SNIPE Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Hi, What do you consider to be the most frequently used color for official lego parts of all themes, I am going to say 'black' (anything such as rubber black, shiny black,PC black, etc as long as it is generally black colored. but not trans black) but its hard to get an idea of this from bricklink What would you say is the most common color. Reason I ask is because when making MOCS it might be better to make something in a certain color since there is most parts for this color so more detail can be achieved. Quote
Fugazi Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 According to Bricklink, the colour in which the most parts were made is actually white! (6657 unique white parts in the Bricklink database versus 5168 in black* and 4183 in red) *This figure does include parts made of black rubber. Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Yeah, I would have guessed white also, but thought yellow or red behind. Looking at my boxed collection yellow's and red's dominate Quote
Bighappysmiles Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 I would have to say either gray, both the lighter and bley, or black. Perhaps the gray is just because I build and buy a lot of space stuff and a lot of that is gray. If you're counting the technic stuff, black for sure because all those little pins Quote
Drachmyre Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 Yeah.. I'd say there is a difference in most unique uses, and most total pieces produced. The later might be hard to get concrete info on. Quote
davee123 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 According to Bricklink inventories (actually, a copy a few months old), the winner is black-- white may have the most number of different elements, but black is more numerous. Counting inventories of sets and gear, if you owned one of each, you'd have: Black - 364,280 White - 211,703 Red - 175,158 Light Bluish Gray - 132,060 Yellow - 131,961 Light Gray - 113,034 Blue - 111,454 Dark Bluish Gray - 100,453 DaveE Quote
SNIPE Posted May 16, 2013 Author Posted May 16, 2013 how about excluding tires wheels and parts with stickers and decals, and gear also excluded is glariator, primo, duplo, znap, lego die cast models, etc Quote
davee123 Posted May 16, 2013 Posted May 16, 2013 how about excluding tires wheels and parts with stickers and decals, and gear also excluded is glariator, primo, duplo, znap, lego die cast models, etc It's way too difficult (for me anyway) to exclude things like that, since things on BrickLink aren't always consistently named and categorized. You'd have to be REALLY specific about EVERYTHING you want to include or exclude, and that's pretty involved! DaveE Quote
___ Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 well, just yesterday I thought about something similiar, as being builder of my own SPACE Classic theme sets wanting to achieve design and color resemblance of those I sorted it like this: 1. period: BLUE-GREY-TRANS.YELLOW 2. period: WHITE-BLUE-TRANS.BLUE 3. period: GREY-BLACK-TRANS.GREEN 4. period: BLACK-YELLOW-TRANS.YELLOW Quote
Erik Leppen Posted June 7, 2013 Posted June 7, 2013 how about excluding tires wheels and parts with stickers and decals Won't change much. There are no sets with 100s of wheels. Things would probably change if you would leave out the "Technic Pin with friction". Quote
