Myrddyn Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 "Well, it doesn't look like there's much else to do, anyway. Sure."
CMP Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) The party squeezes through the rather short door into the giant mushroom. The inside is dimly lit by small, glowing fungi, at least half a dozen gnomes are packed tight. Wally is standing up on a crate, looking excited. "-and they're not violent or anything, just, well, kinda annoying, but they're even bigger than they say, and-" "Wait! There they are!! HUMANS!!!" The crowd whirls around to face the party. Several scream, others just stare in horror. The heroes are blocking the only exit. The air is thick with tension and the scent of mushrooms and liquor. What will the party do? Vash the Stampede Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Dreyrugr raised his hands momentarily to show he meant no harm whilst waiting for Erik to be the peacekeeper. He then turned to Pretzel hoping he'd keep his mouth shut.
Myrddyn Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) Erik followed Dreyrugr's lead, raising his empty hands, before saying diplomatically. "We mean no harm! We just want to talk. To a Mr Posco Padfoot? Look, don't mean to impose. We can go outside if you want?" Edited June 30, 2013 by Myrddyn
Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) I reach for a bomb, but then decide against it. Why is that girl beaming like a drunkard. Too much punch I'll wager. I speak Diplomatically. "Greetings small folk and big rock thing, what a pleasure it does us to meet you here in your village. We tried knocking on doors, but couldn't find anyone home. Ummm....Wally here is a friend of ours and a pleasant acquaintance, as I'm sure he has told you, we mean no harm...sort of...any of you care for a pretzel? They're really quite delicious." I offer a pretzel to whomever will accept it. "Also, you are mistaken by calling us humans, this young fellow, Erik, is the only human among us and he's as good a chap as any. In fact it is known that may race, the hermits, are quite closely related to gnomes. Perhaps, you may even be cousins of mine, you know." I shrug. "All in all, I hope you will accept us to your humble village. We mean no harm." Edited June 30, 2013 by Palathadric

Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I look around nervously as the people seem rather speechless. I guess it's better than them being all upset and shouting.
CMP Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) The gnomes barely even pay attention the party's words. "H-H-Humans? Here?" "Come to finish us off, eh? Surprised they have the knowledge to speak!" "Ooh, can I sell you something? Do humans have bigger coins, too?" "Maybe this wasn't such a good idea..." "Pos-?" "QUIET!" The gnome with the epaulets and the enormous hat walks forward, raising his hands for silence. "Now, it's clear that they're nothing like we anticipated, yes. But I assure you, Zylstra will not come under any threat of human attack. To ensure the security of our humble city, perhaps these humans could lay down their arms as a show of amiability? We could accept them as visitors, like any folk, given they are prepared to make some small show of passiveness? " The citizens all look at eachother, muttering quietly, obviously waiting for some kind of response from the heroes as they discussed this strange turn of events. Edited June 30, 2013 by CallMePie
Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 "You would not part an old man from his walking stick," I mutter feebly, clutching my cross as if for dear life.
CMP Posted June 30, 2013 Author Posted June 30, 2013 "Perhaps you would walk easier if I parted you from that heavy-looking shield, too?"
Myrddyn Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 "Can't speak for my companions, but yeah, sounds reasonable to me." Erik puts his two axes, sword and spear on the ground.
Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 "Perhaps you would walk easier if I parted you from that heavy-looking shield, too?" "Hmm, that was not part of your original bargain. "What's your name lad? I like your authority. Where did you get that hat of yours?" "Ooh, can I sell you something? Do humans have bigger coins, too?" "I'm not sure if humans have bigger coins than your folk, I have yet to see yours. Perhaps you could show them to me, whilst I browse through your wares. What do you say we all step out into the light...er...or whatever?"
Dannylonglegs Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 "If peace be what you wish, peace you shall recieve." Stated Sylph, lowering his bow to the floor.
Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 I frown as Sylph lowers his bow. "This cannot end well," I mutter.

What do you say we all step out into the light...er...or whatever?" "Just a jest sir, though me and my town would appreciate it if you'd drop your arms. They call me the Baron, welcome to my little kingdom. This hat our young scavengers found, and it's just so utterly amazing I can't seem to take it off. And without meaning offense, I'd like it if you'd set down your weapons before we open up trade..."
Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 (edited) Again, I speak Diplomatically. "Not a problem. Do you consider my walking stick a weapon? Above ground no one would consider it thus, and I would never use it as one, but if it makes you more comfortable..." "Your kingdom is most pleasant indeed. It must take much work to run it though. I admire your strength in doing so. I have never seen a hat quite like that one. Could I, perchance, try it on? Of course, I totally understand if it's too dear to you. I have many possessions that I would not like to give up." Edited June 30, 2013 by Palathadric
Dannylonglegs Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 "Do as the man says." Stated Sylph. "The quicker we all comply, the sooner we can discuss what we came here to find."
Palathadric Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 "Do as the man says." Stated Sylph. "The quicker we all comply, the sooner we can discuss what we came here to find." "Of course, I just want to make sure that I am doing what he wants and not accidentally leaving something undone. Understand?"

CMP Posted July 1, 2013 Author Posted July 1, 2013 "I would not consider it a weapon, except I think some dried blood on it. And of course, if you set them down, I would let you try on my hat....please see reason, your fellows have done as we wish, will not you? I simply want to maintain the peace here, and we're all unarmed."
