Fives Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Fresh from SDCC, a new trailer that shows a lot more of whats to come, including some old friends and more of the new villains. http://www.starwars.com/video/star-wars-rebels-a-look-ahead Personally, I find that Luminara Unduli's appearance is awesome and if there are more cameos from PT characters, it will greatly help fill the gap between the trilogies. K-Nut Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 This makes it look very interesting! I love the bridge between OT and PT that is presented in the trailer, especially with the characters. Definitely gonna give this a shot. Quote
Fives Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Another video showing a short duel between Kanan, Ezra and the Inquisitor. http://insidetv.ew.com/2014/07/24/star-wars-rebels-inquisitor-fight/ The Inquisitor's lightsaber is brilliant and I really wonder if they will try to do something with the inevitable LEGO fig we'll get, or if he'll just get a standard black lightsaber hilt. Brickdoctor Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 I realize the the entire EU is now non-canon, but do we have a tally somewhere of the Jedi who have been introduced as having survived Order 66 or been retconned to have survived Order 66? I imagine that that number's getting pretty big. Did the bridge of the Star Destroyer at the opening of that trailer look unnaturally high, or was that just me? As compared to the studio model seen here, of Devastator. (It has the six turbolasers and two ion cannon turrets of an Imperial-I from Star Wars, but it has the lower antenna assembly above the superstructure of an Imperial-II; it's labeled as the Devestator when presented at expos, so my guess is that it's a studio model from Star Wars adjusted slightly for reuse in Empire.) Clone OPatra Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Hmm, so what was that about the Inquisitor being a big threat in battle? Looks like Kanan glued him to the ceiling fairly easily Quote
BrickG Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Hmm, so what was that about the Inquisitor being a big threat in battle? Looks like Kanan glued him to the ceiling fairly easily It's Disney. Kanan will probably make all the villain talk complain about meddling kids or something. My hopes still aren't up. It's a kid show and I don't see it ever having real adult appeal. I wish they'd make these shows for EVERYONE and not just kids (Clone Wars was just kids, yeah some adults liked it but very few beyond core Star Wars fans). Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Oh, also, I love the use of the Joe Johnston Empire AT-ST concept walkers. They look great. Not too crazy about the Stormies with the opening faceplate helmet that look derived from the McQuarrie Snowtroopers, though — I don't see too much purpose for them when the Empire already has vanilla Stormies. Fives Posted July 26, 2014 Posted July 26, 2014 Heres an interview with Filoni and Kinberg. The most interesting this is what they have to say about the lightsabers in the show, but its worth watching the whole thing. Quote
The Real Walkers Posted July 27, 2014 Posted July 27, 2014 I assume Luminara is still alive because she was stationed on Kashyyyk where Yoda was? It just doesn't make sense why she is still alive... Unless they change where she was stationed when Order 66 was executed... Still looking forward to it! Quote

Unless they change where she was stationed when Order 66 was executed... Still looking forward to it! Wookieepedia had previously said that she did die on Kashyyyk. Her death isn't seen in Sith, though, so with the entire EU being made non-canon, there's no conflict if Rebels resurrects her. Quote

I know she died on Kashyyyk, I'm just wondering why she would be kept alive by the clones and imprisoned for the purposes of the plot. That or making lightsabers... Quote
Darth Punk Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Anyone see The First Look of Rebels last night on Disney XD? Quote
Fives Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 Here it is. It has a very distinct Disney feel, but its also a lot like A New Hope. I feel like this mix works very well. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 I know she died on Kashyyyk, I'm just wondering why she would be kept alive by the clones and imprisoned for the purposes of the plot. That or making lightsabers... I'm wondering if the story isn't that she was pulled from the line, investigated and imprisoned after Bariss Offee went on her little murder spree. Since Clone Wars is cannon, she might have already been quietly under lock and key, and Palpatines control, when Order 66 was given. Quote
Krulis Posted August 5, 2014 Posted August 5, 2014 The preview was ok. Sabine and Zeb seem to be very interesting characters, Kannan wasn't bad but Ezra...he was at least annoying. Oh well. It just clarified that secondary characters in this show will be the coolest (Sabine, Inquisitor, Chopper, Agent Kallus and Zeb) Quote
wesker Posted August 6, 2014 Posted August 6, 2014 I didn't mind Ezra. He wasn't as annoying or bratty as Ahsoka was in her debut. Quote
Darth Punk Posted August 13, 2014 Posted August 13, 2014 I'm not sure how I feel about the characters, but I do like the look of Rebels. It does have an OT feel to it which I of course like and makes me feel like Star Wars is moving in the right direction. It's also something my older daughter and niece will enjoy watching. Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 REX (from Star Tours) is in Rebels! As well as an Aqualish! (good for making a Lego Ponda Baba) Quote
Faefrost Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 REX (from Star Tours) is in Rebels! As well as an Aqualish! (good for making a Lego Ponda Baba) Oh, R X! You got my hopes up with Rex. I was hoping there was confirmation of a Captain Rex story arc. Quote
Jedi-Bendu Posted August 14, 2014 Posted August 14, 2014 There's also a pic of the Rebels version of this vehicle: I more and more get the feeling they're making this series not just for the kids (like CW) but also with the grown up fans from the OT in mind. Quote

Considering the history I doubt it. You need to do more than fill something with references to make it good (for all ages). Otherwise Star Trek Into Darkness would have been amazing :P. Quote

It's more than references.....REX and Lando Calrissian are in it; they used a LOT of RmcQ artwork/design; have a look at ': it's a near copy of the 'Here they come' scene from ANH; there are familiar vehicles/ships (the family speeder, TIE Fighters, the Troop Transport)....... You just listed off a whole bunch of things that do indeed make fans of the OT go 'squeee…' but that does not make a good show. It comes down to dialogue and story; everything else is secondary.
