Hulk_Smash Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Thats just the angle of the picture, short legs don't move like these do. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 I'm a little disappointed that we're not getting an all-new character -- didn't we just get a new Hoth Han in 7879? This version does look a lot better, but still... Quote
Lobot Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Well I'm totally underwhelmed by Han....it's the worst version of him I've seen! I remember him as the original Kenner figure (my first one at the age of about 7!) and he had a dark BLUE jacket. Ah well, at least I won't have to spend £50 on May 4th unless there's some nice discounts. I'm (still) hoping that 7879 will be included in the sale; I refuse to buy it at full RRP but it would be nice to have K-3PO etc. Quote

Lobot Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 How exacly May 4th promotion works? There's normally a small number of SW sets on sale between 10-20% off on the 4th and if you spend £50 they include free shipping and a gift (usually a exclusive minifigure - last year it was a TC-14). In previous years the £50 had to be spent on SW, but last year any purchase(s) totalling above £50 entitled you to free shipping & the minifigure. Quote

I hope this works the same way in Denmark (mean free shipping) as buying sets for regular price doesn't make much sense. Quote
TheBrickDaddy Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 The Han is really disappointing, not necessarily because the minifig itself is bad, but because... well, why Han? There are so many other characters Lego could have picked. Shoutout to cavegod, however, for coming up with the right rumor mill info yet again! Quote
Faefrost Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 i see short legs on Han... Its just an illusion because he has leg printing. It looks like Lego gave the fig Han's knee high Mukluks. Quote
Super Brick Collector Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 What a disappointment if that's the May 4 exclusive. I prefere a rare trooper or some rare alien. Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 This is the worst 4th May fig I have ever seen. He is not the kind of character that deserves to be 4th May exclusive. He is Han Solo in a parker. This is regular set tier. Actually, he is regular set tier. He already was in three or four sets and just because LEGO has to use colorblind people as designers that are having fights over the most random figs instead of the ones that really matter we have to throw this year in the garbage can? Not even the thousandth "scared" face saves this. When the same idiot who chooses the exclusive figs is also in charge of the Superhero exclusive we probably get Bruce Wayne in a black suit in June. To be honest I don't have a clue what is wrong with designers choice of colors. The best example are blu TIEs. On the other hand the models had to be approved by Lucasarts so it makes the double mistake. Quote
Danthebrick Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Also a bit disappointed with the choice of May the Fourth figure - would definitely prefer a colour twist on a trooper or droid or a chromie. However I will probably get one as have most the exclusive figures and its a nice gesture from Lego for us collectors. Quote
lightningtiger Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Maybe Disney chose it not anything to do with Lucas and by the looks of it we'll have that debate again.......was he wear blue or brown in episode 5 ? Quote
Sam892 Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 Yay I don't like the figure which is great! Means I don't have to spend more money in order to get him. A bit disappointed its not Episode II based as it would have made sense to have done something around it. Quote
North Lego Star Posted March 29, 2013 Posted March 29, 2013 What a waste of a May the Mourth be With You Minifig. Although the printing on Han is nice, Hna's coast is supposed to be blue and the minifig is not anything new really. We could have gotten something a little more special like a New Jedi From Epsiode 2 that dosen't require a new mold, but instead we got another Hoth Han. It would have been nice to at least get something like a Asteriod Breathing Mask Han minifig since it's never been made before. I may end up not buying stuff until I find it on sale at this poin because I'm pretty dissapointed by this minifig. Quote
sologuy369 Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 (edited) You don't have to like the minifigure but TLC doesn't have to give free stuff or incentives away ever. Be glad we are getting something. Life will go on. EDIT: Here is some more info and a new picture from FBTB. http://www.fbtb.net/2013/03/29/may-the-fourth-2013-promo-minifigure-hoth-han-solo/#more-20707 Edited March 30, 2013 by sologuy369 Quote
wesker Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 While its nice to have a more accurate representation of Han's Hoth outfit, I wish Lego had saved this for a future Hoth set and gone with a rarer character for the exclusive. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 I'm going to agree with FBTB on this: it's a nice figure, but when you consider that we've gotten a lot of Hoth sets lately, all of which could've benefited from the inclusion of a new more accurate Han, it's disappointing both that updated Han was not in those Hoth sets (which are still available) and that we didn't get a different minifig that wouldn't have made sense in a set. Chrome Darth Vader, White Boba Fett, Shadow ARF, Chrome TC-14 - all variants of a minifig that wouldn't make sense in a regular set. (Okay, Chrome TC-14 does have a color scheme that might make sense in a regular set, but it deviates from the normal choice of colors for metallic minifigs. Sort of the same for Chrome Vader and the 'real' Vader's shiny black armor.) To be honest I don't have a clue what is wrong with designers choice of colors. The best example are blu TIEs. On the other hand the models had to be approved by Lucasarts so it makes the double mistake. In regards to the blue TIEs, the TIE/ln models made for Star Wars originally had blue trim, but that was removed when they figured out that the trim would be rendered invisible after chroma key with a blue screen. (much as the X-wings were originally Blue Squadron with the Y-wings being Red Squadron, changed to Red Squadron and Gold Squadron, respectively) The TIEs in Star Wars have close to white trim, but a noticeably bluish shade of grey was added in post production for Empire and Jedi. I'm not sure if TLG decided to go with blue TIEs or if Lucasfilm asked that they be made blue in accordance with the "original vision", but that's the accepted explanation behind any blue TIEs. Quote
Faefrost Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 It's not a bad figure. Actually the printing is quite good. And I love the face with the ski mask and gogles. Granted not my first choice for a bonus giveaway fig, but not that bad. Certainly an improvement over "Darth Vader with a medal". Quote

It actually could be useful for anyone planning a "The Thing" MOC - otherwise pretty forgetable. If I get one it will be heading straight to E-Bay methnks. Quote
Albus Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 It's a great figure, I think, but I too am a bit puzzled by the choice. As said on FBTB, he would have fit very well in "74014 Battle of Hoth". Even then, I wonder why the Han Solo from 2011's Hoth Echo Base (with his new hood) wasn't made brown, if they were updating. Why have all the other hoth Han's been blue not brown? Confusing... I'll definitely be getting him anyway: I have Battle of Hoth lined up as my Star Wars purchase for May (so he may as well be from that set... ). Quote
Ceroknight Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 It's supposed to be released in May..at least in Canada and the US.. Quote
Ki-Adi-Mundi Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Well, the reception isn't that good by now but actually i feel interested in the new Han Solo minifig. Let's see what sets they will put at a discount. For the time being, there is little i do need. Reasonable discounts might be pursuasive though. BTW - hasn't any BP been announced for the summer wave? I have not yet found any clue. To tell the truth, i hope for one OT BP. One with regular Stormies and regular Rebel Troopers (Alderaan uniform they wore aboard the Tantive IV). Quote
