Infernum Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Wow! What a beautiful set! Looks gorgeous! I just wish there was a new Chewie... But the other figs are great! I think I'll go for Orthanc though... While this does have a TON more minifigs, it only has 1990 pieces for $250. Orthanc has 2,359 pieces for $50 less. Most of the figs in this set I already have a version of too, so I think I'll pass. Or maybe wait for a sale, or a damaged box... Damaged boxes are great for Lego sets... 30% off just for the box being a little beat up! Quote
StoutFiles Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 This is great, but not $250 great. Will be waiting for a sale. It's really disappointing they didn't make Force ghosts, this was THE set they should appear in. Then again, they would have made a Hayden Force ghost and I would have thrown up a little. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 WOW!!! This will be a definite buy for me; I'll probably wait for a sale and/or promotion to pick this one up, but it's definitely going in my collection. The only thing that could have been improved on, in my eyes, is more of a resemblance to the huts that we see in the film: http://images.wikia.com/starwars/images/4/4a/Ewok_village.jpg By the way, I couldn't agree more with this statement from Marco Bessa in the design video: "As a Lego Star Wars fan, you might think that this is actually quite a refreshing set in the whole assortment because usually you find on the shelves a lot of spaceships. They are definitely cool, but they are nothing like this one." More Star Wars locations & playsets, please!!! Quote
YavinBase Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 When I first heard about the Ewok Village, I couldn't envision how Lego was going to go about creating such as set. From the pictures, I don't see how Lego could have done much better in its delivery. This will most definitely become part of my Lego collection! Bravo, Lego, Bravo!!!! Quote
Drudoo Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Looks really good and i have been waiting for a long time to see an ewok village but 250$ is too expensive. 175$ would have been better OR putting in an extra 1k bricks. (But i guess the minifigs are the cause of the high price) Quote
Only Sinner Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 You kids were right about predicting an Endor Leia way back when forest maiden CMF came out. What a great looking fig. I am also impressed with the new Jedi Luke and scoutie. This set is a fantastic design and will definately sell well. I still have to get a couple of Death Stars, so this will have to wait. Quote
Andy D Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 All the parts for MOCing! Wow! Colors and parts selection great. But way, way too many mini figs for me. I need to start selling my Star Wars minifigs. Andy D Quote

shaggysanchez Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I honestly dont get all the to expensive talk. It is a star wars set they are always a bit more than a similar sized set. I just spent $200 on a 1500 pcs x-wing with one fig so giving $50 more for close to 500 more pcs and 16 extra minifigs seems like a bargain to me. Quote
Parrothead Rasmus Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 So... am I the only person who didn't help but say "Holy sh*t!" when I saw this on the main page? Now this is a lego set! My only complaint is that they changed the scout trooper... Quote
BrickG Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I think the set looks good. It's about $100 too expensive though. I'm not sure it'll have the sticking power compared to some of the more iconic expensive sets. I was really hoping we were going to get a redesigned Chewbacca but alas I don't think that will ever happen. Me too. It seems ridiculous to me that Chewie is still using the same incredibly undetailed barely printed mold! He's about a half a decade overdue for a redesign. That said I like how Leia isn't using a stupid brick for her dress. Quote
deanorth Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Really something that I'll buy, prior to the UCS xwing. Lot of good part, lot of figs, and since I'm planing an endor diorama, this will come handy. gathering money begins now:))) Quote
Faefrost Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Gorgeous set with just a few minor nitpicks. The biggest of which, and the probable show stopper me is the price. That is steep. Even worse at that piece count. I'm also a little disapointed that they put the swinging logs/hammers trap in, but no ATST. But really the main issue is the price. Quote
ZO6 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 What a beautiful set! I've had sky-high expectations for an Ewok village, and this managed to meet them. The set as a whole looks almost exactly as I'd imagined - multiple massive trees, a variety of platforms, and most of the details from the scenes in the movie. I'm not sure why, but I was hoping that there might be a couple more functions or traps. Looking at the set though, I'm not really sure what other features would make sense to be there. Perhaps just a more elaborate net trap for Han, Luke, and the others when they get caught by the Ewoks. The net that is there is small and it doesn't look like it has a crank to raise or lower it even. The price for something this substantial is pretty much to be expected, but the $300 price tag still hurts. I was hoping for a higher piece count, but that's really only because I love really long builds. I know once I pick this up and build it, I'll look at and think to myself "This was sooo worth it". Great job TLG! Glad to see a set like this being made. Quote
