His hand is black in this set because he's wearing a black glove, which he puts on after leaving Tatooine (to cover the damaged area on his prosthetic hand, damaged during the very scene in which the Desert Skiff appears). He doesn't have a black hand in those earlier sets because he's not wearing the glove yet.

Sorry, I forgot about that part. I always assumed that Luke was wearing the glove after getting his "new" hand

Its my birthday on Friday and i'm getting the Death star for it (which I cant wait for  ). So hopefully I will have enough money for the Ewok village when it comes out as it isn't until September.

I think the set looks good. It's about $100 too expensive though. I'm not sure it'll have the sticking power compared to some of the more iconic expensive sets.

"Sticking power"?

I was really hoping we were going to get a redesigned Chewbacca but alas I don't think that will ever happen.

Me too. It seems ridiculous to me that Chewie is still using the same incredibly undetailed barely printed mold! He's about a half a decade overdue for a redesign.

That said I like how Leia isn't using a stupid brick for her dress.

"Incredibly undetailed"? Seriously? It's vastly more detailed than a regular, unadorned minifigure torso, and there's nothing really wrong with it. I sometimes think people want new versions of characters just to have new versions, not because any improvements are actually called for. However, I will say I could see them doing a taller version, using the same head/body element with the Toy Story Woody & Jessie-style torsos and legs. Someone around here posted a photo of a custom Chewie minifigure using those arms and legs (painted brown, of course), and it actually didn't look too bad. I don't think the body mold needs to be changed at all, though. It could perhaps use some more detailed printing, but I don't think it's really required.

I honestly dont get all the to expensive talk. It is a star wars set they are always a bit more than a similar sized set.

I don't think that's actually the case. I think people perceive Star Wars sets to be more expensive (or rather, to offer less in a set for a given amount of money) simply because they expect it, not so much because they actually are.

Long story short: Everything I've seen from Marcos Bessa is awesome.

This one certainly is. :classic::thumbup: What are some of his other sets?

Just lovely set. Trees are great, and collection of minifigs too. It`s good to see decent playset after all this ships.

But the price is on dark side...

I totally agree!

Nice minifigures, amazing trees but extremely expensive set :sceptic:

This is an amezing set and I dreamt of something like this for 12 years. I'm sad I will never get this, because it's too much for my wallet and I have not enough space to put it somewhere. But I like it very much.

Wow. This is the forestmen / elven set I have dreamed of.

Seriously though, I can only see two minor flaws. Because the 4 huts have no doors and open backs, it makes the upper trees look sort of wrong. This is cleverly hidden on the box picture. A simple removable back to each tree/hut would fix that. The other flaw is the same issue I have had with forestmen sets since I was 8 years old. Where is the generic $10-$20 tree set to buy/build a forest to hide this thing in? At the very least make those color foliage pieces available for sale. Right now the only large foliage piece available from S@H is the bright green one.

The price is actually very good when you add it all up. Almost 2000 pieces (among them at least 50 foliage pieces ) and 17 figures (counting R2). That is really good compared to most smaller sets.

I will try to get this set (if it sticks around long enough for me to save up) and I probably will convert it into an elven village. (with warrior teddy bears)

Two other Marcos sets are the Spider-Man Spider-Cycle Chase and Arkham Asylum. Don't know of others, but I'm sure we all want more!

I think I just died and resurrected. Never in my life have I been so interested in a Star wars set! This is how I like it, less spaceships and more terrestrial spaces and sceneries.

Arkham Asylum, Constitution Train Chase, some Super Heroes sets, couple polybags, and that incredibly creative Port Royal alternate build (Pirates of the Caribbean). He has pictures of all the sets he's done on his flickr, I believe.

I noticed that in one of the rooms that leia is in there is a black tile piece with a sticker to represent a book or chart of some sort. Any ideas on what the sticker could be? Plans for the Death Star or the Bunker perhaps.

As for the rumors of this set replacing the Death Star I find unfounded. The Death Star is a much bigger set than the Ewok Village, has a lot more playability and features and is a set I dont see Lego doing a remake off. Its lengthy stay on Lego`s website reflects the increase interest as well as increase sales in this set. Despite the higher price point it appeals to all. Like mentioned previously in this thread i dont see alot of kids wanting the Ewok village or non-star wars fans when there are other exclusives of similar or higher prices that will be available one example being the Lord of the Rings set.

Now if the Ewok Village was to comprise an At-st, fire work functions such as a light up brick as depicted in the ending of episode VI, Wedge and Lando, the force ghosts even if they were transparent bricks with stickers like the emperor in the imperial shuttle and an imperial landing craft so you have that added playability with Luke arriving on endor at the ending of the movie or the team landing during the beginning then i would say that the set will be worthy or replacing the Death Star. It is those additional features that are lacking in this set which doesnt have it on par with the Death Star.

Despite this the Ewok Village i believe will be here for a long time as long as sales look promising.

You're right that it doesn't stand comparision with the Death Star, but as you said, the DS is 170€ more. It's just another great set and due to the different price very difficult to compare. And regarding the Imperial Shuttle, I strongly feel we're gonna get that in 2014 with Camo Luke, Leia & Han.

In the official video from LEGO they showed us inside that hut, and on that black tile was the plans for the little hand gliders that the Ewok's flew on.

How long has 10236 been available on TLG website UK?

Just wondering as I was clicking through the pages and didn't expect it to pop up on the 2nd page of 5. Maybe nothing new, but I thought worth mentioning it anyway

Brilliant! Now I can make TLGs version of the ewok glider from those instructions!

I'll add my voice to the chorus of praise. This is a fabulous set that quite simply delivers almost everything you could ask of it (I would've said it delivers everything if I hadn't read the post about the lack of a Jedi ghost). It's an amazing combination of a great build, great figures and great play features. Well done TLG. Best Star Wars set ever? Must be a contender.

Will I buy it? Well I haven't bought the other contenders for that accolade the Death Star or Cloud City. This certainly has more potential for other uses - as others have said, it would make a great base for a Lorien or Mirkwood MOC, although when it comes to it in strictly SW terms I prefer the other 2 locations. I bought Arkham, and will be buying Orthanc, so I think the wifely reservoir of tolerance for my purchasing of massive lego sets is at risk of running dry. I'll have to plant the seeds in my kids' minds so they ask for it as their main Christmas present.

I expected more...

Are those hummers really can destroy AT-ST?! It is higher.

Not proortional.

Only three trees... Of course, if you waht a real Evok Village, of course, you need to buy more...

Where are you, Old Times?!

Yeah, I'm a little mystified that they didn't bother to update him. They could have at least updated the printing. I wish they had updated R2's printing. I don't like the current print on him, it just doesn't look right to me.

Right, not saying they need to completely change his look, but printing on his face would bring Chewie in line with what Lego is doing with other similar minifigs.
