Jedi-Bendu Posted April 3, 2016 Posted April 3, 2016 (edited) I also think that while ambiguous it's pretty clear Ahsoka died or is fatally wounded. When she was limping down the tunnel, she appeared to fall just prior to disappearing into the dark. Combined with the fact that Filoni has said she's never coming back, she might as well be. If there was only one drawback to the whole episode which i've been seeing bits and pieces of online, it was that they made it ambiguous. I think the only reason that didn't outright was marketing reasons, she's a popular character who Disney (not Filoni and crew) may wish to continue merchandise. Han Solo is even more popular. Yet he died in a very clear way....and Solo merchandise is still continuing. Edited April 3, 2016 by Jedi-Bendu Quote
Forresto Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I don't have cable but I've been able to watch every rebels episode on kisscartoon.com. If you want to see the rest of the episode they have it. Thank you so much! Han Solo is even more popular. Yet he died in a very clear way....and Solo merchandise is still continuing. Fair point. I would tend to agree with that as well, especially since they've said they're not bringing her back. Unless theres some plan to include her in a live action movie I don't know why they didn't make her fate clear cut. I guess the biggest difference here is he is one of those characters who is so big even killing them off doesn't stop the fanbase. The character has been engrained in pop culture since the first movie. While Ashoka certainly has a big fanbase, I love the character, she doesn't have it to the same level as the other I think and because of that maybe they were worried about taking the risk of making her fans lose interest? Agent Kallus Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 I read somewhere that season 3 is the last season of rebels is this true or is it bs or just an unconfirmed rumor? Quote
Captain Nemo Posted April 4, 2016 Posted April 4, 2016 That's an unconfirmed rumor--I think that sprouted from the fact at Filoni noted they already know the 'full story' of where it's headed, and then the media assumption that Rebels was made just to lead into Rogue One. Personally, I think it's unlikely that it would end on its third season, considering its popularity and new story potentials following the season two finale. Quote
rollermonkey Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 There is one problem with going too long with Rebels, though: with Rogue One being a prequel to IV and Rebels set firmly after III, there is a rapidly narrowing window where if the crew of the Ghost isn't killed off, then none of them being around in Rogue One starts to get weird, especially now that Hera is a ranking officer in the Rebellion. Quote
Tariq j Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 True, although as Rogue One is centered around a group of Rebels stealing the plans. It could be assumed the Ghost Crew are simply with the rest of the Rebel fleet or off doing there own mission. But then it's also possible, like you said, some of them may get killed off. I thought the practice duel between Ezra and Kanan was quite interesting and possibly a foreshadowing of the future of the characters. I'm thinking that with Maul being back Ezra will be slowly tempted by the Dark side and Kanan begins to lose control over him leading to an Anakin V Obi Wan like fight. Quote
PenPlays Posted April 5, 2016 Posted April 5, 2016 Keep in mind that the Ghost Crew/Sato and crew are not the only group going against the Empire. It's been implied that there are other groups out there and that, potentially, some will band together to form one larger Rebellion. Whether or not we see the Ghost Crew, or any relevant Rebels character, in Rogue One doesn't matter, as they can very well be active at a different Rebel location or on an off-world activity. Besides, it isn't like the movies have shown off every single Rebel all at once in the Original Trilogy. Quote

Besides, it isn't like the movies have shown off every single Rebel all at once in the Original Trilogy. That still leaves it as a looming problem in that it may be difficult to extend this time line into the events of EP6. Yoda states quite clearly there that once he is gone Luke will be the last remaining Jedi. If this to be kept consistent then the window of activity for the Jedi (and possibly force wielders) presented in Rebels can only ever extend up to that point or a bit before it. If we pick at details further, the window of time between EP5 and 6 is very short and Vader likely hunting for his son during this time it is probably reasonable to say the stage occupied by the rebels crew did not reach as far as EP5 either. I would grant room for it extending into EP4 since it is implied the rebellion has been reaping nothing but defeats until DS1 is destroyed by Luke. After that and given the nature of the Rebel force described in the title crawl of EP5 I would wager no one of note from rebels survived the events leading up to the Battle of Hoth. I hope their continuity manager takes this into account as well. Quote

No, but as the opening crawl for ANH states that the Rebels strike from a single hidden base, it stands to reason that the group is not all that large. Quote

Actually the opening crawl for episode 4 states: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire", so at least one victory before DS1 gets blown up! rollermonkey Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 Pretty sure that first victory is what we're going to see this December in Rogue One. Quote
Forresto Posted April 9, 2016 Posted April 9, 2016 (edited) Pretty sure that first victory is what we're going to see this December in Rogue One. But what kind of victory is the biggest question? I imagine it's more of a phyrric victory, with the real victory being the destruction of the Death Star. Considering Vader is hot on the Tantive IV's tail at the beginning of ANH and the Rogue One team are not present on Yavin IV by the end of the movie I don't think many make it out or they aren't apart of the Alliance. If the latter is true i'm a little nervous as I can't see any military organization, especially a rebel group, undergoing an extraordinarily high risk mission with people not formally apart of their organization. One or two of them could be outsiders sure, but considering they will know the location of the rebel's SECRET base I doubt they would let many more then that. Obviously this is all really early speculation based on a minute of loosely connected footage so don't get too annoyed if you disagree with me Edited April 9, 2016 by Forresto Quote

