It would work for any sailor/pirate I think, afteral beanies were very common sailor wear in the period. They didnt wear Cocked hats or bandanas as were let to believe.

I'd have to look it up, but I can imagine you're right. After all, most if not all of the pirate sets were in a Caribean setting, and the typical European 17th century sailor had gear for colder weather.

After a brief research i found that the Monmouth cap was used by sailors and soldiers from the 15th century on and it looks like a beanie enough for me to settle the case and use the Lego piece FkWhQPE.png(yes, i edited one of the existing smilies into a Monmouth cap wearing sailor to celebrate the cap. To bad the png upload does not work and there is a ugly white background.)

For a little variety, the beanie-and-hair combo is also available in red-and-blond (6490731).

Yeah, I saw. The question now is if those woolen beanies were coloured back in the 17-18hundreds.

(Sorry @Yperio_Bricks, now you have to edit the smilie again ... ;-))

Maybe i will do it, maybe not... :pir_laugh2:

I didn't know this piece already existed in red and blond colors. Maybe interesting for the recoats.

Probably only easy to dye earth tones for the plebs. But it would not have been impossible to dye it red or blue.

Besides that, brightly colored fabrics are such a common thing in the Pirates theme that a brightly colored wool cap ought to fit in just fine aesthetically whether or not it's realistic. After all, real-life tall ship sails would pretty much never have colorful stripes like those on sets like the Black Seas Barracuda, Caribbean Clipper, Skull's Eye Schooner, etc. Pirate captains wouldn't generally have the eyepatch+hook+peg leg trifecta, let alone a skull-and-crossbones patterned hat. But iconography like that is familiar enough from pop culture that we tend to accept it as a natural part of the pirate genre and setting in fiction, even if we might question it in real life.

Yeah, I think that if you're going with the "classic pirates" look that features bright red striped shirts and bandanas, a bright red wool hat certainly isn't too much of a stretch.

Yeah, nice to see another color there. If my eyes don't deceive me, two of the shortest length on the tail end, and one long one over the front and underneath the 'fuselage' of the craft?

It looks like at least the textile wings and perhaps the tail textile are useful for a historic/East-Asian setting too (dragon wings and junk sails).

Do you know if Da Vinci's torso-and-legs are unique for this set, or come from one of the Harry Potter sets?

I read that the prints for legs and torso are new! But i have not seen the torso without the beard yet, so i have no idea how it looks like. I wonder what that long tan thing is that he is wearing? Must be this fur collar thing?

Rumours for 2025 include a single Pirates of the Caribbean set under the icons theme (presumably the Black Pearl) as well as an entire wave based off the Netflix adaption of the One Piece anime/manga. Set numbers for the latter are 75636 through 75640 with 75639 being over 1.300 pieces and 75640 being 18+ and over 3.400 pieces. Those might well be a ship and/or a significant location (i.e. port). I'm not sure how much use the minifigs will be for a more traditional pirates setting unless you really like straw hats (though Usopp's outfits from the show, Luffy's, and even some parts of Zoro's might work), but there should hopefully be some good stuff here.

One piece pieces just leaked on reddit. One is a very useful hair/bandana combo. Was trying to think of a crewmember that it could fit on the BP but came up short. Maybe one of Jones's crew members? Or a random pirate? What are we all thinking.

Saw them. Interesting pirate stuff. It's always good to have some new types of headwear available. Curious about what the final sets will look like.

I am delighted to see that there will be a new bandana piece, new varities are always welcome! :pir-thumb: I think that the dark red torso also could be useful, perhaps for some POTC pirates?

Both colour variants of the bandana look interesting, looking forward to see them on a minifig!

I've also seen a post that suggests this new leaf piece could be introduced, would be AMAZING:

True! Seems to be a redesign of the 1x1 round "bamboo leaf" brick, but would probably be a more solid plastic that would hopefully make it less fragile than its predecessor.

By the way, the new Trevi Fountain set seems to use the "hobby horse" head from the CMFs in unprinted white, which could probably make for some interesting carved ornamentation on a ship.
