For a bit over a week we've been throwing around ideas for the name of the new Pirate LEGO Portal Website in the The Pirate LEGO Portal needs an AWESOME Domain Name thread. So read that if you're not familiar with what's been going on.

I've narrowed it down to 5 choices so now you get the opportunity to vote on which domain name you think would be best suited for the Pirate LEGO Portal.

Also tell us what you voted and your reasons behind it.

Just remember there is no 100% guarantee that the domain with the most votes will become the domain for the Portal website. We're just looking for an idea of what users think is best name, but there may be technical reasons why that name can't be used. We may have to resort to the domain with the second highest vote.

Let the voting begin!

Mr Norrington, obviously they have to sound cliched because cliches are easy to remember and recognise. We don't want something that is so original and unique it can't be recognised as a Pirate LEGO website.

The average AFOL has to be able to look at the domain name and instantly recognise it as a Pirate LEGO website. The Pirate LEGO Portal needs an AWESOME Domain Name thread has been around for about a week and you didn't make one suggestion for name, so its a bit late now to be saying I need to add all new choices because its not going to happen. I'm only going to add a new choice if its really really good.

Users have till the end of the week to cast their vote.

I voted for Piratebricks.com as it's simple, easy to remember, and does the job. Next I would've picked "System-Pirates.com" except that name just didn't do it for me for some reason.

I voted for classic-pirate.com because it follows a logical AFOL system of theme related websites. I'm very sure m,any people that just discovered the AFOL community will try to type www.classic-pirate(s).com into their browser after discovering classic-space and classic-castle...

Though I would go with an "S" at the end of the website since the theme is "Pirates" and not "Pirate"!

I totally agree. The theme is pirateS so www.classic-pirateS.com seems a bit more logical to me...

I haven't voted yet though.

most newbies would never think of classic pirates because classic basically refers to Lego in the early 80's, like space and castle. Pirates has nothing to do with that... besides, you'd have to be familiar with the current websites community to figure out "classic" is a refernce to lego at all; same with "afol"

system-pirates doesn't make any sense to me. lego fans never use "system"

the last is farfetched and refer too much to the pirate films

If you'd like to see www.classic-pirateS.com then vote for www.classic-pirate.com and we'll work out the detail of "S" later.

I voted for piratebricks.com.

It matches well with Eurobricks and it sounds good.

My second choice would be Classic-Pirate.com.

OK, why are you reading my mind and posting exactly what I wanted to say! :)

Classic-Pirate.com . I think it goes well with the lego theme, other lego websites have this sort of thing, classic-space, classic-castle...so, I'd assume that AFOLs would see that this is a Lego website.

You know, I feel like a dunce for not having realized that "piratebricks" would compliment the "eurobricks" name scheme perfectly. Nevertheless I must side with "classic-pirates" as the domain name, because it's always been a dream of mine to have a pirate site using "classic" in its domain name. (Silly, I know :-P) If "classic-pirates" loses to "piratebricks", I'll have no gripes, though. :)

My thoughts exactly (whole post :-D )...

PirateBricks.com has a huge lead at the moment! However its status is still unresolved because if you visit www.piratebricks.com it says at the top of the page:

"Notice: This domain name expired on 02/10/07 and is pending renewal or deletion"

So if anybody knows how long until this renewal period expires then let me know because I won't be able to register the domain till after that happens.

As I posted in the other thread:

Looking at the WHOIS information I see the registration expired on Saturday (10 February, 2007) so after the 30-day waiting period (12 March, 2007) it should be available to register. The site has been dead for a long time so I would think it won't be renewed.

I suggest registering piratebricks.org right now, today and trying to add piratebricks.com next month.

30 days is the minimum time but you should be able to try to register on 12 March (if that is the choice.)
