Erynlasgalen Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Welcome, welcome... The Kaliphlin Tourist Agency is happy to have you along for our journey around the lands. You can throw away your coats now as we head down to the southern coast to explore the mysterious and oftentimes dangerous* Qar-Akhen Marshes. We hope you are enjoying your journey so far, so just sit back and relax and listen to the soothing melody of the Golden Arrow Frogs for a moment. Just remember to not touch, eat, lick or otherwise come in contact with them. Please come back tomorrow when we will present a new location for your enjoyment! *The Kaliphlin Tourist Agency is not liable for any mishaps, injuries or deaths sustained while touring. Tourists are encouraged to take the necessary precautions to avoid such mishaps and heed all warnings given by your guides. Edited June 30, 2013 by Erynlasgalen Quote
Infernum Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Wow! I love the rock spire things! The frogs are a really nice detail. Love the ravens too! Quote
Captain Nemo Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) Looks very nice! I love the rock-work behind the trees (Which also look good), and the frogs and birds stand out nicely (I'll have to remember not to lick them if I'm in the area). I am however waiting to see a desert area--because I think we all know you can't show Kaliphlin without the image everyone actually thinks of when they hear Kaliphlin. Kayne Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Looks great Eryn! The rock that seems to have been carved over ages in the swamplands look fantastic here! Nemo-There will be sand, however we are trying to show off the lesser known areas of Kaliphlin on this tour, so there will be a lot of noon-sand builds coming your way! Quote
Erynlasgalen Posted June 19, 2013 Author Posted June 19, 2013 Thanks everyone! I am however waiting to see a desert area--because I think we all know you can't show Kaliphlin without the image everyone actually thinks of when they hear Kaliphlin. We at the Agency wanted to give everyone a taste of the Kaliphlin they wouldn't normally see otherwise since we are so much more than just desert! Never fear though! After we are done, you will be finding sand for weeks in your boots, clothes, hair, camping supplies, beer, ect... Quote
robuko Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 As always Eryn, very impressive! I love the mushrooms, hope the birds won't eat the frogs. Your editing skills are so sharp! How do you get such crisp edges on these notoriously difficult pieces? Great build Quote
Rolli Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Lovely ravens and vegetation! This series keeps getting better and better! Quote
Kai NRG Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Great job! The swamp and plants are very nice and I like those birds as well! And the jutting rocks work very well! ...We at the Agency wanted to give everyone a taste of the Kaliphlin they wouldn't normally see otherwise since we are so much more than just desert! Never fear though! After we are done, you will be finding sand for weeks in your boots, clothes, hair, camping supplies, beer, ect... Too funny! Quote
kabel Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 yet another creation in your tourism series. Well played Kaliphlin! What I really like about this, is that there is a frame around all these freebuilds. They belong together, way more than our freebuild attack. As for this creation, awesome vegetation! I really have become a sucker for well build landscapes, so this moc also excites me quite a bit! Quote
Kayne Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 yet another creation in your tourism series. Well played Kaliphlin! What I really like about this, is that there is a frame around all these freebuilds. They belong together, way more than our freebuild attack. Kai deserves a lot of credit for this. She is the one that gathered us all up with the idea for this. It evolved a bit over the course of discussion in the group, but Kai really came up with the tourism idea. It was such a great idea, that none of us wanted to change that part at all! Quote
Gideon Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Great build, portraying a part of Kaliphlin I have longed to see (or build)! Those mushrooms are just perfect! Your description of the frogs is also top notch Quote
Wedge09 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Great  I like in particularly the birds and the rocks Quote
Mike S Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Excellent work! Love the rocks and trees as they add a lot more to the landscape than the barren salt marshes I had been picturing. Also great description for the frogs! Quote
SkaForHire Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Excellent swamp!!! Your rock work is perfect, and I love all the frogs running around :) Your rocks are outstanding, and I like the foreboding feel the scene has, but still uses mostly lighter colors to give it. Quote
soccerkid6 Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 I've been waiting for your contribution and it definitely didn't dissapoint! The trees look great as does your mushroom design The rocks spires give a unique feel and I like all the frogs you scattered in the build Quote
Maxim I Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 Yeah, that place is called by the locals: "Kali Nocturnus" You really have to watch out your steps there Oh, also, a guy with a black mask that looks like a ninja and with a spear in his hands, dancing around funny, is not a local there, it is just an I.A.M.S.-member trying to catch a Golden Frog as their poison is really effectif Eryn, this is really a fantastic MOC!! It kinda looks idyllic! Quote
Nightstalker Posted June 19, 2013 Posted June 19, 2013 (edited) I really like the nice eerie feel of this place. Ironically, this is exactly where I'm headed, so thanks ahead of time for the inspiration. Nice MOC  Edited June 19, 2013 by Nightstalker Quote
TheLegoDr Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Looks great. Yet another fun and interesting build. I like this tourism idea. I really like the mushroom plants. The rockwork looks good. The trees are large and impressive. The animals are a nice touch. Keep up the great work everybody. Quote
Captain BeerBeard Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 You used my predarkage tree technique! Seeing that took my mind back twenty-five years. Being a thirty-one year old afol, I'm not a fan of this tree style. The shrooms seem to work pretty good. I tried that a while back and was not happy with them but they work when I see'em in your moc's. I like your rocks here. They really add a sense of mystery to the scene. They make you use your imagination and wonder how they came to be. Build more! Quote
de Gothia Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Lovely build! I love those shrooms! Great technique! And those yellow frogs really add to the whole scenery! Some tips: Try to take some photos from above so you can see the moc from a different angle. You can see the tan baseplate under the whole moc. If you lay your bricks/plates one stud out from the baseplate it will disapear! :) Quote
Ecclesiastes Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Great job, I really like the colors on this one. The brown of the trees mixed with the grey of the rocks and the contrast of the yellow frog. It looks all very nice! Quote
Gabe Posted June 24, 2013 Posted June 24, 2013 Another sweet build - those mushrooms look great massed like that, and the frogs add a nice dash of bright colour. I'd love to have seen a higher angle on this build. I'm not 100% convinced by the trees however - i would have thought they'd look more mangrove-like (bulbous at the base, with thicker, hanging foliage) so far south? The rockwork is appropriately foreboding though for such a mysterious destination! Quote
ZCerberus Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Reminds me very much of your challenge VI build. I do like those crazy mushroom things! I would love to see an angle that is a bit higher up to get a feel for the whole MOC though. Quote
Str0ngbad Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Like many have already said, I really like the curious rocks in this scene. I also would have liked to see the build from a higher angle as I feel like there are probaby details I'm missing. The mushrooms are a great touch and I had been contemplating how to build ravens for a build I'm working on so thanks for solving that for me. Now I just hope I can find some black plumes... Quote
PenPlays Posted June 30, 2013 Posted June 30, 2013 Quite an excellent display of wildlife. I had no idea such a place existed in Kaliphlin. Very nice MOC! Quote
