Wouldn't an Ewok village be more of a play set versus a UCS set? If it did turn out to be UCS Ewok village I'd be majorly disappointed as I am hoping for more SW vehicles we haven't seen yet (OT or PT for that matter). That said, if there are lots of people out there who want a UCS Ewok village, I'd be happy for them :) Would give me time to catch up and get R2-D2 and the B-Wing :)

A UCS TIE sure would look good next to this year's UCS X-Wing though!!!

Whaaat? Nooo! :look:

I always loved how the Scout hasn't been redesigned once since he first appeared. Sure, maybe the design could be improved, but that looks like mediocre customs from years ago.

I'd agree that black printing on white would be better because so far, printing on black has never worked right, colours just don't match.

I always thought a redesign should be made available since the 2000s Scouts look like they are as armored as the Stormtroopers which is certainly not the case. But this Scout here. White on black printing looks like baby blue at some points, the arms would need a bit of printing or white hands and the torso is as crap as the new Stormtrooper. I am happy enough with just color inverting my old Scouts legs and arms. Not the best solution but the Scout is really hard to do justice.

The arms should be black with white printing on the shoulders, black hands and white legs with black printing on the upper part. Problem with the arms would be that it still is expensive and rare on minifigs and even if they did it the white wouldn´t be clean white with the black plastic shining through.

And of course they still forget to print the helmets nose.

I REALLY WANT LEGO TO SELL A GIANT AT-AT!!

PLEASE, Please, please....

(-;

I second that like always.

Not sure they could do it enough justice at a certain scale, it would be too big.

You mean like 22 pound and 80cm long Millenium Falcon? Or 71cm tall Imperial Shuttle?

Technically you're correct. An Ewok Village set would be termed a Lego S@H Exclusive, not a UCS set.

Last Death Star was also a UCS set, while being a big playset too.

Even cloud city and the Tie collection are considered being UCS by the Lego Group itself.

Just because a set has the 10xxx numbering, it doesn't make it a UCS. Technically, I don't believe any of those 3 are considered UCS.

None of them are UCS.

Indeed. Five-digit set numbers only indicate the exclusivity of a set. UCS is not based on piece count or size, UCS is not based on price, UCS is not a defined scale, and UCS is not based on set number. The best way to describe UCS is probably as a style of building: simply put, more detailed than System sets. But ultimately (no pun intended) the series is defined by TLG, so the best way to decide which sets are or aren't UCS sets is by the presence or lack of presence of the acronym 'UCS' in the set's name.

The "Ultimate Star Wars Sets" poster does not represent all the sets that TLG considers to be UCS; it excludes obviously UCS sets like the first UCS X-wing and the UCS TIE/in, while it includes obviously System sets like the TIE Collection, Cloud City, and the 10th Anniversary Tantive IV. (In fact, it never says anywhere on the poster that the sets are UCS, just that they are "10 years of ultimate LEGO Star Wars sets". "Ultimate LEGO Star Wars sets" ≠ "Ultimate Collector's Series".)

There may be some technical limitations in the abilities to do some printing. Especially that little bit on the nose. The overhang from the brow probably prevents any machine printing in the pocket formed below it. The new scout seems a reasonable compromise to me.

UCS as a designation has not actually been used by Lego in years. Nor has "Modular" in the case of what we consider the Modular buildings. Lego simply considers these more recent sets large detailed exclusive sets. It's we, the fans, that apply the "UCS" designation to sets that we find impressive enough these days. Lego doesn't consider the sets that you list anything other than exclusives.

 That's funny, I'd never noticed that they'd stopped referring to the sets as 'UCS'.

Guess it's been longer than I'd thought since I'd become serious about LEGO; my ingrained LEGO dictionary apparently needs to be updated. :look:

The point stands, though: UCS is a style of building, one of which Cloud City and the TIE Collection are obviously not a part of.

Remind me, when did they announce the B-Wing last year? That way I can set my heart on a future date and announcement :)

Announced July 6 at Brick Fiesta, available for purchase beginning in October.

Before you get to worked up, don't forget that there is a strong chance that the next such set reveal might not be a Star Wars set. There is a long reported yet sofar unannounced Lord of the Rings Orthanc set in the pipeline that may be sitting in that release window. The alternative is it might be the Endor set as a replacement to the Death Star.

Also worth noting is the fact that the Arkham Asylum Breakout set was announced in October of last year and released in December. My guess is that the LotR Orthanc set will be announced over the summer for an autumn release, and the Ewok Village will follow a similar timetable as Arkham. Just speculation, of course.

Current B-Wing is listed on S@H as Ultimate Collector Series......

@brickdoctor: sorry, I actually the poster was showing just UCS sets.

But I do of course agree on most sets wheter they are UCS or not. (tie collection is anti-UCS)

Last Death Star was a UCS set, right? (please, then I have at least one UCS :) )

But I would think the Ewok Village is UCS.

Technically, no, the Death Star is just a really big exclusive System set. I would think that any large Ewok Village would be System, too, since like the Death Star it would probably just be a big playset.

An oversized image in a Spoiler is still an oversized image that has to be loaded with the page. Changed to a link.

Interesting! That's one of the mystery figs from the Jekk Stealth Fighter set? It's a nice looking figure. Plus it gives us a clue on how Lego may opt to do Some non standard roguish helmets to good effect. Things like that Helmet that the teenaged Boba Fett wore in the TCW episode "Bounty" or the Obi Wan wore when impersonating Rako Hardeen. Not to mention any number of Bounty Hunter like variants. I hadn't realized how adaptable the fairly flat and blank front of the new Mandalorian helmet really is. You can do a lot with it just by changing printing.

That helmet with different printing would also work well in a few other themes. Such as a fairly decent Iron Man Mk1, or any number of Marvel or DC characters.

I agree about the Mando helmet being useful for an Iron Man Mk I. I would have used one on mine if it weren't for the printing.

On topic, that fig looks nice, although, the white helmet was an interesting choice.
