8038 seems way too narrow in the 'head', but the legs look ok. I would definately go with 7657....even though it looks a little clunky. It looks like two guys could fit in it, and it looks pretty menacing......now, to find one for a decent price on ebay !!!!

First, wanted to thank everyone who responded to this. I'm thinking of either getting 8038 on eBay, or waiting to see if there's a new AT-ST produced in the near(ish) future.

Which leads me to my next question...

Do you think the Ewok Village makes a new AT-ST more or less likely? I thought there might be one as an accessory to the village (I know they already included one with the Endor battle in 8038, but as someone pointed out that hasn't stopped Lego from including multiple snowspeeders in Hoth packs). On the one hand a solitary walker would be a great complimentary set to the village...on the other I can see the village being the climax to Endor (and maybe ROTJ) for the foreseeable future.

Well, given that the license will last for several more years, I think it's virtually inevitable that there'll be at least one more AT-ST eventually. I think the only real question is whether or not the next AT-ST set will come out during the lifetime of the new Ewok Village, so that they're available simultaneously (much the same way we currently have multiple sets available simultaneously for the Jabba-related Tatooine scenes from earlier in the movie). I personally think it seems likely; I wouldn't be surprised to see a new AT-ST set in, say, the summer of 2014, perhaps.

I believe we'll get one already in January 2014. But it doesn't mean you shouldn't think about getting 8038. It's a great set and if you are in any way interested in the other Endor sets - especially the new village - I would say get it to complete the scene. Also I might be wrong, and you don't want to wait another couple years to finally get an AT-ST, do you?

Hello,

As the new year begins, I am looking for a 8038 set (an incomplete one) to complete my Ewoks Village ( gift for my birthday)

I really ask myself the same question as this thread.

I am a little suprise that nobody seems to be disturb by the feet of the 8038. It seems too small for my eyes;

I really like to have the 8038 soon so I can put 7657-like feet to check my opinion.

It depends on what do you like better, accuracy, sturdiness, or classic look, compare them your self here:

I like the blocky one better (7657) because its sturdiness, its solid as a rock, about the feet on the most recent one, I think this brick: 47753.jpg in dark grey would make it look better.

I Bricklinked the AT-ST from 8038 for under £20 from only three sellers (by using Brickficiency) which kept the postage quite cheap.

I took the 8038 Parts List in Bricklink and simply deleted all the parts in the list not required for the AT-ST by following the pages in the instruction manual. I far prefer the look of the 8038 version but hate the legs mechanism.

Thank you.

The 7567 is really massive and impressive, even its sell price for a new one...

I missed a 8038 set new without fig, I hope I will find one soon.

What is Brickficiency ?

I also asking myself about doing it or even more, buying a AT-DP set and MOD it to a AT-ST

What is Brickficiency ?

Brickficiency is a tiny Windows program that basically downloads all the prices for all parts from all Bricklink sellers into it's database so that when you load up a Bricklink Wanted List, it calculates the cheapest combination for that Wanted List across up to 4 or 5 sellers - should such a combination exist.

I filter the sellers to UK and a few EU countries to save on postage. The software does not take into account any specific seller rules on minimum purchase price or maximum lots so you need to check each seller in turn.

Once you have chosen the sellers you want to deal with, there is a fairly simple method to generate the list for each seller into secondary Wanted Lists that you can then quickly turn into orders.

For the 8038 AT-ST, once I had worked out what parts I needed and entered the list into a Bricklink Wanted List, it took under 10 minutes to run Brickficiency, find the three cheapest sellers who had all the parts I needed and place the orders!