I completely forgot about that line! Yeah your right. Well it does make one wonder doesn't it. He doesn't say it as angry or upset then in other times there were big screwups so it's possible the rebel's victory is seen less as a legitimate big win and more of an annoyance. I don't know and this is what is hyping me up for the movie This weekend I interviewed Vanessa -Hera- Marshall about her role in Rebels...including what she knows about season 3! https://www.starwars...-hera-syndulla/ Sweet! But he wasn't talking about the testing of the Death Star. Vader was talking about getting stopped while retrieving the plans. (Or something- I'm working off memory here.) So we are back to square one with them I suppose unless Rogue 1 ties them in somehow. Quote
Artanis I Posted April 11, 2016 Posted April 11, 2016 Great discussion about the Rebels TV show going on... Finally got around to watching the 1st series BDs, and (surprise, surprise) every Lego set released so far from the TV show was featured in the first 4 episodes. It's The Clone Wars all over again, what's the bet that most of the cool stuff (and important characters) that ever appears from this point on is never made into a set. Quote
Forresto Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Finally saw the final episode of season 2. Wow! As a person with admitted problems with the show, that episode was perfectly epic! First off I was dying when the one brother helicoptered in then later tried to but instead fell to his death. I laughed harder then I should've. I am annoyed he died as that was my favorite design of the inquisitors and now we are probably never going to get him as a figure. The lightsaber fights were all great! Maul was excellent and I hope he comes back! Not to restart the Ashoka debate but I really don't think it's in Vader's character to show mercy, not until Luke in Empire Strikes Back where Vader clearly isn't trying to kill his son. Arguably he was closer to Obi Wan then Ashoka and he killed him in cold blood when he put his weapon away. I don't think there was anyway she would've let him escape alive considering what he became. The only way I can see her surviving is if she fled and made it appear she died by falling or something. No I think regardless of her actual fate she might as well be dead. I think we are going to see a much darker show in season 3, in the same manner as the Clone Wars became grittier and more adult. Thats only a good thing. I hope we get to see the Imperials manage to beat the protagonists in an Empire Strikes Back fashion. At the very least let stormtroopers have better aim. This could be easily explained as Lothal and other planet garrisons getting less experienced troops that are more for show then combat, so as the growing threat of the rebellion spreads the Ghost crew begin to face against better trained troops. These stormtroopers can look exactly the same but maybe they're actually battle hardened soldiers. Quote
Japanbuilder Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 They have a lot to work with for season 3 I think. The Agent Kallus (forget his spelling atm) story thread was left very much on a cliffhanger of sorts. He seemed to be questioning his loyalty. Zeb and Sabine need more work I feel. Ezra I believe is becoming more desperate to "win" rather than "survive" though his first true taste of the darkness was a bit flip-floppy to me (he manages to see he made an error but then opens that holocron anyway??? hmm...some lesson learned I guess). Kanan Jarrus and Hera have a lot to do, though I am shocked they seem to be leaving Kanan in the state he is in. You can fix amputated limbs but not that??? Say what??? Ahsoka Tano seemed to live unless that was a cut away of her lifeless body falling down a hole. Guess We will have to wait and see though I wonder what role she will fill going forward? And yes more crack Storm Troopers pls! But only because they are my favorite! Heh heh! Can never have too many of those guys! Quote
ChiefPie Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 Ahsoka definitely survived as you can see her go inside the temple. And wouldn't Kanan be able to get cybernetic eyes like Wolffe? But I guess they are too expensive! Quote
Captain Nemo Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I like to think that was Ashoka's white/neutral force ghost heading into the underworld. It could be a really tragic ending if she were stuck in some sort of force purgatory--she is no Jedi after all. But all that's beside the point unfortunately, since it seems like she won't be in Rebels again even if she survived. In regards to season 3, I hope we'll see a lot more of my fav, agent sideburns Kallus, since his story line has so much potential now. It would be great to see him going after Ghost & Friends but starting to get conflicted during the battles and hesitate about using deadly force against them. All that and starting to question the Empire as a whole too (what with the whole Geonosis thing). Incidentally, in terms of the Empire itself, I hope those rumors a while back about a possible inclusion of Thrawn will pan out. The "Rebels" empire-version needs another strong imperial Tarkin-esque figure in the mix I think, now that Tarkin himself is not really present and it's likely Vader will have a smaller role too. Maul seems to be due for a large story arc (hopefully a deathly-finite one) though, considering he's apparently going to be the "big bad" for the season. Most likely he'll just show up to entice Ezra (or kidnap him! ) On Kanan's blindness, I don't think we should assume that it's not possible to give him robot-eyes ala La Forge or anything; chances are, it's very much possible within the SW universe, but we should consider that perhaps Kanan doesn't want replacement eyes. It may be something where he now feels more in-tune with the force as he deals with his new life challenges. Or perhaps being blind gets him more love from Hera? We can only hope! Finally, more Sabine. She seems to be the most undeveloped main character, but clearly she's got some mysteriously interesting linage and past going on that has loads of story potential. Quote
Tariq j Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 I think it would be great if they could weave Thrawn into canon again. A lot of people think that Dave Filoni's "big" announcement is about Thrawn and I hope that's the case. I think now with Kanan blind, there's a huge possibility that Ezra will become seduced by Maul to the Dark Side now that Kanan has slightly control over Ezra than before. Quote
