iElkie Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I'm debating between Mill Village Raid (50 EUR) and the good old 6754 Family Home (found it at a local toy shop for 60 EUR). And in addition to that, I'm also trying to decide which one to get first: Pet Shop or the Volkswagen camper van. Decisions, decisions,... any advise would be so much appreciated! Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 I'm looking to jump at something in the $70-80 range. So... do I go with the Batcave, the Forest Police Station, or the Mill Village Raid, hopefully on clearance???? The Batcave for sure. It's definitely worth the $70, but as I don't own the others, I can't say for what they're like. Quote

Get 6754 first, as it has been discontinued. As a general rule, always get older sets first. Quote

I know I know... but I'm a City guy first-- My Dragon Knights are built up pretty well... so in terms of minifigs there's not that much for me to gain, other than the goats of course... DECISIONS, DECISIONS... Quote

I'd go for the Mill Village Raid, since it's likely to be discontinued soon, while Batcave and Forest Police Station will have a longer run. Quote
Titan Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 7930 Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship or 7931 T-6 Jedi Shuttle Both are of equal desire for me at the moment, just not sure which I'll enjoy more.... Quote

iluvmyelement Posted January 14, 2012 Posted January 14, 2012 Fire Brigade or Medieval Market Village? Which do you think will be gone first? Which will rise more in value? Opinions please.... Quote
LEGOman273 Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 7930 Bounty Hunter Assault Gunship or 7931 T-6 Jedi Shuttle Both are of equal desire for me at the moment, just not sure which I'll enjoy more.... First of all, do you want the set for the parts, or the set itself? The gunship has more rare pieces (dark green), one common minifig made of greebles, and three exclusive minifigs. The shuttle has more common pieces, one VERY common minifig, one semi-common minifig, one minifig that will be out over the summer, and one exclusive minifig. Verdict: Unless you are in love with Shaak Ti, get the gunship. Fire Brigade or Medieval Market Village? Which do you think will be gone first? Which will rise more in value? Opinions please.... I think that the MMV will be gone first. Quote
Vindicare Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 Titan: I'd go with 7930. IMO, the ship is better looking and is just the cooler of the two. As Legoman said, exclusive figs in 7930 outweigh 7931. iluvmyelement: This is a tough choice and two very different sets. I'm leaning towards MMV simply because its one of, if not the best, sets to ever come out of that factory. You really should get both, though. Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted January 16, 2012 Posted January 16, 2012 (edited) So the plot thickens... Just a few days ago I posted a quandary of Mill Village Raid vs. The Batcave vs. Forest Police Station. Of them all, the Police Station would be the priciest, although my only means of getting the Mill now is via TRU which has it marked up $10, but then has a sale for $10 OFF anything over $50. I could wait to see if it hits clearance status, but that's a big if. NOW, I just discovered that my local Target has the Pharaoh's Pyramid set for ONLY $50USD!! Very tempting, despite this set never really being on my radar except for the Anubis figs... although there's so many left I'm seriously wondering if enough might survive that price to drop to 70% OFF status! Can you imagine?? So, my friends, what do I do?? Edited January 16, 2012 by Mr. Elijah Timms Quote

The build is way more interesting in the pyramid than the Mill, plus you get the great Anubis guard figs, a flying mummy, and a vehicle. The MVR has very cute goats and looks ok on display, just not as good as the pyramid and probably with less play value too. At $50, I'd grab a second pyramid if I had the opportunity. Quote
legocanuck Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Hey everyone, I'm looking at getting a modular (either Grand emporium or Pet shop). I'll probably build it and have it up for a bit, but I'm wondering which one do you think would work better for future western mocs. I like the windows and colors that the GE provides, but think the Pet shop may be the way to go because of the brown and light blue, doors, windows, etc. What do you guys think? Thanks! Quote
prateek Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 I'd rather have GE. It's the older one and it looks better. Pet Shop will be around longer, so you will have some more time to save up for it Quote

In regards to western MOCs, the tan color of the GE would be nice, but, I'm not sure about the green windows. For simple off the shelf first purchase would definitely be GE. Overall set would be Pet Shop. 16 wide buildings, unseen in Modulars(technically MS isn't a Modluar). The buildings colors are nice, maybe not so much for western. IF you can swing it, I would certainly get both, eventually. The Modulars are great sets that you won't regret buying after the fact. Quote
mrklaw Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 7965 Millenium Falcon for £104 new, or 8039 Venator attack cruiser for £80 used? I really want the Imperial shuttle, but one of these might scratch my itch for a while. I like the look of both of them, and both look like they'd have useful pieces for future builds. Quote

Get the Venator, as it has been discontinued. The Falcon was released last year, and will be around for a while. Quote
50missioncap Posted January 28, 2012 Posted January 28, 2012 Get the Venator, as it has been discontinued. The Falcon was released last year, and will be around for a while. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the new falcon. Not UCS. But I was able to get it on sale for 100. The build was fun, and you get an original trilogy set (always better than the new sets). I'd go with that one. Closer to scale as well. Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 The funhouse or the batwing? I only have the bat mobile and the catwoman set at the moment. Quote
fyrmedhatt Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 The funhouse or the batwing? I only have the bat mobile and the catwoman set at the moment. Provided I have neither of the sets, so I cannot really comment on the building experience, but I would say the funhouse based on both parts, value and especially the minifigures. It's a set that has so many of the Batman characters, it's really quite a unique value, and the price per parts ratio is also great for a licensed set. Quote
surrideo Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 The funhouse or the batwing? I only have the bat mobile and the catwoman set at the moment. The Funhouse, providing you can find it. You already have black batman, you'll get a joker with the funhouse and all you'll be missing is his henchman. Plus you'll get blue batman with cape I'll pick up the batwing eventually but I'd definitely get the funhouse when you see it as it seems to be rare both sides of the atlantic. As for the build good 2 or 3 play features in the funhouse: trapdoors/swinging hammers/minecart swing/door. Appears to only be flick fires in the batwing set. Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Bluewater has sold out. Of all DC sets apart from the ultrabuilds and the catwoman set. I was very disappointed. Quote
Vindicare Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 The funhouse or the batwing? I only have the bat mobile and the catwoman set at the moment. Even though the Joker henchman in that helicopter has an AWESOME! face, I say go with the Funhouse. 5 great figs and a pretty cool little vehicle. The only bad thing I could say about this set is the lack of a cane for The Riddler. That doesn't take anything away from the set, though. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 Funhouse, more value for money.....Bat's, Robin and three baddies....you can't go wrong. Quote
prateek Posted January 29, 2012 Posted January 29, 2012 I would pick the Funhouse too, but I think it's a good thing it's sold out. I think Lego is trying to fix the terrible quality printing on the figs in that set. Quote
