"I am sorry for what has happened to you. I wish you could believe us when we say not to harm you and your children. Your life is of as much worth as any other. We don't want to kill you. And we won't come back with more men... and women. In fact we are here on our way to find a murderer. Look we are heroes from Heroica and we stand for heroism, not for killing the innocent. So please let us stop this fight. Perhaps you could help us, would you? Have you seen a person dressed in blue?"

"Technically I am no human. As an elf it is my duty to protect nature and all innocent beings. And I think you are worth being protected. May I introduce myself. I am Nessa Anárion, elven ranger at your duty. Trust me, we won't do you any harm. We just need to fulfill our task in catching a murderer. You and your family have nothing to fear from us. So why should we fight?"

"Yes, certainly we could do this. But how much better would you be than the ones you fear? These words of you sound like a warning. I don't want to part as potential enemies waiting for the next encounter. How about leaving each other in good? Just end your aggressive stance and withdraw. We will do exactly the same. You will leave us, we will leave you. Deal?"

OOC: I am sweating blood right now *fingerscrossed*

Or does anyone wants to fight? At least XP is XP

OoC: I want the XP, but Sylph would be upset.

OoC: Can we go without expending a smokebomb?

Sylph bowed to the spider and turned, beckoning the party to leave before him, with him taking up the rear in-case the spider did not keep her side of the bargain.

"Trust me, we will. We do not want to fight you. Just get back to your children and protect them from real dangers. End this fight as a sign of your good will."

"I don't know what you rangers are jabbering on about, but it doesn't seem to be making us much progress. So sorry, but we will finish this thing one way or another. This creature is a threat to society."

"No, Pretzel, this is a mother protecting her children. It is her natural right to defend those she cares about. Killing her would make us not better than those 'threats to society'."

OOC: Nessa really needs an artefact that grants her diplomatic skills soooo badly

"Maybe you should ask this 'mother' what she ate for breakfast this morning." :hmpf_bad:

If Erik downs a mead and rolls a frenzy he will destroy all these eggs in one go. Is the XP worth the loss of a mead, nostrum, and possibly, smelling salt and of course the compromising of your character's morals? I'll let you all decide. Vote anyone?

"Society is a danger to this animal." Stated Sylph sadly.

OoC: Same.

"Only because creatures put beings such as us in danger first. If spiders would not attack people, people would not attack spiders. They are hunted because they are a menace, especially ones of this size."

So you want me to force us into a fight or not? :look:

"They are hunted because humans can hunt them. Humans put themselves above all the rules of nature and kill because they can kill, not because they must. This Spider must kill to protect her young and to feed them, and that is OK. She has come to an understanding with us, and we do not have to kill her. To kill her now would be evil, and I would not stand by such action." Stated Sylph solemnly and determinedly.

OoC: No, that was me to Nessa. If you guys want to fight it, that's A OK with me, but not Sylph.

"Look at her size, Druid. A small rat would not feed this beast for more than an hour, not to mention her young. I have not carefully observed the eating habits of large spiders, but if they eat anything like the little ones do, it will take a lot more than all the rats of Eubric to feed this behemoth."

Have to use a Smoke Bomb to leave battle, sorry.

Sylph chuckled. "I think you underestimate the amounts of large rats in Eubric. Spiders eat pests, Monk. Perhaps with this Spider cleaning up the Sewers, we'll see fewer criminals, monstrous undeads, and unnatural abominations." Stated Sylph plainly. "Which part of your beloved society comes into these Sewers, Monk? The righteous or those who have something to hide? Someone use a smoke bomb and let's be on our way."

"You do have a point. Still, if these spiders are to respawn the way they do, there will soon not be enough evil things for them to feast on."

"Evil festers here like a boil on a man's skin. There will always be evil until all mankind is dead." Stated Sylph solemnly. "Evil tends to find dark places like these to do its work. The spiders will ensure that evil will never again get a threshold here. Also," Sylph added as an aside "Spider young tend to eat each other until only the strong survive, so I don't think the quantity spawned necessarily means that's the number that will inhabit this dungeon."

"Well, I won't argue with. Group unity is important and all and at the very least Erik and Nessa seem to be on your side."

I throw a Smoke Bomb.

"Demon, hand me back that Smoke Bomb, will you? You have the ability to flee if a situation gets too bad."
