Rick Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 There's an old topic on this from June 2013, and as far as I can remember, your points were all discussed back then. Thanks. Merged. Quote
BrickG Posted March 29, 2014 Posted March 29, 2014 I'm reading reviews. They're all negative from what I can see and for the very reasons that were obvious from the start. Dirty Lego. Missing pieces. Damaged instructions. Random non-Lego things like food in the sets. Really long shipping times that seem to average 2 weeks. And apparently when people report missing pieces they blame the person who made the report and attempt to charge them for the set at retail. There are reports of random chargers too of hundred of $$$ for no apparent reason. Then apparently their "monthly" charges are billed all at once if you sign up for multiple months. Then the whole system seems glitched up with various random stuff happening. Maybe it could become something if they get rid of the bugs... Quote
1974 Posted April 1, 2014 Posted April 1, 2014 Still a very silly idea! But someone plunged 35 million DKR (that is like 6,5 million USD!!!) into this craptastic idea Danish article : http://epn.dk/brancher/mode/leg/ECE6599922/lego-belaerer-lego-udlejer-om-regler/ Put it into google translate and you'll learn several interesting things .. jodawill Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 (edited) I've read enough bad reviews of Pley to know not to pay for the subscription. But I saw that they had a set I was interested in building, and they have a free trial (plus $2 for shipping). I thought it was a good opportunity to give it a try for myself. So I added that set to my list, and I waited. It's a common set, so I didn't expect any problems receiving it. I waited two or three weeks. Nothing happened (except a charge to my debit card). Then one day, I got an e-mail from Pley saying they'd shipped me a box of plain bricks, which was not in my listed, obviously. So I paid $2 to borrow a box of plain bricks? Seriously, what the kragle? They never even informed me the set on my list was unavailable, and they never warned me before shipping a completely random box. If they had given me a warning, I could have found something better to put on my list, or I could have asked them to cancel. I e-mailed their customer support (because I can never get a hold of them on the phone), and I told them I wasn't happy with paying $2 to borrow a box of plain bricks. They basically told me to go screw myself and I wasn't getting my money back. Also, it's been a week since they shipped it, and I still haven't received it. This company sucks. ElCrab Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 (edited) They bought a ridiculous amount of LEGO from my work. 15-40K a day for about a week. Wait, is Pley the same as Pleygo? Edited July 17, 2015 by ElCrab Quote
Kamil Z Posted July 18, 2015 Posted July 18, 2015 So what happens when somebody refuses to return the set or lets say, somehow a kid loses it. I mean, it could happen. Quote

It took 8 days from shipment to receive it. That's not very good when you're paying by the month. Returning it took just as long. So you spend more than half of the month waiting for the set to be shipped back and forth. You don't get to play with a set for half the time you're paying for. It's a really bad deal. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 2, 2015 Posted August 2, 2015 I can't believe anyone would think this would be a valid and succesful business model? "Hey let's use the Netflix borrowing model that Netflix has largely abandoned in favor of better safer profits. But we'll use it for loaning toys! Expensive toys with lots of little nondescript parts that are infamous for being lost!" Where on this planet did they find anyone stupid enough to give them investment capital? Had these investors never laid eyes on a Lego set? Quote
