Spider-Man Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Hey guys quick question! Which set would be a good one to buy, in the price range of $25 to $40 US dollars that will give me a lot of black and white pieces? I want to get a lot of useful pieces to MOC with and want to find a good value set for black and white pieces. Thanks for any help Quote

Among many other things keep an eye out for the Star Wars T 6 Jedi Shuttle on clearence. I think I just saw in in target for $41. It has a ton of white, including. Lot of useful slopes and such. Black will be a bit trickier depending on what you need and how much. A lot of sets have black, just not many sets have a lot of black. Well besides the Black Pearl. In your price range, maybe some of the Batman sets? A few of the Atlantis sets such as Gateway of the Squid also had a good amount of black, if you can find them on clearance. Quote

Thanks for any help To add to what Faefrost said (in general and about that Jedi Shuttle), take a look at BrickLink to find sets for sale without minifigures. Many people will sell a set as "new, but without minifigures or accessories" for significant discounts. The Jedi Shuttle, for example, is being sold for $29.99 with no figures or box. This can be a good, cheap way to acquire parts. Quote
Zergos Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Should I get the ultimate spiderman set,( Cause I like Iron Fist and Spiderman) or the Wolverine Chopper Showdown? I will most likely get both of them eventually, but I was just wondering which one to get first. Quote
Vindicare Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Hey guys, when I paid on Friday, I have decided to invest to £50 on a new LEGO set ever since 2008. I'm getting back into it and I want a set with a lot of pieces and a fun build. It can be from any theme at all. I'll be ordering from Amazon or LEGO. Any ideas guys? 9525 Pre Vizslas Mandalorian Fighter is a great set. Cool fig in Vizsla. The ship has a great color combo and is a good looking ship with major a swoosh factor. Quote
Spider-Man Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) Thanks jFox and Faefrost! I will take a look over at bricklink to see if I can get some of those sets without the minifigs And to Zergos: You can't miss on either. They are both great sets with great figs so it is just wether or not you want to spend $30 or $20. Personally I say Spidey first Edited July 24, 2012 by Spider-Man Quote
nicoga3000 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 Between Diagon Alley and Grand Emporium, which has a longer life span left? I finally picked up Fire Brigade since that's nearing it's end. I was going to get the new 4x4 Crawler, but I've got ~2 years on that one, still. ;) Quote

I was going to get the new 4x4 Crawler, but I've got ~2 years on that one, still. ;) I would wager that Diagon Alley will go away before Grand Emporium. I still saw Grand Emporium on the latest Lego catalog I got in the mail, while all the Harry Potter stuff was not in the catalog. Quote

The Grand Emporium should have at least another year left as the fire brigade came out a year before it and that's still in stores. Quote
nicoga3000 Posted July 24, 2012 Posted July 24, 2012 OK, that pretty much seals that deal. Thanks! I don't really like the theme, but the parts in Diagon Alley are wonderful for MOC's. :) Quote

MannyLego Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Which set would be a better buy, 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep or 10223 Kingdoms Joust? There both nice sets but i can only afford one of the two. Quote
Multiverse Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Which set would be a better buy, 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep or 10223 Kingdoms Joust? There both nice sets but i can only afford one of the two. If both are at full price, I'd go for the Kingdoms Joust at any time, since it has more parts, better figures (in my opinion, since I'm quite partial to those lovely classic-ish-but-with-the-modern-level-of-detail castle figures) and is a brilliant display set. Though I guess it really depends on whether you're more of a fan of LotR or classic Lego Castle. I'm into Lego Castle, and have been so since before I even read or watched anything by Tolkien, so I'd go for 10223. So I'm not really suggesting a set you should buy, but rather a criteria by which you might want to decide between them. Quote

Wow, that's a tough one. IMO, Kingdoms Joust is more classic and perhaps you would enjoy that set many years into the future. To be honest I think the Joust set is more aesthetically pleasing, has more pieces, is a bit cheaper, and has 1 more minifigure compared to Helm's Deep. If you say that you already have some of the Kingdoms sets and none of the LOTR sets yet then I would say that it would be great to get the Kingdoms Joust to compliment your collection. Quote

I think that Helm's Deep is the better set of the two with much better play features and acessories. But if you want both, I'd say buy the Joust now - and then wait for a sale before buying Helm's Deep, at a later time. Quote
Lightning Dragon Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) Hello everyone, a friend just offered to sell me the Skull's Eye Schooner for about $380. Should I buy that, or another Imperial flagship for $280? I'm getting the Schooner Edited July 25, 2012 by Lightning Dragon Quote

lightningtiger Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Should I get the POTC Black Pearl or the HP Hogwarts(the big 2010 one)? I am torn . Go Hogwarts first and then the BP....though my son loves both of them, I say HP will be more popular than POTC...sadly ! Quote
Vindicare Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Should I get the new zombies set or the ghost train. price does not matter. I'd go with 9465 Zombies. I like the car better than the plane. I think it'll be the more sought after set, not just because it's an exclusive. Which set would be a better buy, 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep or 10223 Kingdoms Joust? There both nice sets but i can only afford one of the two. This is a very tough choice. I built 9474 last night and wow, what a cool model this is. This thing IS huge! If you're a fan of LotR, then definitely get this(first). Otherwise, I'd go with 10223. A big draw of that set is the addition of a second set to really fill it out. But, on it's own it's a great looking shelf piece. A big bonus is the return, albeit small, return of the Black Falcon(unfortunately, it's just his shield...). My vote is 10223 in the end. Should I get the POTC Black Pearl or the HP Hogwarts(the big 2010 one)? I am torn . If you like both franchises equally, I'd go with 4842 Hogwarts. HP trumps PotC. The castle is a great set with cool figs. Tough choices here people! Quote
