I love the Grand Emporium and the Town hall, but I don't have enough money to buy both.. at least not now. Both seem to have really good pieces...

Help me out please :classic:

Town Hall just came out, so get GE and you'll have plenty of time to get it later.

It's been more than a year already and I am still thinking about this. If you had to choose between these Winter sets, will you get the bakery or the post office?

Fell in love with the toy shop when I saw it and bought it ASAP. Undecided about the other two, though. Both have their pros and cons parts- and design-wise. The rational and financially responsible side of me wants to go only for one. But sometimes I just feel the need to complete this Winter series! And you all probably know how dangerous being a completist can be. If I really wanted to complete the whole thing, I'd have to have the Winter train also and that's like diving headfirst onto the slippery slope down the depths of destitution and I don't want that to happen.

So -- if you had to choose, which one would it be?

I'm gonna suggest getting both. I know it really wasn't one of the options, but I think they're both worth it. Great sets with great figs. And, the trio looks good together. If you MUST get just one, I'd make it 10216 Winter Village Bakery, since it'll disappear into the bleak despair that is the secondary market. 10222 Winter Post Office should be available for at least this next winter season.

I have about 50 pounds to spend and dont know whether to buy a 44 pound earth defence HQ or shelob attacks for 20.

Someone please help me,

Pythor!

Earth Defense HQ no question about it. I was so pleased with that set. In fact I'm thinking about picking up a 2nd one if I can get it on clearance somewhere. I would love to have 2 of those nifty starfighters that it comes with.

I'm actually looking to buy the GE myself. I was able to sell enough of my current toy collection to get the Fire Brigade, and now I have my sights on the GE. Next will be the Pet Shop, and Town Hall after that. Somewhere in the mix I may save up to get the Haunted House this year.

I'm trying to get a spaceship to go with my Nesquik Rabbit to display it. Any ideas?

I am extremely curious what your Nesquik Rabbit figure looks like. Is it Lego?

Here is my suggestion

Yes, he is real LEGO.

I was thinking of getting the Y-wing possibly, because of the yellowish color scheme and the two engines almost looking like ears. But I'm still not sure. I already have the SB rocket too. :sweet:

Was at a book store and they had the HP Express for 50% off original price ($109). But the box has been opened and taped shut again and there is a little note saying "some parts are missing". Pondering whether or not I should buy this risking $55. Thoughts?

The Earth Defense HQ has been discontinued, so if you see one at a good price, snatch it up. It was one of last years absolute best sets. Far and away the best of the Alien Conquest line, and the best single "space" set in years. It's huge and loaded with features.

Shelob Attacks is a brand new set, and will be around for at least a year. It's a much smaller set. It's a great huge spider nd 3 really good minifigs. Not bad, and a nice set for the price, but I think there is tons more fun, value and overall wow factor in the EDFHQ if you can get it at a good price.

Pythor, let me add my voice to the chorus of Earth Defense supporters. It looks great on the shelf, is fun to play with, and will soon get much harder to find and more expensive. Shelob is definitely a great set, but not in the same category. EDHQ will be one of those legendary sets that people kill innocent Lego collectors for in twenty years' time.

Vittorio, I would get the bakery. I have the Post Office and wish I'd bought the bakery instead, simply because the PO will be around for a lot longer if you eventually do want the entire collection. Plus the bakery is cheaper and an equally nice model.

I have the bakery, and intend to get the Post Office when it's on clearance just after christmas. I'd suggest you get the bakery and do the same. The PO should stick around for another two years, after all. ;J

As far as the completionist thing goes, I've managed to convince myself that the train isn't really a part of the series.

If you're getting it just for the parts, I'd take that risk. If it's for the build, I wouldn't.

Another solution: if the store has unopened versions of the same set, but at the full price, bring a kitchen scale to weigh and compare the sets to figure out the percentage of parts missing. =)

Hi guys. I have an £20 budget. (Shallow, I know) and i'm wondering which set to purchase off Amazon

I saw 7067 Jet-Copter Ecounter for £19.99 but i'm not too sure.

So are there any other nice sets for £20 or under on Amazon you guys recommend?

I would say get the Post Office. I found mine on a nice 20% discount, so it made the overall cost worthwhile. At full price I was a bit disappointed. I built the Bakery after the Toy Shop and felt it had too few pieces. It does look really nice when completed, but it seemed to be a really simple build. The Post Office looks beautiful, but the price tag isn't appealing. The mail truck looks like a nice vintage model and I like the rounded front window. It isn't how I would have built it, but it gets the shape just right. When it comes down to timing, the Bakery should be first if you are a completist. If you aren't, I say get the Post Office.

And after reading everyone's remarks about this Earth Defense HQ, I almost want to get one, even though I have no interest in that theme or even know what that set looks like!

I'm torn between the pharao quest pyramid (7327) and the ucs Starfighter (10215). They are both 40 euro. The starfighter good for display but the pyramid has (I think) better parts. I'm not really a moc'er but I love good parts, minifigures and display sets. What set should I buy?

I ended up buying the Y-Wing. But now I need a set for my Series 7 Bunny Suit Guy. Possibly the Friends Tree House along with the Nesquik, or a completely different set?

I have my Bunny Suit Guy selling Ice Cream to children outside the Grand Emporium. It somehow makes for a much creepier scene then you would think?

I personally see the Pyramid as more of a play set, with all of its features, so for display value I'd go for the Starfighter (I don't even know what startfighter is the USC one, but I think starfighters generally make for good display sets, and I know USC are the big ones). If you want MOCing resources, though, I'd take the pyramid instead. =)

EDIT: Oh, it's the Obi-Wan one, isn't it? I'd choose that over the pyramid. =)

Thank you. Ordered the Starfighter. Unfortunately it's out of stock and will be send july the 30th. I hope this is true and I'm not too late.

So I plan to head to the LEGO Store sometime this week, or buy off the website, and was wondering which of these sets y'all would recommend.

PotC Queen Anne's Revenge

PotC The Black Pearl

SW Y-Wing

Plan to buy only one for now.

For a gift for my little sister, I may get her a Friends set if I have the money. Which $10 set is the best? Or, if I have the money $20-30 set is the best?

If you can afford one of the bigger sets, the Cafe and the Beauty Shop are incredible in the $25-30 range. If you are limited to $10, I'd consider what interests your sister. If she likes music, Andrea's Stage is great. If she likes science and technology, Olivia's Invention Workshop is great. If she likes Fashion, Emma's Fashion Design Studio is great... really they are all great, but it depends on what your sister likes the most.

The $6 sets aren't as interesting from a build/parts perspective, but another option might be to buy two of those to have two Friends for her to play with. You don't mention her age, so I'm assuming she is young enough she'll want to play with the sets.

I'd go with 4184 Black Pearl. Has 3 great exclusive figs, one being the awesome Davy Jones. Iconic ship, can't speak on the build because mine is still in it's box.
