How come we can't download the song "Breakout" from Hero Factory's website?

I mean, think about it. We could download Bye Bye Babylon, Gravity Hurts, Closer To The Truth, and Face Me from BIONICLE's website. So why can't we download CryoShell's Hero Factory song?

Also, what happened to Hero Factory FM?

Intresting.....Good point. HF FM was a 1.0 Thing. But You can download Breakout from iTunes.

But that costs money, unlike the BIONICLE songs. Plus, in the end of Episode 12 (the most recent one), it was explicitly stated that there would be one last episode.

"Episode 12"? What are you reffereing to?

Yeah, forget supporting the artists by actually paying them for their work. That's for chumps.

As for HF FM, that just got abandoned. The whole multimedia aspect wasn't really viable for them (Recon Team, we hardly knew ye).

Regarding "Breakout", it might be because Cryoshell is trying to promote themselves more heavily as serious musicians now. Or perhaps the "Bye Bye Babylon" EP didn't bring in much money when it was released on iTunes as well as for free (in a slightly edited version) on the BIONICLE site. Perhaps it's similar to the reason the Ninjago episodes got taken off of YouTube: media distributors don't often like releasing media on disk if people are downloading it on the internet for free, and Cryoshell doesn't want to close the door on the possibility of a future physical release for Breakout. Or perhaps Cryoshell or their recording studio just wanted to be paid an additional fee for the rights to distribute the music on the LEGO site, and the LEGO Group didn't consider that a worthwhile investment.

There are a number of possibilities, and they all inevitably boil down to money. We can't blame them — even if some musicians are fine with people downloading their music for free, many would probably be less fine with companies using their music for promotional reasons (which a free download on the Hero Factory site would definitely be) without some kind of payment in return.

Hero Factory FM's episode 12 was allegedly the penultimate episode, but here Dave Carr (the writer and voice of Nathaniel Zib in that series) describes it as a "12-episode podcast", so it's possible a 13th episode was never written or recorded. Perhaps we are supposed to assume that Mak's antics in the 12th episode got him fired or moved to a different job.

Of HF FM.

I wasn't typing saying that. I was just noting that 4 songs are available for free (not counting the time that Hero and Caught In A Dream) on BIONICLE's website, but HF can't even have 1 song.

This line is swinging more and more into it's own ways of doing things and with the closing of Bionicle Story, TLG is obviously going in completely new directions with its figure lines. Why spend money on all this supplemental material. when one 20+ minute episode, a couple of kid-books and some commercials are all you need to sell toys.

I don't like to say never, but it is extremely unlikely LEGO will ever again do a multimedia push the likes of which Bionicle saw. The media center is one more casualty, I'm afraid.

Although a comic that tells original stories for HF would be nice.

Well, TLG does give a lot of their themes a big multimedia push in their early years, particularly if they are expected to do well as "big bang" themes. Ninjago is a good example: its first year, it had chapter books, graphic novels, a 44-minute TV special, six two-minute mini-movies, and a number of web games. This is arguably even more than BIONICLE started out with: in its first year, BIONICLE didn't have any books, movies, or TV specials, instead focusing on a comic series and a web game, with a bit of additional supplementary material like a three-track music CD.

Part of what determines what multimedia components will be incorporated into a new theme is just the knowledge of what works and what doesn't. It was a while before Hero Factory got any chapter books, which may have been because with the poor sales of the later BIONICLE chapter books, The LEGO Group and Scholastic thought a book series for such a similar theme might be a bit risky. The success of the Ninjago chapter books could very well be what inspired them to give Hero Factory books a shot.

I think hero factory was supposed to be its own thing and ninjago was supposed to replace Bionicle. think about it- the elomental powers, the light VS. evil batle? sound familiar?... BTW, the hero factory secret missions may end, but the Bionicle chronicles ended and replaced with the Adventures books!!

About the multi-media thing, wouldn't it be nice if HF did some more police-y stuff or maybe more along the lines of a classic mystery story?

EDIT: To avoid this post being off-topic: why was HF FM taken off the site completely? It's not like it would have cost (much) money to keep on there.
