I actually have some high hopes for the Endurance being a fun ship build, even though it's not Pirates. Looking forward to the official reveal, but I have a feeling I may end up getting this one.

Did we have an inkling this ship was coming?  I need it!  I don't care that it isn't really Pirate themed, it's a beautiful vessel based on the pictures I've seen.

With these sailing ships on shelves, there will be no chance of a pirate ship showing up next year, right?

Nah,  pirate ship is totally not ruled out. With Star Wars on shelves, we have bunch of Space sets. With Hogwarts castle on shelves, we have bunch of castles and medival town sets.

As for Modular Building, it’s a different story.  When designers were planning a newspaper building, they realized there was another 18+ set - Daily Bugle from Marvel still on shelves that time, they put that idea on hold for a while.

To me Hogwarts is very much different from the medieval castle sets. The characters and stories from the books/movies play a major role while the Hogwarts castle itself is not really comparable to a medieval castle. But maybe that's just my impression.

But i get the point with Star Wars and Space  So there's still hope for a pirate ship next to the other two sailing ships!

This is almost certainly the wrong place for this discussion, but I’m currently parting out the imperial flagship and have all the parts and figs, for very cheap, aside from 6 damn pieces.

6168c01 in reddish brown.

Does anyone have a solution to brick building a replacement part?

You're way over thinking it. Skip the square bottom,2x2 round all the way up, plates if you need an exact height, and you can toss some 75937 or 98284 if you want to add some character or places to clip other bits to like lanterns, flags, monkey, etc.

Ah I resorted to this but I’m still not happy with the replacement.

Their is no square reddish brown 2x2 with a hole so it looses a little of the design aesthetic.

As the title of this topic is "Useful pirate pieces from other themes"... I realy realy like the treasure map from "Lego Friends - Dolphin rescue mission" (41378).

It's easy to roll and put in classic minifig hands and it can be hidden in a treasure chest.

Even if I like the classic 2x2 tiles, I like the way this tissue map looks on Pirate dioramas.

6232, using 32530 to cover the pin is also an option

I wouldn't be surprised if the minifig prize machine also includes some sort of pirate. It's something that's hard to have a vote on the space suit colours or faction heraldry but I think a pirate of some sort is a likely inclusion, even if it's just one made of reused parts.

The Ideas submission had a Captain Redbeard so I expect there should be a Pirate included.  It had 9 prize pods with mostly generic City folk including a Policeman.

I wonder if LEGO is planning to include a new pirate Minifig (rather than just reused parts), but as you said, it is more difficult to vote on the design. I would like to see an Ironhook update, as well as a redcoat (very easy to make, as the current bluecoat design can be printed onto a red torso without any changes).

Space suit color = many options to vote

heraldry = few options to vote

So, I feel that pirates’ designs could e more difficult to vote for sure. Ohh Ironhook would be neat!!

I ordered that torso last week off PAB, and it came in today.  I'm still waiting on the standard parts from my order to come in with the head I want for it along with some other hair pieces I may use.

I went with orange pants, since I had an extra pair lying around.  I think it fits in really well.

Uhhh so jealous! I’m planning on doing this eventually as well. Where were you able to get the hull and sails for cheap? As for the masts I would use a bunch of 2x2 round bricks

I ended up just using 2x2 rounds. I did it for really cheap. One bricklink seller in aus had all the sails in new condition for cheap and they were in fantastic condition.
I had dark brown hull pieces from an moc and surprisingly had a lot of the parts I needed. I upgraded a lot of the parts, like the arches, I used modern ones, etc.

the 2 hardest parts to get were the dark blue feather ornaments, and the dark brown slopes and the previously discussed reddish brown poles which seems like everyone for sale online seems damaged so I’m not too upset about not forking out $100au for those.

Very nice! I've thought about parting it out for awhile now but other sets have gotten in the way...even though it is my dream set(((( I''ve ended up just combining two 31120 into a half decent ship, just a bit smaller than the barracuda but I need part out the flagship eventually. Were you against color swapping? I wouldnt mind going for red feathers or something opposed to the blue ones for example)))

Not at all!

Just because I have some purist inclinations doesn’t mean I don’t like a bit of change. I updated part types to more modern versions of the same parts too.

The new 21350 JAWS set comes with a new long string piece with a ball on one end that fits into a ball joint thingy (don't know how it is called).

The other end of the string seems to be loose and is tied to a DOTS piece that will be newly available in black.

Such a long string might come in handy for a sailing ship! :pir-triumph:

The shark in itself isn't a part but can be a good assembly for a pirate display
