Killing is a natural evil, but warping reality to one's own ends is an unnatural evil if not tempered by constraint and consideration of the repercussions (Which is the case all too often.)" Would paralyzing or petrifying the spider prevent its passive special? The loot is less than great so I don't mind passing up the fight. It would more be for experience than anything else.
