I'm pretty impressed with the new design, and from the picture and video, it looks like it has some clever builds in it which is nice..

I also however think the nose and the size difference of R2-D2 and the fighter are a bit off..

Oh wow another X-Wing. Didn´t expect that.

Why do they have to release the boring, "iconic" sets always during the May 4th promotion and keep the good one for fall?

Just so the stupid kids can get their hand on the exclusive metallic blue chrome Jango or whatever they are giving out and stick it up their noses.

It´s just so plain and same to the earlier version. YES there are some changes but that is like comparing 2004 Dagobah X-Wing and 2006 Hoth X-Wing.

I don't get your point at all. I don't think the X-Wing is particularly boring at all, and I don't know why you're using 'iconic' as a criticism. The previous UCS version came out aaaaages ago, so there's nothing wrong with a rerelease.

And what's your problem with kids getting the May 4th bonus? They are intended for kids...... and I think calling them 'stupid kids' comes off as incredibly miserable and just plain nasty, as well as being a complete opposition to the entire point, motto and backbone of Lego. You sound the sort of AFOL who'd take the last Millenium Falcon set out of a child's hands in the middle of the store....

I hate it to correct you here, but not a single designer in any company makes decisions about the product lineup. Those decisions are made by the management.

Second, and more importantly, you might already be aware that what you would like - more competition to Lego so their products are becoming more interesting for your personal taste - is a statement that is hard to understand. Actually, I am sure TLC is having a lot of competition and that's why they need to make money and not please a few hardcore fans. Making money means developing and releasing sets that will sell, and this one will do. For me it's a miracle that they didn't make remakes already in the UCS line! They need to make money, we all want them to make money to live on with our hobby. Also consider please that tastes are different and for many it's important to get a cool X-Wing rather than a strange B-level ship that was seen in the background. Please also remember that if a similiar model was available 12 years ago, it doesn't necessarily mean we were all into Lego at that time or had the money or space. Releasing a new police station every 2 or 3 years makes perfectly sense, and I find a 12 years for a new X-Wing considerably harmless. Let's be happy for all our mates here who can now get one without paying the horrible amounts on Ebay or BL! Cheer up, mate!

Guys I know we just got the news about the x-wing but I hope that we get the ewok village soon as I am desparate for that set to come out in lego, i do however think it will as the person who said it would also said an x-wing was coming out and that has turned out to be true, and he did say it was a guy who worked for lego, fingers crossed but I do think it will come out later this year.

The UCS X-Wing looks interesting and certainly has a lot more detail than the previous version, but I'm not a UCS guy so this one is a pass for me. Anyone else notice how it's coming out at the beginning of May though, so people can pick this set and the May the Fourth Be With You exclusive minifig?

Iv been waiting for years for this to be made into a UCS set.

I honestly think the we'll be seeing a Jedi Interceptoras the next UCS set, but I hope lego moves towards large Lego Exclusive sets(Geonosian Arena, Cloud City, Rebel Transport Ship.)

By the way, I was looking into it and the only episode that the HH-87 Starhopper appears in with the pirates is the episode where Grevious attacks Hondo's Pirate Lair, and since this sets appears to be based off the pirates from the look of the speeder bike, I believe it will be based off that episode. Sorry I know it's a bit off topic at the moment, but someone was talking abouyt this a couple of days ago so I though I would share my information.

I would definitely be in for an UCS set that was more a playset or diorama piece, although I'm pretty sure that will not be a reality.

Does anyone know if the new AOTC Anakin has a double sided head? FBTB didn't take a picture of him with his hair off. I would really like him to have an expression that represents the way he looks when he slaughters the Tuskens.

I think someone , maybe the Brickshow, but he has the generic angry face.

The more I think about an arena set the less likely I think it will happen. For an Exculsive set it would require a lot of new Molds, for each creature it would be a Mold for each head, leg, tail and torso, most likely jaw as well. Then it would be interesting to see if LEGO redesign the Geonosian's since their current model is CW. It seems less likely everytime I think about it or, it would be really expensive. However I hope I'm wrong as I would love to get my hands on the creatures!

Given that figs like Poggle, Dooku, Jango, Mace, Armidala with ripped shirt etc which would be naturals for an arena set are coming up soon across a variety of AoTC sets I would say the chances of us seeing an arena specific set are basically nil.

A pity really as I would probably buy such thing if it existed.

That R2-unit (in the x-wing ucs) is just too small why didn't they make it more like:

But then with a round top?

I think the X-Wing looks great, an improvement over the original, I am however very disappointed. I like many others want to see new sets. I don't own the X-Wing, if I wanted it, I would've bought it, personally, it's not to my taste, I'd like to see more offerings that are, more choice. There are an infinite number of other possibilities crying out for the treatment. I'm convinced now they've opened the door they will begin rehashing them all.

I may buy, build and resell as I have done with many of the sets. It doesn't look like I'll be able to continue doing so without losing money.

I have been watching monitoring the great influx of X-Wings that have been appearing on EBay and selling for less and less. I would hope that the vast majority of buyers will also be in the know and not get robbed for the sort of premiums we have seen over the years only a month or two before the new set, OUCH!!!

The Falcon however? I doubt it! It's too big. It didn't sell before at 250, it'll likely be more like 550/600 now, and the SSD isn't selling either, at 350. If they do another MF it'll be much smaller. Who has the room for these things at that scale anyway?!

Harrison ford just have signed for SW7:

And now it is safe bet to expect falcon in sw7. So making new falcon ucs will not be great just for original trilogy admirers, but also for promoting new disney trilogy. I think that not only we will see new falcon ucs but that it will surpass original one in brick number.

Ooh, I like the new x-wing, and I'll definately get it. I'll probably just remove R2 if it looks odd. I'm glad they've re-released it, as it makes it more affordable to those who missed it first time round.

Isn't is suppose to be minifig scale?

If so, I think the scale on the close-up shots of R2 in the X-wing are "more incorrect". In the video clip, the designer of the new UCS X-Wing noted that there were some discrepancies in the model they used in the film. Maybe the way R2 was depicted is what he's talking about.

It'll be very different I imagine, it'll open up and be 'playable' like the second Death Star offering if they do one, and obviously tailored more towards kids at a far lower price, and lower part count.

LEGO will additionally be VERY busy creating a multitude of other new ships from 7-9, not to mention the additional spin offs. If the leaked rumours/posters are true the Falcon will likely be crashed in the new film, removing it from 8-9, but there's always the Han Solo spin off to consider.

Harrison's resign is still a rumour! (Although likely!)

That's the thing, they already have it (UCS JSF)! They probably found it's too big being 4x4. Couldn't explain otherwise.

Exactly, I did some googling and found that R2-D2 is more or less in scale with the X-wing X-Wing-Red-Five-Model.jpg

Then it's time for a new brick that's round and 3x 3 :-)

I don't think the Geonosian head needs to be redone if it's released in an Attack of the Clones set. Poggle the Lesser resembles the Clone Wars version more than the AotC one to me, and the one we have now is already pretty accurate.

Plus I'm guessing the Geonosian was thrown into the Advent Calendar to accompany that Geonosis set (the droid from the set is also there) so I think the current one is fine.

Wouldn't the new moulds be a selling point though? I don't know how much it costs to produce them and a Petranaki Arena set would be the only time they'll be used at all, but I imagine it'd be popular if it's what people want and has a good model to go along with it.