BrickG Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 The more I think of it the more I think I'll skip it. It's better than I thought it would be but I'm just not into "playsets". I like models. I feel like the second I started making real money they stopped all the great model sets :P. Quote
Andy D Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 (edited) Don't worry. If you just want the parts you can always buy one and give the figures to me . The word was "sell"... Andy D Edited June 1, 2013 by Andy D Quote
WhiteFang Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Amazing and finally to be able to see a brand new epic Star Wars playset! This is truly legendary and unique and we have never seen such an official design before! I am sure with the Death Star playset and Cloud City playset, this will certainly be an iconic set ever in the OT series. I am excited and elated to see this coming true and the amount of minifigs just stunned me. I am certainly looking forward to grab it! Quote
The Legonater Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 That is a gorgeous model. There's so much detail to it, it's almost the perfect set - though they missed out giving us a Endor Han Solo. However, 300 bucks? Orthanc is cheaper than that, and its a model I like a lot more. I want to get this, but this is going to be a tough nut to crack. Quote
strangely Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I was really hoping we were going to get a redesigned Chewbacca but alas I don't think that will ever happen. Yeah, I'm a little mystified that they didn't bother to update him. They could have at least updated the printing. I wish they had updated R2's printing. I don't like the current print on him, it just doesn't look right to me. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Wow. I haven't decided yet if I will buy this one since browns aren't as useful as greys when MOCing, but... wow. I was expecting one or two trees and a bridge. This is one of the best playsets TLG's done, as Anio said. Better than the Death Star, better than Cloud City, better than Home One...* Maybe the Battle of Endor playset could compare to this. *I get that the Death Star is a little harder to do because of its size, if you compare its accuracy to that of this set. Still think this one looks better, though. Maybe if 10188 was covered in plates like all those mods you see. I'm talking pleasing to look at here, not well done considering source material and price point. Long story short: Everything I've seen from Marcos Bessa is awesome. Quote
Galaxy Explorer Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I'm so in. This will be a perfect birthday present to myself. I really love playsets/bases and this one is a winner! The main village looks very similar to the Kenner playset from 1983 which is what I was hoping for back when the rumors started. This looks like it will be a fun build and great display piece. My friends will want to mess around with it- there will be Ewoks all over the floor! I'm glad there is a high amount of detail, like the rope bridges- they could have easily used the one-piece mold, but instead went for realism- very nice! And the levitating mechanism for Threepio's throne! The log trap is hilarious and horrifying at the same time- imagine your head being crushed by two logs hitting you at 20 mph. Pretty brutal those Ewoks. The amount of minifigs is very good, but I think I would have preferred to have Luke in his poncho. He wears that through most of the village scenes. The absence of any ghost characters leads me to believe that the only way we'll ever see them is in a future DK book or if any of them appear in the next Trilogy. I'm happy to see a new Biker Scout included so I can skip over the Advent Calendar this year. All in all, from what I've seen so far I'm very impressed! Can't wait to go to The LEGO Store on September 1st! Quote
Paul Boratko Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I don't recall any carrots or hot dogs in the movie version of the Ewok village... This is a FANTASTIC set though... Quote
drdavewatford Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Have to say I'm delighted to see all the positive comments about this set, on this thread and also on other forums. Hopefully this will translate into strong sales of the set once released, and LEGO will be encouraged to give us more brave, bold, creative Star Wars sets like this rather than 'safe' remakes. I'm still amazed at the level of detail - awesome ! As others have said, all that's missing is a nice AT-ST..... D. Quote
Darthluke824 Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 Wow! Thats my birthday present sorted! That is really nice. Can't wait! Nice work designers! Quote
