Hello there

I collect catalogues, posters and other paper bits. Everytime I make an BL order I allways check if the seller has something interesting in that regard

My main interest is anything from about '78 to '90. Large catalogues, and special Town/City, Train, Castle, Space and Technic mini catalogues is what I got. Also some Action/Adventures stuff from '90 to '00. Primarily stuff released in the EU (I try to buy only UK Large Catalogues, btw)

I know there are several sources for these online, peeron.com being the main one. However, the quality vary greatly at peeron.com and I sometimes have problems displaying all pages (server overload?)

So, I'm thinking about doing high quality scans and uploading my collection. I know I have several bits, mostly Train and Technic + posters that I cannot find online anywhere

Would this be a worthwhile effort?

I can place them on a server with no bottleneck at all (benefit of my daily work)

Would 800x600px do? I would prefer that (posters might go 800x1200/1600px)

This is not a trick to get viewers to my site as there is no ads and I get nothing financial out of it

I just got these catalogues which I treasure dearly. They give me great inspiration, the dioramas are wonderfull and TLG have in the past created magnificient sets that easily can rival anything you can buy today. I'd like that for all to see

Silly idea?

What do you think?

Hey! That would be really great if you could share that stuff with us. I also enjoy looking thru the idea books, etc.

800x600 would be too small IMO. I just opened up a few JPEGs of an idea book I downloaded from Peeron, they were about 800 wide by1200 high and that seemed ok. Bigger would be ok with me.

EDIT; I forgot to mention; They have Acrobat Pro at my work so if you want, I could put a group of JPEGs into one PDF. That's what I did with the idea books I downloaded from Peeron. It's much better to open one PDF than to open sixty JPEGs. I won't be working there much longer though.

Thanks, Joe

I too collect catalogues, posters, postcards and some interesting set instructions. For osters, I'd advise 1200 px by X px, as this is the usual minimum requirement for printing A3 posters in my local shops. Bigger is of course better, especially if the bandwidth is not a problem.

BTW, if you have any pieces extra you'd be willing to trade you can PM me

Thanks for the input. I'll think about the size issue. I don't want to do PDFs though ... anyway, I'll do some uploads in the near future and you can have alook at that and tell me what you think

MikroMan, I got nothing to trade right now. But feel free to send me a pm and we can talk further
