50missioncap Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Lighthouse is a great set... Can't get into the tower bridge. Passed up the robie for my first train - 3677- going to put it around the tree. Will definitely hit robie after a price drop. Doubt if anything will be as good as falling water... Anyone have any opinions on the new sets? Quote

Anyone have any opinions on the new sets? Man, if Robie goes down, I'll be there! But for $200, there are SO many other sets I'd rather have right now. I was fortunate enough to visit that and Wright's Home & Studio. He was DEFINITELY a visionary! Emeral night or winter post office + some other stuff to a value of ~40€? Or wInter bakery vs winter post office? Having a harf time here :S Emerald Night is a BEAUTIFUL train set, if you're into trains. If trains aren't totally your thing, pass it up and grab a holiday set + some other stuff. Also, remember that last year, Lego stores were marking down the Bakery after the holidays, so they MAY do that again this year. Edited November 21, 2011 by nicoga3000 Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 (edited) Alright everyone, I've taken a look and there's a window in the Lego budget... so I'm trying to decide: Is the 7327 Scorpion Pyramid REALLY WORTH $65usd at Target? I haven't collected much of the line other than the 7307 Flying Mummy Attack, but I do love the figs in this set... Should I take the deal or hold out the money for Series 6 and the City sets? 50missioncap Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I love the holiday sets... Tradition to put them out at christmas. I love the toy shop.. Bakery or post office would be good as well. Quote

Well the raised baseplate is huge and IMHO not of great use for a MOC. There are a lot of slopes, so if you like slopes or build and display - the pyrimid is nice. There are unique minifgiures in this set too. I'd say $65 isn't bad, but if you hold off you will probably find it cheaper at Target next year, unless the resellers beat you to it. I really like the new city sets because of the figures and the brown bear (and the new brick-bricks are actually nice), but of course you'll be paying full price for those for a while yet. By the time Series 6 hit the shelves, you'll not have this bonus money. I notice that when I find extra spending money in the budget, it doesn't last long even if I don't splurge on some fun LEGO. prateek Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 I'd say buy it for $65 now and keep the receipt along with the sealed set. Since Target has a 90 return policy with the receipt, you'd have 90 days to decide if you want to keep it or not, or buy a cheaper one from other sales that might happen. Quote
happymark Posted November 21, 2011 Posted November 21, 2011 Yeah..good idea.. it doesn't work for me though.. normally I would either forget. or.. just hard for me to return any LEGO :) I'd say buy it for $65 now and keep the receipt along with the sealed set. Brickmamba Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 pretty easy choice, the death star if your funds can hold up, not also from a collectible pov but i reckon it is also great to play with all the figs that are included and the compartments of the different scenes, good luck pretty easy choice, the death star if your funds can hold up, not also from a collectible pov but i reckon it is also great to play with all the figs that are included and the compartments of the different scenes, good luck Quote
prateek Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Death Star for sure. I'm sure you'd regret it if you get a ship instead. Quote
UCSProductions1 Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) If the death star is not too expensive for you then it is definitely a set that young children love to play with. I own it and sometimes I let my son play with it as long as he doesn't play too ruff with it. The death star is great for play but is broken pretty easily if your not careful with. K-Nut Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Death Star for sure! I got it recently and it was probably the most enjoyable build I've ever done. Once your done, you get so sick of building you don't want to buy another set for a while! Quote
Werlu Ulcur Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 You guys would suggest the Death Star if his son is only a kid ? I can only wish that my dad hanged around with you guys when I was a kid . Quote
Locutis Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 The Death Star as an awful lot of playability. I was very surprised when my 7 year-old son saved up and built one (he built it all himself). There are at least 5-10 individual play areas in this set. It is like having at least 5 or more Star Wars sets. The price does reflect this, however, it is an awesome set. Locutis Quote
prateek Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 You guys would suggest the Death Star if his son is only a kid ? Seriously? I'm sure the Death Star is sturdier than most Lego ships, and it doesn't have the chance to be swooshed around and be smashed, like all my little cousins did with my ships. Quote
wokajablocka Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Death star all the way. If you dont get it now you will regret it later when its 2 or 3 times the current price. Smaller ships will be easier and cheaper to get at a later stage. Quote
50missioncap Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Any thoughts in that new twin blade police chopper? Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Any thoughts in that new twin blade police chopper? Held the box in my hands today-- I REALLY like this set. the aesthetics, the construction, the pieces. If I had the cash on me today I'd have bought it, certainly... Quote
nicoga3000 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I took a look at the Death Star after everyone was encouraging the above poster to buy it. Which will be around longer, that or the Tower Bridge? Quote

382nd Legionnaire Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I was thinking about getting the Imperial V-Wing fighter, but I'm not so sure if I should get 2 of them for Black Friday. Is there any other good $20 set I should get? Quote
Rocketbilly Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 I was thinking about getting the Imperial V-Wing fighter, but I'm not so sure if I should get 2 of them for Black Friday. Is there any other good $20 set I should get? Personally, I'd go with a pair of the Imperial V Wing Fighters. It's a nice little set, makes a good escort fighter (better as a pair) and it's unlikely LEGO will do a re-make of this - any further V-Wing remakes are likely to be of the more commonly seen Republic variety, I'd imagine. It's a pretty obscure version of the fighter. Quote
nicoga3000 Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Dear lord, I've been browsing Amazon for deals, and it appears as though EVERYONE is price gouging right now. The VW Van is up new for like, $160? There are also a LOAD of Grand Emporium sets going for nearly $200. I don't understand! Quote
Darkdragon Posted November 23, 2011 Posted November 23, 2011 Yeah..good idea.. it doesn't work for me though.. normally I would either forget. or.. just hard for me to return any LEGO :) Target will also price match with the receipt, without having to return anything. (kicking myself for losing receipts to Lego Champion which they have now set to $8.49 vs the $24.95 sale price I paid) Quote
