So we've gone through the whole gamut of community builds from the movies and then some.

Now it's time to take on new challenges, let's all hear what new ideas/concepts that we can build MOCs about.

Remember this is NOT a contest, just another way of building MOCs together. What say you?

PS. Please don't mention Steampunk or ugly ships(mish-mash of Rebel/Imperial ships) as those have been done before.

The Star Wars Staff is actually already working on something very similar to this, and we've gotten a couple ideas over PM, such as building using only the pieces in a certain set. (Thanks, Bob De Quatre.)

Just as a reminder, this discussion is fine, but any members discussing this shouldn't start any challenges/builds without getting approval from the Star Wars Staff first. Thanks! :classic:

I thought that it might be fun to have a Cloud City Community Build, there's so many different scenes to choose from....ok I'm probably a little biased

i) Falcon & Landing scene

ii) C-3PO being de-constructed

iii) Chewie finding bits of said C-3PO

iv) Encounter with Darth (and Boba)

v) Han being toasted

vi) Boba-Fett & Darth in corridor (He's no good to me dead!)

vii) Carbonite Chamber

viii) Luke arriving (well you'll need to use your imagination for that!)

ix) Corridor duel

x) Boba moving Han

xi) Platform duel

xii) Luke whining about his hand

xiii) Luke in awkward position on aerial

xiv) Lando calls Lobot for help

xv) Chewie battling lots of Stormtroopers & C-3PO getting upset

xv) Chewie trying to save Han by firing at Slave 1 that he's stored in......

It could even be expanded to cover the scenes before & after (asteroid field, Space worm mouth, Space worm escape etc etc!) and even some more generic Cloud City scenes (buildings, corrridors, mining, utilities, cloud-car platforms etc which weren't in the original film)

It might be fun to try and create a 'Death Star' 10188 type model with each of the builders signing up to make a scene that would fit together....in theory!! We could even have two scale categories so that everyone could be involved, plus a further 'free build' category for the more generic scenes.

Any thoughts?

The community builds are fun. It's neat seeing all these different creations, even the MOCs that are of the same scene or concept, but with different builders it can look completely different.

How about rewriting SW history...as in, what if Anakin was never corrupted, how different would Episode IV-VI turn out? Or if Qui-Gon didn't train young Anni, would the universe be peaceful, or would someone else take over?

Kind of neat to speculate, granted it would be harder to build within a community if it wasn't agreeable terms.

Edit: I like the idea of only using pieces from a certain set to build something. The downside is not everyone would have those exact sets.

How about Steampunk? Well, I believe the next logical step would be an EU CB. Obviously, that could be split up into various timelines/time frames.

Hi

my suggestion to that topic:

I would personally love to join such a community build but i do not have many SW sets/parts yet. I could e.g. imagine nice Hoth cenarios but do not have any white plates ;)

Limiting the amount of parts to one single set would be a real challenge in creativity.

One communit build could be: Build something out of a starship set that is NOT a starship. Than make a poll of famous starship sets, and e.g. the actual MF is the winner. Having a vote before makes sure that everbody have the same sets available for building. The result could be e.g. a Rebel base out of MF parts. Or an AT ST out of MFs parts :)

I was playing with the same idea...

What if Hoth was a little hotter?

What if the Death Star had hyperdrive?

What if Jar-Jar had made it to the OT?

What if the shaft the emperoris thrown in was a little narrower?

What if the trash compactor had stopped a little later? (I know the answer: they would have been turned into cubedudes!)

Anyway, I was playing with the idea of a rather humorous "what if....?" theme.

Or maybe a behind the scenes build, with ewoks relaxing in the lounge along with the wampa...?

As its the last day of school in the town where I live, what if we did a "what I did on my summer vacation" thing. Everyone could pick their favorite SW character and build a MOC showing their summer vacation. Did they go camping, or to the beach, or spend a few days in the back seat of the family landspeeder on their way cross country to go visit grandma. The possibilities are endless.

I have an idea based on something I always did as a little Star Wars nerd growing up.

The movies gave us the A-wing, B-wing, X-wing, and Y-wing. Well what about all the other letters? I'd sit in class and draw a little starfighter in the shape of every letter in the alphabet.

Now I know they messed up with the B-wing and it doesn't much resemble the actual letter, but the rest of them mostly should!

Since we now have four official TOR era sets, what about a KotoR or SWToR subject? (Or has that been done?)

Then why did they wait so long for Yavin to go out of the way? That was what I meant...

The DS had to orbit the planet to get around to the moon.

Then why did they wait so long for Yavin to go out of the way? That was what I meant...

You can't jump to hyperspace when you're too close to a planet, if that's what you're asking. Plus Yavin IV was on the other side of Yavin, so you'd have to make two hyperspace jumps to get any closer.

But if your idea is simply "What if the Death Star had faster engines?" or "What if the Death Star could fire multiple times like the Death Star II?" (Assuming it had enough power to destroy a gas giant without any negative effects, of course.), then that would be interesting. I think Infinities has some material to help builders with ideas.

If we do letter-wings, Rook is going to destroy us all.

(By the way, B-wing: while the studio models were being built, the A-wing and B-wing were referred to simply as the 'a fighter' and the 'b fighter'. The A-wing, perhaps coincidentally, turned out looking like an 'A', but the B-wing didn't, though there is one angle where it somewhat resembles a lowercase 'b'. In-universe explanation is that it stands for 'Blade wing'.)

What if Jar-Jar had made it to the OT?

We make vigs of OT fans performing various rage-fueled actions?

What about a game like Risk where there is a map of the SW galaxy planets and each member willing to join the game joins a single faction (Rebelion vs Empire/CIS vs Republic), we could build a scene of an specific planet enviroment and that way it could count as 1 army on the mentioned planet so others can join him to add more armies on the planet at the same time the opposite faction members could build their own to counter the enemies in the planet or settle on other more strategic planets, that way we could build and at the same time have a lot more fun, a single member could build in diferent planets but never in the same and never for the opposing faction, the size of the armies or amount of vehicles and troops depicted wouldn't matter, but there could be a minimum of figs or vehicles or even stablish a separate battlefield on space only for space vehicles.

Maybe this idea is a little off topic but it would include some building (the environment or buildings)

Really! After I've already said not to mention it? Plus we'd like to do something for this outside our comfort zones.

Yeah right you are for choosing Cloud City. I would've thought by now that you've been finished with your own MOC of it.

PS. This is NOT another diorama community build, the alternate builds for SW sets looks promising but probably even better if non-SW sets are used to make SW sets! Let's NOT get bogged down by the timeline scene specific builds, better if they encompass all SW. Crossing themes is something that we can get other members outside of LSW to join in.

Really! After I've already said not to mention it? Plus we'd like to do something for this outside our comfort zones.

I was joking, dude! The only problem I would see with building alternate SW things from a non-SW set, is that each entrant would have to have money to buy an alternate set. It wouldn't be fair to those who don't have a job or money (like me).

I'd like to just do something completely made up, like the way EU writers do. Something non-canon and even non-sensical. That would be more fun than sticking to the canon or established lore.

What about something like the military-industrial complex?

I know you (ACPin) have done droid factories before, but there's plenty of material for similar things: mon cal shipyards, KDY, SFS just to name a couple that first come to mind.

I know that there are a few challenge ideas already in preparation. But more ideas are always welcome.

There is a place for that, it's called "the Sci-fi theme forum" :cry_happy:(just kidding)

Thanks to your suggestions and the help of some of you in developing this:

Wow looks good! How exactly do you "enter" a community build?
