Considering the people in the Star Wars universe aren't from and don't even know of the UK I would consider it completely fine that their accents aren't perfect...

I hope that if we see characters come up again from the movies the voice actors don't get the accents wrong, being British myself I couldn't stand Obi wan's messed up accent from TCW.

Frankly, they weren't aiming for British. They were aiming for a meld of Ewan McGregor and Alec Guiness, which they achieved spectacularly.

Star Wars: Rebels teaser coming on Disney XD this Monday:

https://www.facebook...&type=3

"Star Wars Rebels have been sighted near the premier of Mighty Med! Tune in Monday at 8:30 ET/PT on Disney XD for a special fly-by."

I've heard it will be a 15-second teaser but with no footage. It will definitely have new material and not just the logo though, so chances are there will be some new concept art. :classic:

EDIT: Lucasfilm have also confirmed they'll be tweeting what's shown in the teaser, so don't feel bad if you don't have Disney XD.

I'm worried they're going to nerf it to kid levels. Disney XD does that a lot. They had more freedom to do some pretty non-kiddie things with Cartoon Network. Disney XD? I doubt they'll be doing much. Might even sacrifice plot to make it more "kid friendly" like all their shows do.

They just made the biggest mistake ever. No one watches Disney XD. They only watch it for Ultimate Spider-Man. They should of put Star Wars Rebels on the Disney Channel.

The one-hour premiere episode is on Disney Channel, after that it's all Disney XD, so Disney Channel will have a bit of the show.

There are some preliminary pictures available, I'll deeplink them:

Even Mace Windu, Quinlan Vos, Admiral Thrawn..

There's a few more, and all in regular size: here , credit to that page as a source too

Fake. Lots of them are from after the Rebels era, plus the images of Tarkin, Ahsoka, and the admiral with Thrawn are unaltered images from TCW.

Yeah, they're fan art from this artist. Don't believe everything you see on some kid's photostream.

Also, as much as I love Mace Windu, if they revive him, I'm gonna be furious! (no pun intended)

"The rise of the Jedi" is not exactly something I'd expected to see.

Haha, good point. I wouldn't take that teaser too seriously. They probably just strung a bunch of cool-sounding lines together that include the words "rebel alliance", "jedi", and "force" and called it a trailer.

They are very well done, and looking through the photostream there are some things that'd work really well in Rebels (more minor Imperials like Screed appearing? Yes please!) but in the end it's quite obviously a fake. Have we seen any official images from the series?

I do take it seriously to a certain extent. In my understanding, the Jedi Order was destroyed at the end of EP III. Yoda went into exile, and so did Obi Wan Kenobi. Whether or not any other Jedi survived, I think they all were dead at the beginning of EP IV. Now, will Disney make a Star Wars film or series in whatever period of time that does not feature Jedi? I don't think so. So compared to the end of EP III, some kind of "rise of the Jedi" seems a necessity.

Posted

Yeah, I know what you're saying. That's something I'm worried about too. It does seem unlikely that they would make a SW show without any Jedi. That's like making a Batman TV show without Batman in it (Oh wait...). And even if there are Jedi in the show, they probably wouldn't just show Vader killing them off. On the other hand, having the Jedi rise up against the empire would go against everything we know about Jedi in the OT. I could see some survivors like Ahsoka helping the rebels out occasionally, but I would expect them to stay hidden. I guess we'll just have to hope that Disney doesn't screw this up. May the force be with us...

Well. I'm beginning to hope that you're right and that it's basically a cool-sounding line. On days like this, it always strikes my mind that there are still a few TCW stories I would have liked to see, especially, but not exclusively, the evolvement of Order 66, and I'm beginning to mourn the fact that these stories most probably will never be told on screen.

If I had children who wondered why they never were told how their beloved heroes (clone soldiers) could slaughter their Jedi friends in EP III, I'd tell them that this is because of the evil Disney. "Ever seen Mickey Mouse? You think it looks friendly and harmless? Well, don't trust Mickey Mouse, it's a product of the evil Disney who prevented the world from being told how this exactly happened!" Well. I think I should start caring less about SW.

It should be noted that there are a handful of Jedi that survived (see Coruscant Nights, Last of the Jedi, etc) but I feel that number keeps growing and there needs to be a stop eventually. If they do bring in survivors, I think they need to seal their fate as well.

For those of you who were hoping to see Darth Vader going around and hunting down the remaining Jedi Knights in this series, prepare to be disappointed. Meet the Inquisitor, the guy Vader apparently hired to do the Jedi hunting for him. More info here.

I have a bad feeling about this.

Fun fact: they're both British. And also, it's unclear why Obi-Wan would need to sound like the actor who plays an 80 year-old version of him. To my ears, TCW went for a lovely posh-English cliché.

Groan. Why? Darth Vader is a damn good enough character to deserve screen time in this new series. I bet my house and entire collection of nice hats that this 'Inquisitor' will turn out to be a recycling of lame tropes - because every good spin-off serial NEEDS some brand-new poorly-written 'characters' that are obviously so important that everyone in-universe decides not to mention them again. At least they could have had the courtesy to us long-time fans by not making the new bloke look pretty much exactly like an unmasked Vader.

Protip for Filoni: The Original Trilogy writers are better than you, try to pick up their their hints if you can. Also: give screen-time to Mon Mothma, the leader of the Alliance getting about thirty-seconds on the screen is a reasonable plot hole in the classic series.

/bitter rant.

For the record, the Inquisitors have been around for a long, long time, and as annoying as the plot point is, I'm happy they're getting some limelight. Even more so if this is Inquisitor Malroum.

Also, bringing in an EU source like the Inquisitors shows they may be willing to bring in characters like Bel Ilbis.

On the other hand, the concept of the Inquisitors is something they might've just found in the EU and decided it fit well with the way they like to add lesser villain characters. Like the Nightsisters and Death Watch.
