May 11, 200717 yr I'm not really an Eurovision fan, but this made me angry, too. >:-( not really sure why though... *wacko*
May 11, 200717 yr not really sure why though... *wacko* I'm angry because some people (not really, it's more than just some *wacko* ) vote for specific countries for the reason that they're neighbors or something like that, thus ruining the whole contest.. *wacko* I don't know why I even bother.. :-P
May 11, 200717 yr Im not saying it because Denmark did not go to the final, but damn many of the songs that did really really SUCKED :-X Many? You mean like 99 %? Boy, I haven't heard that much crap in a long time. I haven't really bothered about the contest since... I dunno... the late 1980s? Anyway, I heard Austria's entry on the radio over and over in the past few days and I actually thought it wasn't that bad. Then I heard the other countries' entries yesterday and thought "we" had a sure place in the final cos they were just B-A-D. So bad my ears hurt. When I heard the results, though, and heard about that "East-Mafia-conspiracy" I remembered why I never bothered - and never again will... I mean, DJ Bobo is out? Come oooon... OK, not everything he makes is to everybody's taste but he's an established singer, dancer and songwriter and sells tons of albums. It's ridiculous that those 10 finalists beat him *wacko*
May 11, 200717 yr Author i really liked Austria Hobbes! i was predicting Malta,Austria,Cyprus, and Andora instead we got Latvia,Moldova,Hungary what was that all about i will NEVER get it Cyprus was an electro-gothic-pop song and she was great!! seriously pissed off (im a big fan so i take this a bit seriously thow in know i shouldnt but i loved our song) anyway the Western countries are pretty mad today and also the meditrerenian countries like greece malta and cyprus.. the only song i predicted and made it is Georgia when noone else beilived it! ( i also voted for Chezh republic but they didnt make it) the final tommorow is going to be weird..you never know who will win! it could even be latvia! ( :'-( ) (im gonna place a bet on them so i would get smth out of this terrible contest this year) any predictions on the winner?
May 12, 200717 yr That's why I liked Lordi last year. It was so over the top and un-eurovision (but it was a good song). Someone from Russia was angry about it, I f their was not such a song from Finland Russia would have won (and it was really a good song). But we know it's not about the music. @ Snefrou: Maybe the parliaments of Belgium and Holland can force their inhabitants to Vote for Eachother. What the easteuropeans can, can we better. :-P :-D This evening maybe I'm going to look for the entre-actes from finland (at the begining from last Thursday it looked like they let something see from the Kalevala (old finnish national epic poem) On a dutch commercial broadcaster is "Ali G inda House", maybe a nice alternative.

May 12, 200717 yr So what did everyone think? I think my favourite entry was Moldova's or Finland's. But the best act of the night was Apocalyptica, they were amazing!
May 13, 200717 yr So what did everyone think? I think my favourite entry was Moldova's or Finland's. But the best act of the night was Apocalyptica, they were amazing! i only saw the second half of the voting, but here belgian commentators, real eurosong fans, thought the entire voting was a joke. in the end, the started to guess what points each country would give to others, and they were very often right on target. The UK points were hilarious as well: UK got points from Ireland and Malta, two former strongholdes of the island. It shows two things really: 1) we in the west also give points to related countries 2) nationalism has corrupted the voting system the winning song isn't all that great, imo, but i guess doable...
May 13, 200717 yr What a crappy night that was! I really really (I mean really) hate Eurovision. It's purely political. Most of the songs were more than crappy. As a Turk; I think our performance was ... meh. I hate the song myself; the reason being I hate Kenan Doğulu. But looking at the other songs, 4th place was a deserved one. I also would like to say that you guys complaining about East Europe is totally non-sense. They are a part of the EU and have the right to participate. You guys might say:"Then why is Turkey in it?" and I would answer:"Dunno." Maybe because of NATO or something; not quite sure. The real question you should be asking is:"Israel?" It's far far away from Europe. Anyways, what was my point? Oh yes, Eurovision is a lame political show-off and I think I wasted my time last night.(Us giving Armenia 12 points was nothing but politics. And Serbia's singer made sick.) Take Care! -Yankı
May 13, 200717 yr 2) nationalism has corrupted the voting system Again. The UK points were hilarious as well: UK got points from Ireland and Malta, two former strongholdes of the island. I know! Didn't we do well. Second to last. *Sigh*

They're part of EU and have the right to participate"....QUE?!? QUE?!? The EU has nothing to do with the Eurovision song contest. The participants are part of Europe and I guess by now most of the old East is considered Europe along with Turkey. The Eurovision IS and will ALWAYS be NON POLITICAL. What we (the Europeans) make of it is another question. But I for one think that there should be 2 contests one for the western (culturally speaking) and another for the eastern part of Europe. - I have nothing in common with for example Moldovia and don't agree with their taste in music. Spilt it up - rebuild the Iron Curtain and reinstate Reagan. KimT
May 14, 200717 yr Spilt it up - rebuild the Iron Curtain and reinstate Reagan.KimT :-P Hmm, Reagan.... Maybe not the worst idea. I never liked his policy but compared to what we have now.... Dig him out and use the hole to put the contest in. It was enough pain in my ears for the last twentyfive years or so....

The national Turkish TV mentioned it). Anyways, you saying that Eurovision isn't political won't make a difference: it turned into one a long time ago. You're right, the contest started out as a non political one, but the people turned it into one recently. Anyways,no hard feelings, right? (Rebuilding the Iron Curtain would be awesome :P)

May 17, 200717 yr There's an MP here in the UK trying to get the government to pull out of all subsequent competitions because of the 'corrupted voting system.' In other words, he's bothered because we're not involved in any... :-D
