I would like to join a guild, but I'm not sure which one. Could someone please suggest one, based on the information below:

My Bricks

Most of them are bley and various shades of grey, but I do have quite a few green bricks and foliage, and a small number of black, white and red bricks.

My Character(s)

Currently I am choosing between a selection of characters: can I 'be' four at once? One is a classic warrior/knight type, with grey armour and a white horse. One has dark red and black ranger-style clothing and a black hood, with a bow and arrows and a dirk. The third is a female warrior in Varlyrian armour. The fourth is a brown-bearded dwarf dressed in black

My Preferences about Guilds

I think my combination of characters would work best in Kaliphlin because of the variety, but my building style is more classic castle- I'm kind of leaning towards Mitgardia or Avalonia because of this.

(I have one gold, one dark green, one dark blue and one red flag)

Thanks,

Dragonfire

Welcome to GoH.

As we have stated a few times this week to other new members, Kaliphlin isn't just desert! :) We have the most varying climate, from woodlands, to coasts, to mountains, the only thing we don't have is tundra! :)

You can be four characters, one should be your main though, or your "Sig fig" -- signature fig. Many of us have 3 or 4 characters.

After this post, I really think we need a newbie guide... I guess I know what I am doing this afternoon to procrastinate my work.

I would say Nocturnus :classic: You got some good bricks for it and some really interesting minifigs :classic:

Also you got their flag

edit: I am a Kaliphlian, so this is an objectif opinion :classic:

well lets put it this way. Mitgardia is classic style as well, but it has more dwarven influences, and therefore great masons. On the other hand, Mitgardia's style is a bit more straight than Avalonia's. Kaliphlin sometimes is everything, at least they claim so.

You can definetely build Mitgardia without a single white piece as our south looks more like southern scandinavia/germany. Avalonia is more like Birtain and Ireland. So the differences aren't that big.

What I've noticed though is the depiction of non humam characters differs between the guilds, sometimes even considerably. So Mitgardia has most dwarves, Avalonia most elves and Kaliphlin geenies and mummies. Nocturnus is more about orcs and the likes. So I'd advise you to decide on that base, and of course to join Mitgardia anyway!

You have both Nocturnus and Kaliphlin flags. I haven't built too much in bley yet but that is the majority of my collection and is what my homebase is built with (still in progress). Your pieces sound like they would work perfectly in Kaliphlin's Witherwoods or even in some jungle on the coast.

Avalonia sounds like the place for your collection.

We need some new members too.

Honestly, I can see all four of your characters fitting well in any of the guilds. Your collection does sound more like Avalonia/Mitgardia but as others have said, you could still use them well in the other guilds. Avalonia and Mitgardia are very similar as far as parts go, they have more foliage and we have more snow and mountains. That ranger of yours would sure be cool in Nocturnus though...

As others have said you can have multiple characters, but one of them should be your sig fig. As to what guild to join, go with whatever appeals to you most. Looking at some of the MOCs from each guild might help you decide, here is the index. I'm sure any of the guilds will be more than happy to have you join :classic:

Any of the guilds would be delighted to see you join. All the guilds are great so it doesn't really matter. But Kaliphlin is the best and your characters would fit in very well

I have an idea. Could my characters be a travelling group with allegiances to more than one guild? And could I join Kaliphlin, for example, and build MOCs without any sand or sandy bricks?

You can build for example in North Kaliphlin, which has a lot more vegetation than the dry south :classic: In the far East, you got the Rakathmountains, which is rocky. And in the far West of Kaliphlin, you got the woods :classic:

I fear you still have to find one Guild to pledge allegiances. But ofcourse, you can be friends/allied with the other Guilds :classic: (as long as you are loyal to your own Guild ofcourse  )

You are required to pick a single guild but your characters could be friendly to any or all of the other guilds. And yes there are places in Kaliphlin where there isn't any "sand" required. Witherwoods would be one example. Also the Rakath mountain range would be another. Or even one of Kaliphlin's many jungles.

OK, I probably will join Kaliphlin, but my characters will also have ties to Varlyrio, Nocturnus and maybe Mitgardia.

Most of us do, since we are a guild of merchants and adventurers mostly. Welcome aboard.

Sounds like true Kaliphlins! Where there is possibility for prosperous trade or adventures we will go :)

Seeing as just about every new member is going to Kaliphlin why not join another guild?

If I remember correct, Str0ngbad and Yooha recently joined Mitgardia, while Wedge and Cablefoxy recently joined Avalonia :classic:

Only Nocturnus has been left out again, that's why I tried to push Dragonfire to that Guild :classic:

Ofcourse, I will be more than happy if he joined Kaliphlin

Well, i will be joining Nocturnus soon, but i am more of a minifig customizer than a MOCer.

We need those (so you) as well :classic: You always can present them on 8x8 bases :classic:
