this year? My parents said I got the VIP invitation for my store, but I'm still at college so I couldn't attend. I remember last year Lego handed out scratch n' save cards at the door. Quote

Maltem Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 So i'm not sure what to get my son for christmas. The only think he plays with is star wars lego (Lucky me...;)) He really like to get the new Slave spaceship, so i got that for him. But now there is rumors that the 10188 death star will not stay for 2012. Since i need to get him something more, should this be the set? Or he he better of with another small space ship? I'm not sure that the 10188 is that easy to play with. Suggestions please. It this a set for collectors, or does it work good for kids? Quote

r74 Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 (edited) How old is he? That will help decide Get the Death Star while you can, its already hard to find and the price/value will only increase, I took the plunge and ordered mine from lego a month back when it came back in stock, think they still got some and you get double vip points, free shipping and a free christmas lego set. Also they are offering 10% off if your vip registered. My boy is only 5 so i'll be the one building it Edited November 20, 2011 by r74 Quote
