Exetrius Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 already read all of your saga actually haven't commented there because I didn't wanna dig up old stuff, so good that you've given me the chance to do so here - I loved it, honestly. can't wait to read (and look at) the rest. I was particularly impressed by the fact that you manage to keep every episode complete yet pretty short: that's gonna be a problem for me . in the same way, I've appreciated the small builds. Loved the scene with the half-sabre-tooth tigers and Deliora.. purrrr lol Oh wow, that's quick! And I had fun writing that scene. It was a bit of an experiment, so it's nice to hear you liked it. I think an episode should have a healthy amount of 'flesh' to it, but I don't want to take to much of people's free time. Anyway, my saga will continue soon! Quote
mccoyed Posted August 15, 2016 Posted August 15, 2016 Hey guys. Long time. I recently got back into my Lego after almost a year of creative block, busy life stuff, and so on. I have returned to AG and would also like to return to GoH, my original role-building home. That said, I wanted to ask some stuff about the state of things and actually some general EB related stuff. Hopefully this is an appropriate place. So for starters, what stories have been happening on GoH? I know the Algus saga was probably the main story happening after the latest chapter of Book 2, but I am very surprised that there's been no new chapter in all these months. Where are things at with the big picture story of GoH? It looks like most builds posted are not GoH specifically, or are Age of Mitgardia/Doctorate of Petraeus type stuff, or are personal sagas being continued. Related to EB in general, I have noticed that I can't find my old builds and stories by searching my content (topics). I wanted to read through all my GoH history and my AG history to help get back into things, but it only goes back a year. Is there any way to find my old build threads? Quote

I can't help you on the search limit thing (I tried, but couldn't get it done myself), but I can with the GoH stuff. New folks are still joining and enthusiastically writing new sagas, quite some experienced members (and half of Nocturnus, too) seem to be less active at the moment. More on sagas and what happened in this post of mine, on the previous page. Other than that, no announcements for Book III have been made. (Some five months ago, I thought it was almost happening, since MassEditor had this promising preview on Flickr, but nothing since then) Anyway, I don't really mind the long time for freebuilds, as I still have plenty of story material up my sleeve! Kai NRG Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 @mccoyed, I always follow topics I start. If you've done that, it's a handy way to find your stuff (provided you don't follow a whole bunch of other threads as well). Quote
mccoyed Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I do follow my own threads. How do you find those? I will have a look! Quote
Kai NRG Posted August 17, 2016 Posted August 17, 2016 I do follow my own threads. How do you find those? I will have a look! In the tab that opens up when you click your name at the top there's an option that says "Content you follow." That should help you out. Quote

The Maestro Posted August 19, 2016 Posted August 19, 2016 (edited) What happensin a challenge? I've never seen one in action and want to prepare myself if a challenge is coming to the guilds. Edited August 19, 2016 by The Maestro Quote
Umbra-Manis Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 What happensin a challenge? I've never seen one in action and want to prepare myself if a challenge is coming to the guilds. Well basically, we crank the activity level of the GoH forum by about 200% (not a precise fact) with lots of trash talking, petty arguments and crazy amounts of builds. It's a lot of fun! Quote
The Maestro Posted August 20, 2016 Posted August 20, 2016 Well then, sounds like fun and hope we get one soon :D Quote

en_zoo Posted August 22, 2016 Posted August 22, 2016 hey guys, sorry to change topic, but I'd like some input from you about which Guild to choose [yes, the moment has come]. So here you have my thoughts so far: 1 - all the Guilds are awesome, so no preference here. 2 - given the architectural and landscape style I'm interested in building right now, I'd lean to Avalonia [classic EU middle age and especially forests at the moment], but 3 - the story I have in mind for my character doesn't fit at all with the Avalonian principle of claiming land. 4 - though I do intend to expand my collection, I also intend to stick to forests for a while and I have no bricks available for, say, snow, desert or swamps. --> a) is there a way I could be an Avalonian without claiming any land [at least for a long while]? b) alternatively, is there an area with forests (can't find it on the map) that is part of another Guild, but possibly close to the Avalonian border so that I could have my character appear there but then travel through Avalonia? Is this even possible/allowed? c) any other useful suggestions about all this? thanks in advance for your time guys! Quote

Is this even possible/allowed? c) any other useful suggestions about all this? thanks in advance for your time guys! I know some Avalonians have foregone claiming land and have essentially "pledged fealty" to another builder's little fiefdom, but they are the exception that proves the rule. Avalonians are expected to build in a certain area that is theirs in some way, whether it be a land claimed as their own or a small settlement in someone else's lands. So you do not necessarily have to claim lands on the map, but you do in some way have to build up a certain, and relatively exclusive to you, area. At least that is my take on it. Being from Avalonia, I know we have the best forests and are particularly known for both the quantity and the quality of our trees. However, I know that all four guilds have forests in some way or another. Mitgardia has nearly endless pine forests wherever there are not mountains, glaciers, or the far-north frozen tundra; Kaliphlin (in the north) is much like southern Avalonia and has some nice hardwood forests, and the mountains in the east certainly have trees too; and Nocturnus has as many different types of forests as there are builders present there, some sentient and evil, others relatively benign and "standard" trees. I hope that helps. And even if you choose one guild, there is nothing preventing you from building somewhere else or having your sigfig visit other places for extended periods of time; in fact, such things are actually encouraged, especially now with all of the factionalism and inter-guild alliances due to the civil wars. Is this even possible/allowed? c) any other useful suggestions about all this? thanks in advance for your time guys! a) You can absolutely be a member of Avalonia without claiming territory. Although Most members tend to claim lands you are given a lot of freedom to do whatever you want. You have almost absolute creative freedom, you could rule a "fief" like many Avalonians, or just make up you own town for your character to live in even if they dont rule it, or they could be adventurers/wanderers and always be traveling to new places. You could even have your character always traveling around and have most of your builds set in other guilds. You can do pretty much whatever you want as long as you can build it( and as long as you don't claim to be omnipotent or claim half of Avalonia as your lands or claim to be the king of all Historica etc) b) The wither woods of Kaliphlin are right next to the Avalonian border. While this is mostly correct, I would just like to add that it's not "expected" that you build your own area, it is just what most members choose to do and it is encouraged as part of the optional tasks, but it is not required. Fair enough. It may not be officially "expected" (or rather required), but I think that most of us "expect" it to happen nonetheless. Quote
