Now i'm pissed. The frontpage needs to do something HF related.

Patience is a virtue bro.

Just as Bacem said when voting starts, then there shall be something on the front page.

But if its not there by tomorrow or the next day I might just lose my cool, lol.

Ah, chill, people. As far as I can tell, it's just Brickeens running the show round these parts. It's tough enough doing a one-man gig. It'll get done when it's ready; I'd rather wait for a finished product than get a half-baked peace offering now.

I thought Nick was running it, considering he started all the official topics, etc.

to be honest, i'm slightly concerned with that "about a day" promise, but getting angry here won't get us anywhere, except leave a bad taste in my mouth. besides, i agree with dorek. i'd rather wait a little longer to get properly finished product. there are so much entries. it might be pretty hard to organize all of them.

i'm sorry but my rock raider month idea sill looks a lot better (i'm sorry guys but I can"t let that idea go  )

plus the hero factory fans are getting mad, I don"t think people get how long it takes to do a month like this, or to get stuff when then is one person doing this. Give then time people! and stay cool :classic: (plus I need to get some rest so see u guys later :sadnew::classic: )

The problem here is that he hasn't been online since the 10th, which is, I believe, the time he closed the topic. If he was organizing them, I would expect him to be online to do so.

Haha, did I say Brickeens? Silly me, meant Brickthing.

Doesn't really help when the constraction line is often looked down upon. Jokes aside, your Rock Raider suggestion exemplifies that.

Regardless, there's not much discussion that can resolve the issue. I'm content with waiting until the polls.

ok polls matter aside, where are the rest of the review? so far, the review we got are: eris, cragger, stormer, jet rocka, and accessory pack. there are still 9 figures haven't reviewed yet. i think we are promised with reviews of all of them before the month ended?

Posted (edited)

It was said there would be reviews, and there were a few, but a specific number was not given. Now will all you whiners, as few as you are, please calm down?

The whole focus of HF Month was primarily the contests. The reviews are an afterthought at best. Why complain when things are going as they should?

Reviews!

Thanks to the support of LEGO, over the course of the month we'll be reviewing all of the Hero Factory and Chima 2nd half sets, as well as looking at the theme waves and Constraction theme as a whole. Watch this space for links as they come...

well I don't love hero factory, but rock raiders did things that later lines would use like light-up bricks, comic books and a good story and don't forgot a videogame. I love some parts of bionicle and hate some, hell a bionicle was my first Lego set  . but Lego bricks are what I like the most but I respect construction lines and fans of construction lines, also the rock raider line needs more respect rock raiders did things that time Lego never did before so lots of lines can be traced back to rock raiders, sure some sets might be bad but every line has bad sets (I know other lines used light-up bricks but rock raiders used them a lot more them other lines) Edited by homemade sciencefiction

I love some parts of bionicle and hate some, hell a bionicle was my first Lego set  . but Lego bricks are what I like the most but I respect construction lines and fans of construction lines, also the rock raider line needs more respect rock raiders did things that time Lego never did before so lots of lines can be traced back to rock raiders, sure some sets might be bad but every line has bad sets (I know other lines used light-up bricks but rock raiders used them a lot more them other lines)

Rock Raiders was not the first theme to have light-up bricks or comics. It had a rudimentary story, primarily as a foundation for the video game, but not one quite as developed as later themes like BIONICLE, Knights' Kingdom, or Exo-Force would have. You ARE correct in that it was the first theme to have a video game of its very own, though (LEGO Racers was not based on any one theme, and in fact the theme of racing sets was not named "LEGO Racers" until AFTER that game). That was groundbreaking.

Overall, the main things I think Rock Raiders had going for it were its tone and aesthetic. Instead of wearing uniforms, the Rock Raiders characters were (pardon the cliché) a ragtag bunch of misfits, with each having a particular skill set. This paved the way for later themes like Alpha Team, where although the characters would have uniforms, they would also have specialized skills and would be put in command of different vehicles according to those skills. Additionally, the theme had a remarkably gritty aesthetic. Browns and greys were the dominant colors in each set's color scheme, and they were balanced out with bright yellow and bright bluish green bricks to keep the sets from looking boring or dingy. The sets were pure science-fantasy, including the largest vehicle which used propellors rather than jet engines as were more common in sci-fi themes. Having seen some Rock Raiders prototypes and concept art in The Ultimate LEGO Book, I found that theme's creative development truly compelling and greatly enjoyed the theme.

The issue with a Rock Raiders month is that typically, theme months on Eurobricks are focused on a current theme or a category that a current theme falls into. Perhaps if there's another underground series of sets like Power Miners, Rock Raiders, or the LEGO City mining subtheme, Eurobricks could do an "Underground Month", but currently there's not much news or hype to build excitement around Rock Raiders.

Anyway, I'm beginning to think some people are taking these "theme months" a bit too seriously. Certainly I was hoping we'd have more reviews by now, but if there have been delays then there's really not much that can be done about that. Perhaps Hero Factory Month will be extended, or perhaps just the particular content that the moderators haven't gotten around to will be posted after the theme month has ended. In the meantime, there's been quite a bit of Hero Factory discussion, a handful of new reviews, and of course these contests, which will surely enter the voting phase before too long. So let's just be patient.

A few days ago, as keeping with his... tradition of getting everything in last-minute, he was online briefly over on MOCpages to post a contest entry five minutes before the deadline, but hasn't showed up since then.

Okay, who let Homemade in here?

That put aside, I'm gonna be the one who actually waits until something interesting sparks up around here. If what Chro said about Brickthing having a last minute tradition, then we'll expect everything to be thrown in one huge pile package on the last day. That includes voting.

Apologies all for the delay  - I've been caught up with work commitments and preparation for a local LEGO show, so I haven't been able to finish preparing the polls. They're almost complete, so they will be up by Friday at the latest, and I will extend the month and voting duration accordingly to give everyone enough time to vote.

Hey,

I'm not a regular here, so feel free to ignore me, but I just wanted to put in a word as an admin on another forum (Classic-Castle). Guys, you just need to relax a little. People who run LEGO contests, forums, blogs etc also have lives - classes, jobs, families, etc all take precedence. We don't spend 24/7 on our hobby, and running contests/forums/blogs takes a lot of time. It's not the end of the world if voting happens a few days later than you expected.

well I guess I let my self in  and we do need a some form of underground month based on rock raiders and power miners or classic space month( I love Lego space  I just got a solar snooper from amazon, still in box and I want no need a inter-galactic command base in box I have"t found one that's not 200-300 dollars :cry_sad: but I won"t give up! and don't use eBay why? eBay rips people off all the time. I only use amazon and other sites if I buy old Lego sets online and PayPal is a ripoff like eBay so I can"t use bricklink or brick owl plus my mom won't me let use PayPal :hmpf_bad: ) fiy I am 17 so that's that)
