DuckBricks Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Way too much slapstick in this episode for my taste. Agreed. The Imperials posed almost no threat. I was worried for a second when they were discovered, but apparently "all ships" meant four TIE fighters... Really? Quote
Nom Carver Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Thats proves that not all of the crappy stuff from the clone wars came only from George Lucas, Dave Filoni also had his share of guilt, but this is a kids tv show, expect a lot more in the future. Quote
Mr Man Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 Lando's awsome, I really hope we see more of him in the show, it really made sitting through the rest of the episode less of a drag. Quote
Artanis I Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Right, I'm caught up, didn't realise it was back on. Wow, Frank Oz voiced Yoda in episode 9, I didn't even notice the difference. (Is that bad?) Turns out Lando really is a scoundrel, haha. I really miss R2 & C3PO. And Darth Vader, where the heck is he... Okay so while I'm at it, also Obi-Wan & Palpatine, I miss them too. Quote
Tariq j Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Overall, I thought it was a fairly good episode, I really hope we see more of Lando. Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted January 15, 2015 Posted January 15, 2015 Wow, looks like I'm the only one that really loved it! Seeing Lando again was just great.....they even played his Cloud City theme from ESB! The baddie (based on this Jabba concept art) looked perfect......he would make an awesome minifig. His helpers looked great too. The designs in this episode were good as always, and had a huge bonus in the form of the characters I just mentioned. Regarding the story: It's aimed at kids! The shows I loved as a kid (Masters of the Universe, M.A.S.K., etc) also had slappstick moments sometimes.....as a McQuarrie fan I'm still very happy with this show. Quote
Kintobor Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I thought Idiot's Array was good. I can understand where people are coming from, but at the same time I can forgive the writer of the episode for having a little bit of slapstick and padding. The ending wasn't that great, but the first half of the episode was solid. Lando was a lot of fun and I hope we see more of him as the series progresses, even for more one shot episodes. I also found the negotiation's with the thugs was pretty fun and surprisingly dark for what Rebels generally tries to target for an audience. That scene makes way more sense if you know that Twilek female's are often sold as slaves due to their beauty, something I doubt kids would get. There was also some surprisingly good lighting this episode. Not my favourite episode, but it was still good. Path of the Jedi, though, was amazing, with a capital a. Path was stellar, in every meaning of the word. It had top notch writing, all around excellent animation, and some unnerving imagery. It wasn't anything too graphic, but the episode was violent enough and scary enough to make Ezra's journey into his fears both griping and entertaining. I love it when writers understand that kids can handle scary situations and death. Kids are intelligent, and they want to be challenged. Star Wars Rebels is going in an incredible direction, and I seriously cannot wait to see what the writers have in store for the season finale. Quote
Darth Lurtz Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 The most recent episode, Call to Action may be the best episode yet! The return of a certain Governor put a lot of things in perspective. It also shows that the creators are willing to reference this show's predecessor. Quote
Daimar Posted February 6, 2015 Posted February 6, 2015 I must say, that I like this series. It is not the best cartoon in the world but its prety similar to the saturday morning cartoons, that I grew up with and that makes it worth watching, for me. I read that this season will only have 16 episodes (including the movies and the shorts) which means that "rebel resolve" could be the final episode. The only thing I hope is that they dont end this season with a cliffhanger, I really hate that. Just finish the storyarc for this season and make another storyarc for the next. My prediction for the next season is, that the crew of the ghost will leave Lothal to flee from the empire and wander through the galaxy (far, far away ). They will face some bountyhunters (maybe Boba, Bossk, Aura Sing, Cad Bane...), meet pirates (the return of Hondo, from the Clone Wars, has been confirmed) maybe even help them or vice versa, Ezra will become more powerfull and the rebellion will start to grow in numbers... anyhow, lets see what the future brings. simonjedi Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I loved the latest episode. Tarkin shows up and gets shit done. Quote
DuckBricks Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 I loved the latest episode. Tarkin shows up and gets shit done. Yeah, the Imperials weren't very successful until he came along... Quote
Mr Man Posted February 7, 2015 Posted February 7, 2015 Wow, an episode of Rebels where the Empire is competent, imaging if all Imperials were as good as Tarkin. Odd use of the Clone Wars era police gunships though. I do hope series 2 takes us off that one planet though, maybe a DBZ is in order hmm, get on it Tarkin. Quote

