Transparency for Effect Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 I remember they WERE going to make a Phineas and Ferb board game, but it got shelved. It's instructions are still available however... http://lego.wikia.com/wiki/3868_Phineas_and_Ferb Quote
Dorayaki Posted May 13, 2014 Author Posted May 13, 2014 (edited) It's not a Phobia. It is actual planning of market segments and age ranges. At what Age ranges will kids seek and play with toys based on Mickie or Pooh? Duplo is designed to cover those ranges. AFOLs do not factor much into this sort of equation, except in rare special cases. I can see them doing something like a D2C captain Hook's Jolly Roger Pirate ship as a big AFOL bait 2000+ piece set. But not a whole minifig based system scale Peter Pan theme. The target audience does not match up with the product. Pretty true, unfortunately. Disney mascots, earlier animated films and the recent Disney Junior shows are all considered to be targeted at younger kids that don't play minifigures. Hook's ship and Pooh's treehouse are both really great picks for AFOLs. Just hope LEGO Ideas can have more projects to do with this. I actually prefer the Friends scale for the princesses. One thing I did not like about the Duplo princesses was their shape was fat, and the animated versions of these princesses are not supposed to be fat. Minifig scale would do the same thing. Minidolls' major problem is their visual conflicts with minifigures, from both licensed and nonlicensed themes. Your saying may apply to any other female LEGO characters who need a more shaped body (eg, Black Widow), but it's not why TLG introduced minidolls after all. I do agree Duplo figures are the least lifelike ones among all LEGO figures. Edited May 13, 2014 by Dorayaki Quote
