Hi everybody :D

For the past while I've really enjoyed reading about all your adventures in Historica, and marveled at the amazing builds you all create. I've always been a huge fantasy fan, and have rekindled my love for lego over the past couple of years from introducing it to my five year old son. Now I have a bit more time for hobbies, I think it's time to join the cause.

I've always got ideas for stories and characters popping up in my head and am guilty of spending far too long day-dreaming about knights, castles, magical forests, dragons and elves! It would be nice to have a creative outlet for them, although I worry my building skills will not be able to do them justice! I know I don't come close to the building skill of you guys, but I'm really keen to learn and improve and have bags of enthusiasm.

So, if you'll have me, I would love to pledge allegiance to one of your mighty guild :D

Don't worry about your building skills, they're likely to improve quickly, and we welcome any builders new or veterans. Plus, we'd love to see your stories come to life in LEGO :classic:

We'd be glad to have you! :classic:

That be, if you'd join Avalonia  no, you're very welcome here, and believe me: your skills will be skyrocking!

Looking forward to your builds and stories!

Give yourself time, ixypixy, building skill will come. The best advice I can give is to not let a Lego set's theme determine its parts usage. I once used Duplo bricks in one of my favorite GoH builds. An upcoming one will be using Duplo and Chima constraction figure parts.

Hope to see your work around the boards.

As they say, practice makes progress, so just start somewhere and I'm sure you'll improve! Welcome to the guilds and be sure to join Kaliphlin! :sweet::laugh:

Don't worry about your skills. Practise is the key...

You're very welcome to join us in Avalonia ;) or every other Guild but be sure that Avalonia is the best because we are encouraging elves to ride dragons... :D

Thanks guys, for the warm welcome! I am so excited to get involved and to get to know you all. I'm away on holiday for the next week, so I'm going to go and work on my sig character and story. I need to sort through the ideas floating around in my head, and decide which could work and which are just plain cuckoo! :D. Then I'll see what guild he/she might fit into best.

I was wondering, when you do decide upon a guild, how do you settle in a particular area? Is it allocated to you or can you choose. If you can choose, then is there an up-to-date borders map for Historica. I don't want to invade anyone's lands by accident :D Also are the regions that people get, considered kingdoms in their own right or more like fiefs for the guild's capital?

Choosing land in Avalonia is a little more formal than the other guilds. You get to outline your land from the map on the first page of the avalonian sign up thread. In the other guilds some members have chosen settlements and their rough placement on the guild maps, but those maps get updated less often. You can call your region and its ruler what you want, but even if you're king of your smaller kingdom, you're still considered to be ruled by your guild, as well as the king of historica.

In Nocturnus, common characters include tribal leaders, dark mages and warlords. Claiming a territory can be very vague, like 'somewhere in the Moruth Swamplands', since borders are hard to defend in the Darklands and do not extend much further than the walls of the fortress, town or city. That's why it's a fairly common thing for a Nocty builder to have his/her own city, like Shadowmere, Kyrrath, Skavenport, etc. be it a place to rule, or just to call home.

Whatever guild you choose, joining GoH is an excellent place to master the ways of the brick!

Like Milo said, Avalonia is the most strict? organized? :look: guild on the subject of picking lands. It has a pretty well updated map with all the little claims the different tree-huggers have made.:tongue: In Kaliphlin, it's mostly just that a few people have started their own towns here or there. I actually think most of those are on the latest map... if I could find the latest map. Looks like the one on the front page is the latest. There are also several close ups however; here, here, here, here, here, here. Anyhow, there are lots of little spots left in Kaliphlin. Mitgardia is similar, and also has a fairly updated map I think. The same with Nocturnus.

Haha !

We are not strict... We just want everybody is at the good place. It's probably to avoid someone chopping down the wrong trees to build a city ;p :D

and... Yes ! We love trees ! :D

Too bad you don't have some in your sandy lands, Kai ! ;p

Kaliphlin doesn't have trees? What about the wither woods!

The southern part near the inland sea is definitely Kaliphlin, I've even started a town/city there! I think that counts as claiming to for Kaliphlin. :sweet: I think the far northern part is Avalonia, though most of it is Kaliphlin.

I feel the first challenge of the third book coming!

That would be fun, though I don't know if it would justify a whole challenge, maybe a mini challenge would be a good idea.

We should propose that to the leading team

Posted

Maybe, that team isn't assembled yet, I am still missing an Avalonian and a Mitgardian.

Well, I didn't mean the team for the summer joust, but the leading team of GoH (Ska, rogue, ZC,...)...
