TWP Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Technically, no, the Death Star is just a really big exclusive System set. I would think that any large Ewok Village would be System, too, since like the Death Star it would probably just be a big playset. :( Quote
Navy Trooper Fenson Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 wonder if the Harkeen minifig will come with a helmet like that? On the box pic that we saw a few weeks ago it seemed like he didn´t have his helmet. I think they will scrap the helmet in this case. :( Why do people even care about the UCS designation? What would an UCS Ewok village even be? A bunch of trees and treehouses as huge as my couch? I´m just calling everything with a 10XXX number UCS, it is quicker to type than S@H exclusive. Quote
Alcarin Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Cannot wait for new sets... waiting is so long! Quote
Darth Malgus Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Be a shame not to use the helmet in that set, although I fear you may be right. Quote
Haderach Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 Agree with all the UCS comments, it seems a dated term that LEGO has moved away from. All that said, here is hoping for another highly detailed exclusive Star Wars vehicle of some kind in October 2013. I missed out on so many great ones in previous years, I need more!! I just finished the SSD and I need a fix, May can't get here soon enough. Quote
TWP Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 About the UCS, I can remember that two years ago during a Lego exhibition (Lego World, Zwolle, The Netherlands), the designers were wondering what we, LUG members/AFOLs, thougth of the name UCS and limited/special edition. The Lego designers were not really satisfied with those names, so asked individuallu for advice and tell what we thought. I can remember I voted anti-"UCS", maybe I regret that afterwards, because it sounded like a set is hard to obtain and only for die-hard collectors. I think I voted for SE, though it sounds a bit dull. Quote
shaggysanchez Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 I got an email from TLG today about May 4th minifig, free shipping, and the poster but nothing about any sales or discounts on sets. Any idea when we might get info on that or could they not be doing any discounts this year? Quote

Any idea when we might get info on that or could they not be doing any discounts this year? I don't think they normally do sales or discounts for the May 4 promotion. It's normally the promotional minifig, plus a new SW set release. I can't remember if they even do double or bonus VIP points? Quote

Normally on the larger sets but its only like 20% off if i remember. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I'm really hoping that the UCS R2-D2 sees a discount for May the 4th. I've been putting off buying that one, and now would be the perfect time. Quote

I can't remember if they even do double or bonus VIP points? Oh they did alright...even that one time back in 2010 when they accidentally put the UCS Millennium Falcon on 70% off (once in a lifetime price error on such an epic set); nothing like that will happen but there has been 20% off big sets in the past. Yeah, it was 75% off in Canada and 25% off in the rest of the world. And yes, there have been plenty of discounted sets before. FBTB always does a nice writeup; you can see that last year, the big discounts were 20% off of the UCS SSD and 20% off of the UCS Shuttle, with a bunch of other items at 10% off. Quote
Koptokaff Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I would actually like some more buildings. I think that we have enough spaceships, speeders and walkers, but we don´t have any place to repair them. We don´t have any place to rest our heroric mini fig´s. And there are so many buildings we could have. Both large (and expensive) and smallere ones (cheaper). ... anyway, that is allso what my 7 years old boy is asking for in my house. Quote

TeufelHund Posted April 29, 2013 Posted April 29, 2013 I think there's a lot of scope for a big Mos Eisley set - a decent sized-cantina, a dewback and maybe a few mositure vapourators or the MF hanger. The cantina alone would let Lego produce some nice new minifigs that have never been seen before. Quote

Lego's recent Hobbit line proved that they do not have a huge aversions to bars. I doubt they would include a hanger for a non-included set though. Quote

Faefrost Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Hmmm? A few interesting tidbits in the Lego Club magazine hat showed up today. Mainly regarding the Yoda Chronicles and the Jekk 14 Stealth Fighter. I'm not sure if we have seen the 4 Minifigs from that set identified or given any background? From the SW minifig checklist it identifies Jekk 14 as some sort of Sith experiment or experimental Sith. The Blue Suited Stormtrooper is a Special Forces Clone Trooper and the other helmeted dude is a Bounty Hunter. Perhaps more interesting is the little Yoda Chronicles blurb that seems to imply that te story may in part involve a truly classic SW EU macguffin. The Kyber Crystal. Holy 1978 Batman! (Granted this is not in any way a cannon story, not even close. But kind of cool to use that reference.) Quote
howie28 Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Well, on Cartoon Network Australia, the first episode of Yoda Chronicles is on TV on Saturday. I'll watch it and see if it's any good. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 Even though I hate the 'real' version of that ship - it looks like a Sail Barge with wings put through a trash compactor - I have to say that TLG did a pretty good job adapting it to LEGO. Every bit as ugly as I remember it was in the show. Quote
Spider-Man Posted April 30, 2013 Posted April 30, 2013 It reminds me of some early 2000's sets with how blocky it looks! It's accurate, but boy is it ugly! Quote
