MstrOfPppts Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Hi, I recently figured out that my return (Enter) key is not working when replying to a topic. It doesn't work in the quick reply option or in full editor. Not even when starting a new topic. After hitting either of the keys, nothing happens ... This is happening in IE10 run on 64 bit Win 7. I don't have other browsers at the moment, will check the older version later. I had to copy paste an epty line from notepad to achieve this - that's why I only make single line comments Any info on this? Quote
Brickdoctor Posted May 30, 2013 Posted May 30, 2013 Did some quick Googling; it appears that this is a common problem on many sites, and Compatibility Mode should fix it. (Temporary solution, though. Long-term solution: get a different browser.) Quote
Infernum Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Thank goodness I saw this! I've been having the exact same issue! I didn't even tell my computer to update to IE 10... Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Switch to html-mode(toggle editing mode). Than enter should work, a least with me it does. Quote
pbat Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Any info on this? It's a known limitation of the IP.Board Forum Software or rather the CK Editor. According to this post it seems to be adressed in a newer version: The issue has been patched in CK Editor 3.6.5. IP.Board 3.4.4 is running CK Editor 3.6.6, so the problem should be fixed by upgrading your forum to the newest IP.Board. Quote
gmshades Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Don't know if this is the place for this, but I cannot start new paragraphs. I've tried enter, shift + enter, tab. Nothing works. Please inform me of what I'm doing wrong. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 I vaguely remember someone else reporting this before... Are you using Internet Explorer? I think that was the problem last time. Quote
gmshades Posted August 7, 2013 Posted August 7, 2013 Yep, Internet Explorer 10 is the problem. Just jumped onto Google Chrome and it works. Thanks for the tip! Quote
Steven L Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Ah, so that's the problem. What I do is type in Word and copy paste here. But I'll try Google Chrome next time. Quote
pbat Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 I vaguely remember someone else reporting this before... Are you using Internet Explorer? I think that was the problem last time. You are partly right: Although this issue occurs on IE only, it is actually caused by an outdated forum software apparently used here on Eurobricks.com. Maybe the technical staff could update Eurobricks.com to a more recent version of IP.Board where this issue is fixed? Or at least some mod/admin pins some notice to the help section? Quote
Scorpiox Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Yep, Internet Explorer 10 is the problem. Just jumped onto Google Chrome and it works. Thanks for the tip! Internet Exploder is always the problem. Quote
Big Cam Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 We periodically updates the board software as needed. Invision's updates aren't always the most beneficial either. Lots of testing goes in to upgrading the forum software, so if we are behind, we'll get there soon enough. Quote
Ajax Posted September 10, 2013 Posted September 10, 2013 (edited) Can someone explain to me how to change paragraphs? I still don't get it. Never mind, got it. Although Chrome makes everything slower. Edited September 10, 2013 by Ajax Quote
Big Cam Posted September 12, 2013 Posted September 12, 2013 I just press the enter key. Literally that's all I have to do. Quote
DrJB Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) I log on EuroBricks from various computers, all of them running Microsoft Internet Explorer. At times several characters are skipped, as if my keyboard is faulty. However, this happens only on EB forums and nowhere else. You can appreciate how frustrating it is to correct every word you've typed because it is missing few characters. I'm 'convinced' this has got to do with the EB forum/webpage itself. The question is: Has anyone else experienced this, and if so, is there a fix? Also, I cannot highlight any whole word nor can I apply special formatting such as making words bold or using a different color. Edited November 24, 2013 by DrJB Quote
Infernum Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 For some reason quoting doesn't working for me... Quote
DrJB Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 That too, I cannot quote other posts either. Quote
weavil Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 If your version of Microsoft Internet Explorer has compatibility view, try that. If it's not in or next to the address bar then you got to use the developer console. Quote
Dat Lego Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 (edited) Same here. I can't make a new paragraph or post pictures with IE. Edited November 24, 2013 by Dat Lego Quote
Fugazi Posted November 26, 2013 Posted November 26, 2013 Yep, Microsoft IE and the board software don't appear to love each other so much. You can read about similar problems here. Your best course of action is to try IE's compatibility mode, and if that fails switch to a different browser. Quote