Nom Carver Posted February 9, 2015 Posted February 9, 2015 If all of the incompetent imperials were killed, the empire would find itself quite reduced. Quote
Faefrost Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 If all of the incompetent imperials were killed, the empire would find itself quite reduced. Isn't one of the first rules of a tyrannical dictatorship to get rid of the competent people? Keep the brutal loyal people, but damn you don't want anybody competent or intelligent sitting below you on the promotion ladder. Quote

Keep the brutal loyal people, but damn you don't want anybody competent or intelligent sitting below you on the promotion ladder. Almost. Get rid of any potential competition. Like those crime movies, when someone becomes too powerful or popular they "disappear", no matter how long or hard they were working for you. Quote
AudiBobaR5-D2 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I'm starting to like Rebels a bit more now, the more I look at the clips from behind the scenes. I still prefer TCW more though than Rebels, but perhaps its maybe getting used to this new era of Star Wars. Like some have mentioned on here, its not the best cartoon as such, but no where near the worst, and the sets that are linked to the series are starting to grow on me more. Quote
Darth Punk Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I loved the latest episode. Tarkin shows up and gets shit done. Indeed, made a huge improvement to the show. Quote
Starrocks923 Posted February 10, 2015 Posted February 10, 2015 I loved the latest episode. Tarkin shows up and gets shit done. I think that accurately describes what the Inquisitor was supposed to be... Quote
montgocloud Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 OK, so Call to Action is a great episode. Probably my favorite of the whole series. I had assumed that the reason the Inquisitor and Kallus were incompetent was because this is a cartoon aimed at kids, and suspension of disbelief has to be a bit higher than in film. But the episode shows that the two are incompetent within the context of the universe as well. Tarkin arrives and is just as menacing as you remember being him in Star Wars. The episode also plays into my theory that Ahsoka is Fulcrom. Think about it: from a storytelling standpoint, Fulcrom has to be 1) a recognizable, well known character and 2) not a predictable Rebel from the OT. The writers wouldn't draw out this mystery otherwise. And, by introducing Tarkin, it also introduces an adversary from Ahsoka's past. Young Tarkin sets in motion the events that lead to her leaving the Jedi Order. A face-off between Ahsoka and Tarkin would have an emotional connection. The only thing that kind of disproves this theory is that in Rebel Resolve, the newest episode, Fulcrom is seen from behind and a man's voice is clearly heard. Why would Ahsoka disguise her voice to Hera if she doesn't disguise her appearance as well? Oh well, I'm sure we'll see soon enough. Quote

Why would Ahsoka disguise her voice to Hera if she doesn't disguise her appearance as well? Oh well, I'm sure we'll see soon enough. Wow, I feel like I watched something completely different. It didn't sound like a man's voice to me - it was a modulated and disguised voice, which could be a man's, but had tones that sound a bit more like a woman to me. Fulcrum is also wearing a cloak Palpatine style, so even from Hera's view Fulcrum might be unidentifiable or at least cast in shadow. The way I saw it, Fulcrum wasn't only being hidden from the audience, but from Hera as well.I must say, Rebel Resolve was absolutely wonderful. I was sad to see Clone Wars go, but Rebels has been so consistent thus far, I'm really looking forward to seeing where it goes. I don't think it will last nearly as long as Clone Wars did, but it seems like things are really going to change for next season, so we could get a solid three seasons with basically three arcs. Season one was the Rebels being low-key on Lothal, two could be them kicking it into a higher gear elsewhere, and then we'll have to see what happens from there. Quote
Nom Carver Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 It's Bail Organa or Mon Mothma, thats it, or some pretty obscure character from the original trilogy, no need to be looking at Ahsoka anymore, wait, maybe he is Jar Jar Binks! . Quote

Mr Man Posted February 18, 2015 Posted February 18, 2015 Well if only the rest of the series had been as enjoyable as the last couple of episodes, it's a shame it needed Tarkin to kick it up a notch, that should have really happened with the introduction of the Inquisitor, I hope series 2 builds on the last few episodes, in therms of tone, a lot more.
