timmyc1983 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Hello all, Here is my modification of 3661. I started out wanting to turn it into a modular building and got rather carried away, so it is a corner modular 32 x 32. Hope you like it, and more pics available on my flickr page (link in my signature) Overall shot The top floor is the manager's office, with the bank vault next to it, of course with the key pad so only employees can enter. As you can see, lots of goodies in the vault. (Unfortunately i'm still waiting for the dark blue tiles to go on the floor) And all the floors. More pics on my flickr account (link below) and comments welcome Quote
sneff Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 (edited) Wow that is awesome! How many Bank sets did it take to build it?? Edited June 5, 2013 by sneff Quote
Hey Joe Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Hey! That's pretty cool! Thanks for sharing. Joe Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 'timmyc1983'....this is a fantastic modular......greed is good for this bank plus you used quite a few 3661 sets up or make extra stickers yourself eh ? Personally I'm more of a fan of open back designs......you might have guessed that anyway. I will now pass the same comments over on ANZFOL now.......Brick On 'timmy' ! Quote
seba123 Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Fantastic MOC, thank you for sharing, this is quite inspirational! Quote
timmyc1983 Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 Thanks for the kind comments, much appreciated Wow that is awesome! How many Bank sets did it take to build it?? 'timmyc1983'....this is a fantastic modular......greed is good for this bank plus you used quite a few 3661 sets up or make extra stickers yourself eh ? ...snip.... I used only one 3661, the extra stickers are indeed my own doing. The building all up is is 2050 bricks Quote
lightningtiger Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I wonder where the inspiration comes from for the stickers ? You can't stop now......time for a post office 'timmy' ! Quote
timmyc1983 Posted June 5, 2013 Author Posted June 5, 2013 Ahahaha yes I have to admit I have taken my sticker inspiration from you LT!!! But I didn't want to fork out for an extra 3661 and I wanted a few custom signs on the building too... Quote
Kivi Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Fantastic work timmyc1983. A very modern-looking steel-and-glass modular building that would be a perfect complement to the new 'city corner'. The interior is amazing too, especially small details such as the basin in the office and the keypad lock. The vault content is also nicely presented. Very well done! Quote
pillpod Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I like this a lot. I have a soft spot for modular banks for some reason; I wish TLG would release an official one. The dollar sign on the sidewalk is a nice touch. Quote
eurotrash Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I like the front spiral staircase surrounded by all that glass. Very impressive - although I'm not sure about the security/privacy aspects of carrying all that bullion and goodies up two flights of stairs in full view of the general public (but that's why we need all those Lego Police Stations) Joking apart it does look impressive and thanks for sharing it with us! Kristel Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 This looks great! I love how you have done the corner part with the spiral staircase. Quote
Pop Bumper Pete Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 I like it, though I think it would look better with another story added :) Quote
Xyver Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 That spiral staircase/window combination at the front is just an amazing design feature and a wonderful use of space. Great work Quote
rubberninja Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 love it :) makes me want to finish my variation. I really like the layout and the circle in the middle. Well done man! Quote
timmyc1983 Posted June 6, 2013 Author Posted June 6, 2013 Thanks for all the feedback guys glad you all like it!!! Quote

branolego Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Very nice and i love your town layout, but i must ask, where is your layout. It looks like you in a cave or something like that. Quote
Redhead1982 Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 This is an interesting design. I have two of those sets, and I'm thinking of modularising it for a few years now. The idea I have is much different from yours, so it's great to see a potential in a set to make it different. The color scheme looks fine, but it's details attracting attention. I like the rounded corner, although I'd prefer a non-transparent roof. Quote

But my layout is under the house, as the house is on slope, the sandstone foundation at the front of the house are very high and the further back you go smaller the space is. Luckily there's a nice big room at the front which I can stand in, and that's where my layout is This is an interesting design. I had a lot of trouble figuring out what to do with the roof. I didn't want to put just a standard tower on it with the rounded corner, i felt it needed something very unique to set the building apart from anything else, so i came up with the trans-clear brick idea. I'm still not entirely happy with the roof over the rounded corner, I must admit... Edited June 11, 2013 by timmyc1983 Quote

CityBuilder Posted September 5, 2014 Posted September 5, 2014 That is a wonderful bank, it has the feel of a modular building but at the same time still feels like the City bank. Quote
