That's ok. You can use blue crownies as your troops( as a regional color) , just try to have the Avalonian colors( sand and dark green) somewhere, preferably on your flags or standards( these don't have to be the standard flag piece, it can also be brick built as well.

It nice to see new recruits for Avalonia!

About the AFOL/FFOL discussion:

I am not sure I think we should be concerned about attracting a specific gender of "FOL's" - but most of the points raised here are relevant for any "FOL" out there. And a lot of people do seem to think GoH requires a very high initial skill level, and that the whole world is very hard to fathom. Maybe a short introduction post could be made and stickied, only including the absolute necessities for joining.

Something like: A basic overview of the setting and general guidelines, a quick intro of the 4(/5) Guilds (just a few lines about each), and the requirements for joining each of them.

Maybe a community effort could make this come to life - one from each guild could volunteer to fill in an agreed template for the guild, and someone else for Historica as a whole?

Thoughts on this? Do we already have this?

Hello i would like to join Avalonia but i dont have the figures displayed in the Avalonia thread.

Will it be a big problem?

I currently have figs with blue lions and blue crown symbols.

Hi Dzidek,

You are not required to have any specific form of minifigures to join. Your sig fig can look however you want, and so can your soldiers. As long as you stay within the current setting, or atmosphere, of the guild.

If possible, you can display the guild colours (sand green and dark green) in your builds, for instance as a standard/flag, or similar.

Hope to see you joining our Glorious Guild! :sweet:

Um... isn't that what this thread is supposed to be? :look::grin: Likely it could be made a touch more user-friendly (more indents, larger fonts for the headings, put the edit log at the bottom, etc.), and could also have a brief run down of the GoH history - speaking of which, what would that be anyways? Some guy named Victor Revolword tried to take things over and failed miserably. However, he did succeed in killing off Historica's King and plunging the guilds into dire confusion. So, enter Book II, where each guild, by way of bringing in some order to the chaos, had a civil war and now things are more messed up than ever!

Edit: Also it is missing the quick run down about each guild. But that wouldn't be hard to put together.

Like; Kaliphlin, land of the hot sands. Land of parched and burning deserts and roaming nomads. Towards the western and southern coasts salty breezes filter in, until you hit the ocean itself. Turn North, and meet the wooded area of Eastgate (wait, I'm all confused. Aren't we on the western coast? Never eat soggy waffles. Oh, okay. So never mind, we turned toward the eastern and southern coast.), slowly merging into Avalonia. Turn South, and wet your feet in the boggy marshes or take a boat ride out to the island of Gorr. Or, if you want to get into some hot water, take a vacation at the disputed island of Al Esterbroke. Head West for the under-explored region of the Rakath Mountains, and beyond that, the secluded bays and inlets bordering and the ocean. Up just a little higher and you start to step on dangerous ground, where pumpkin pies just might gobble you up. Turn around and come right back as soon as you catch a glimpse of that Nocturnus sign!

Right in the center lies Kaliphlin's glorious capital - Petraea.... etc.

Actually, that was getting a little long, and I haven't even got to the great escarpment and Ulandus. (Kaliphlin is pretty big!) Neither have I really delved into anything but geography. And so far it's probably been pretty confusing, unless like me you've memorized the map! Perhaps geography should be left out of the rundown?

On the other hand, I would imagine that most if not all potential joiners would read the guild topics, or at least the topic of the guild they lean to. So maybe a description of each one is not necessary in the new member's guide?

I also use some Blue crownies, and ude Blue as my peronal colour, and Green as the Avalonian colour.

Anyway: you're very welcome ik the guild!

Thanks guys, i will try to make a photo of my character soon and post it :)

Oh one more question, what if i get a cool new torso or a cape for my char, can i then update his looks?

As said before: sure you can. I don't know a minifigure wearing the same clothes his whole life!

About the new members: i support Bregir's idea: we really need to summarise things and make clear where you can find them. I propose Kai's entry combined with links to the first page of the guild threads, the storyline thread and the a short summarise on how to get started. The post should be very clear about ongoung challenges, 'cause when i started, i only found information about book one, or the results of the dwarven-challenge, but everyone talked about the kaliphlin challenge, ulandus, the HC and the DK. That was very confusing.

Yes i confirm it's a challenge to get familliar with the rules, etc.

Altough you have pinned the important threads new people like me still tend to miss out on some basic stuff. Like what to do after i join? Just freebuild or do some tasks? That sort of stuff.

Well right now there aren't any challenges going on, so you can freebuild a bit, maybe tell us a bit more about your character. Don't forget you can register them

Eh...What is this "them" you are talking about? What can we register?

Actually, I think TitusV was referring to your freebuilds, for which we have a register thread so that the guild leaders don't miss them. Though it isn't discussed much now, there is such a thing as guild points. Freebuilds and challenge builds are evaluated and awarded points that are added to your respective guild total.

I was talking about freebuilds, but you can register your characters too

Really? Please tell me more! Is there a thing to keep track of created characters and their backstories?

I wa just thinking of the guild threads, but since people are so enthousiast about a thread were one can register it's characters, maybe someone should create such a thread, were there's one post per character, and in that post you should post it's name, backstory, a picture... And every time the character pops up in a build, you can edit the post and a give it a link to the build. So one can easily keep track of all the characters involved in historica.

A great way of preventing the loss of lore over time in the hundereds of threads. Perhaps it should be just one post with all characters of a certain GoH member, containing indeed a photo and a small, summarized backstory for each character. Anyway, count me in for this brilliant idea! :classic:

We should propose this to a GoH admin.

I think that is a great idea.

My only concern is what do you do if you have multiple registered characters? By that, I mean other important characters besides your actual main character.

I don't see the problem with registering secondary characters, but certainly, one should not register every character that has a name. I think that it can get complicated when doing sigfig cameos in your build (of semi-importance). In which post will it be registered, for instance?

I do not necessarily mean every little character you include in builds. I mean important characters like a General, a Scribe, a King, etc. I was thinking there could be maybe a seven side character limit, at most, that can be registered. I plan to do so when the time comes.

In theory, the first page of each guild thread has at least the names (Avalonia I think has a bit of backstory too) of most people, but of course that gets out-of-date as it really is too hard for one person to keep track of everything. Having everyone post their own bio is not a bad idea I suppose; that's pretty much what LoR has, but I do wonder who on earth would read it all. Also since we didn't start with that it might be impractical to add it now.

For the sixth Book I challenge (I think?) I did a list of everyone to help with the storylines for that challenge. I'm not sure how useful it really was, but if anyone wants to see it, here it is. Of course, it's quite out of date now. I might have kept it up though, if it weren't for the fact that at one point about half of the first post got eaten and I didn't have a back up. :hmpf_bad: That sort of took away my incentive!

I disagree with you in the regard that it is "too late" to add such a thing. What I was thinking would be that it is its own thread and placed in that box with the guilds. I should also mention that some of those older threads should be taken down too since those events happened quite some time ago. I do like that players should give their characters biographies about them but to keep it maybe with the bullets for key information about them. Myself and many others could go on and on about information about the characters so I think keeping the information at a minimum is key.

I like the Idea of having a place for everyone's characters; it would be great to be able to follow particular characters' stories more easily.

Before I joined I read a lot of posts, and it was the individual characters and their adventures that made me want to participate. Good idea
